Got me, I just got back in town and haven't had time to look at anything. Previously, they said at some time it would fail again and they wouldn't fix it. Could be this time or not.

I'm not in a good mood, for some reason, so I figured I'd post. I prefer this forum to Greenspun because: a] no one can use my name [and I really didn't like to look at Greenspun while I wasn't posting there and see posts presumably made by me], and b] People need to stick with the name under which they've registered [or go to the trouble of creating a new one]. I was a bit troubled when Lars said that TB2k was "Okay", but he missed being able to make a sarcastic comment under an anonymous name. I hadn't thought of Lars in the same way as Barry before that.
Just checking it out.

I'm not sure I have the UBB code correct above, but I'm a big fan of personal responsibility. IMO, taking another name to make a sarcastic comment is equivalent to speaking about someone behind his back.
Barry did this a lot on Poole's forum, but he didn't seem to know that a lot of us had the means to cross-track the posters. So, he spent a lovely time with folks from Unk's who thought he was wonderful, while "back at the ranch" he was anonymously posting about how fat people were, how stupid people were, etc.
You may have lower standards. Personally, I feel more comfortable when people speak what they think to my face.

Anita, agreed. The fun anon's like zzzz make a forum entertaining. Changing one's ID with every post to spew endless venom with impunity do not. It looks like this forum software will leave behind the worst of the Unk's saloon trolling. I'm hoping it may actually infuse some life into the dialogue.

Altho I made some comments under different names while at Greenspun, I never was abusive or insulting to anyone (except trollboy and he was not "anyone").

I hear that Barry treated his guests well, and spared no expense making their day an enjoyable one. While you, on the other hand, mooched your way through the Vegas get-together.

If Zzzzzz was using Z's actual name (whatever that is) I would do the same thing. It was a judgement call, by their very nature judgement calls will not please everyone, nor will all of my decisions be perfect.
I can only do my best to keep the handle stealing thing to a minimum. Same policy would apply for somebody calling themselves Nunnna Ya.

I recieved an 'e' today asking if I had posted to this forum lately. So, I take a look and it appears that this site will be the new home of Unk's WWW. I see some old friends, new names, and one old broad that should be way beyond PMS by now.
This has been a real busy year for us but there should always be time for R&R, don't you agree. I'll check in later but right now, the giant squid are still running so I must shove off.
