Yeah, I'm thinking of dong a little figure rearranging too. I've got too many shelves with figure cramped together and some that are almost empty. I try to keep them categorized but I'm not sure that system is working very well. I need to utilize the space better. [img]confused.gif[/img]

Luckily I handled the advertising for the place out of a trailer in the back parking lot - so luckily I didn't have a lot of customer contact (thank God!). I worked for George Maloof - they guy who owns the Palms now. It was an interesting six months - and like I say, the money was great - but it's not an adventure I'd want to repeat. You know, hotels lower their rates as it is low season. I stayed on the Aladdin paying like 50 buck per nite. But when I got out and felt that HEAT, man.......not goin back anymore. I am not a gambler, just wanted to see the attractions.
MM, yeah the heat was unbelievable. I remember first moving out there (in the middle of July [img]eek.gif[/img] ) waiting for it to cool down in the evening. It never did! It stays unbearably hot, day and night, from June through September and never lets up. Then in November it turns Ice - friggin' - cold. It's a fun place to visit but six years was enough.

I know that heat too well (Former Phoenix resident for 8 years) I'd finally had enough in 2001 when we hit the 90's in Feb [img]graemlins/whatever.gif[/img]
I knew it was gonna be another loooooong year of my ass baking in the sun.
MM4 I asked as I became disabled working ramp in '94 . The Airline was handling the 757's wrong
and put us in harm's way. I had less than 10 feet of cord beteen me and the nose gear. I was hit and it cost my leg. I had looked behind the jet for all of a second to make sure it was clear
for the pilot to crank #2 (As we were instructed)
well, in that second I was hit during the pushback, it took two of us before they finally put their guys on the tugs. If AZ wasn't a 'right to work state' I'd have been able to sue for criminal negligence. (They had been warned by NTSB and OSHA to change and didn't)
It's happened to about 30 nation wide with different airlines. (Most didn't live)
I was 90 seconds from bleedout myself.

I had an employee who lost a finger while working on the loader. I myself almost had an accident some years ago whe pushing back a B767. They put a pin on the stearing wheel that wasn't safe. During a turn, the pin broke and smashed the window of the push back tractor. Almost hit me.
Damn, DP! That's just unbelievable! Especially when OSHA and NTSB can back up their negligence. That's just wrong. [img]mad.gif[/img]

Madadman..The right to work states make it so you can only sue your emplyer if you can prove
"willful and wanton intent to harm" IOW they have to shoot you or some shit. I had the baest aviation attys in the country,(Corboy, Demetrio and Clifford) in Chicago and they put a ton into my case. We fanally had to try a 3rd party suit,
but it got thrown out..it was airline negligence all the way. I was found to be 99% free of fault
as was the third party. The airlines were found
to be at fault, but our hands were tied at that point. We couldn't re-write the law .
Il, Fl, and a number of other states have this.
You get coverage for life from workers comp for meds and needs (If you don't have to fight first)
I had to fight tooth fang and claw to get a lightweight wheechair. (would you believe that?) so I could carry my infant son. (at the time)
Workers comp sucks bigtime in that state.
Well, you get bitter or better as they say and it's water under the bridge, no point staying angry and giving them any more of my life.

MM4 I worked sales for Action (Now of Action/Mcfarlane fame) [img]wink.gif[/img] after I recovered, learned to walk again etc..But, I finally had to quit due to pain issues (My Phantom limb pain is
really bad to this day due to the nerve damamge)
They still haven't found a "cure" so all they can do is give you pain meds. I get really bad attacks if I'm stationary too long (like at a desk) even here I often have to get up which is why I disappear for a time and come back.
Pain finally took it's toll to where I was falling asleep on the way home from work. I couldn't be safe to myself and others so I said
"that's it". I write music and Graphic novel type stuff to keep active and keep my mind from melting into mush. My music really pulled me through a lot of the worst of the last 10 years.

You know, it's beens so long since I was a tourist there I'm not sure how the tipping deal works. I remember the days when you could get a better seat at a show if you slipped the usher a 20. Doesn't really work that way anymore. It was a better town when the mob was running things. [img]wink.gif[/img]
