I was wondering how old everyone is when you joined the darkside and how long you have been a member of this board?
I'm 36 (old fart)
Installed the JRSC on my GSR in November 1998 (2nd JRSC in Houston)
Joined the board in February 1999 (regardless what it says below)

LOL! Hey, Supra's aren't invincible for damn sure! You'd laugh at how many Supra owners can't drive or their car isn't running perfect. But the cocky people who gloat like that deserve to get smoked. I doubt I'll run a 10 with my car until I get my clutch squared away. I won't brag until I have the time slip [img]redface.gif[/img] ). I wanna tape it though to prove it being done without slicks =).
I've had my GSR for about 2 years, had the SC for nearly a year. I'm sure I'm the oldest here, at 49. I started messing w/the Integra shortly after I got it, kind of as a diversion from computers and networking, which had previously been both my job and hobby. Working on something different with my hands is just more relaxing, and satisfying (sometimes!). Another interesting thing is that my 17-yr. old son drives a LT1 Firebird, while the old guy is in the import. C'est la vie!
Well, lets see, im 25 now, but i was around 21 when i got the GSR and around 22 wheni put the JRSC on it.
Funny story how i got the JRSC. Its a long "RICEY" story but the just of it was "Well, they never sent me my shogun side skirts, damn, i want a SUPERCHARGER!" Some of you guys remember pix of how my car USED to look. I was young/nieve/stupid, forgive me....
Now ive had the JRSC on for like 4 years now and about 70,000 miles on the blower, with 80,000 on the car.
Thankfully, im back to "normal looking" integra....that is road course/autox only and GUTTED!

Well you know I have to say my piece [img]biggrin.gif[/img] I just turned 25 last week and this is my very first F/I and Honda car venture. I bought the car in April 99 I joined this board b4 I even had the car [img]rolleyes.gif[/img] Lundgren and myself installed the blower Dec 18th of 99 and it has def. been a journey. Lots of new friends and lots of new stuff too. My next big toy will be a Supra though, I just like the idea of being able to biuld on a stock platform to a reliable 600hp goal. It will certainly take more then 2 years to max out my modding options (because now my only real option to go conciderably faster is to biuld the motor) and I will be busy with it for a good long while. But first I must sell my teg, get my bike, pay some bills, and get done with school [img]mad.gif[/img]
Let's see... I'm 41 and have been tinkering with cars (well really anything for that matter) for over 25 years. I put the blower on my '94 Teg in early '99, though I haven't really racked up that many miles on it; the odometer currently reads ~53K miles.

I'm 31. Bought my GSR new in 1996. When it was time to change the air filter (30K miles?) I made the mistake of driving it without the airbox top.
From the moment I heard that sound, I was hooked. First bolt ons. Then my brother put NO2 on his 240SX and beat me, so I got a supercharger and beat him. So he got a SR20DET (although he still can't beat me!).
Without the feedback loop of my brother, I doubt I'd be into FI.
Started lurking 6/99. Joined the board 11/99. SC'd my car in 1/00. 61K on the odometer, 15K on the blower.
I'm 22 and this is my 3rd Honda.
My first '96 GSR was NA. I ran a 14.7 with that car. Boy, I thought that car was waaay fast. Wrecked that in a rollover accident. [img]frown.gif[/img]
I salvaged the motor from that car and dropped it into a '96 Civic H/B. That car was FUN. I blew the motor by hydrolocking it one rainy day. I should've purchased the AEM water bypass. [img]redface.gif[/img]
Last year, I bought a used '95 GSR, with the strict intention of supercharging it. I got the supercharger for FREE! I traded in my blown GSR motor and the '96 Civic body for it! All the work, I did myself from then on. . .
I installed the supercharged in March '01, with about 55K on the odometer. I've got about 74K miles now. Been enjoying the dark side ever since!

I'm 26, bought my GSR new in 98, and put the JRSC on almost exactly two years ago now. This is my first FI machine, as well as my first honda. I've never regretted it, or ever looked back since I started. I do have to say that I envy those stock people driving around who can sell their cars without taking a MASSIVE loss though. The resale on a modded car is just dismal. My car is reaching the point where things are starting to need to be replaced and that pisses me off, but I guess that's to be expected when you drive 'em hard all the time. *beam*
Well, it's my turn. I'm 25 and I bought my 97 civic brand new in Nov of 96. I bought it with the intent of having a new reliable car with good mileage and a reputation for holding their value. I put in a nice stereo and then I decided to buy an intake.
It was all over from there. I bought the JRSC in 98 or 99. Unfortunately I had loads or problems with the JRSC. I got rid of it with the intent of buying a turbo and then the car was stolen. The police found it sitting on blocks and it was totaled out by the insurance company.
A month later I bought a turbocharged Eclipse. I still have it and so far I'm loving every minute of it. I'm not dumping much money into this car. I'm just trying to have fun with it. Hopefully, I'll upgrade the turbo to a 20G this year and have some real fun. 12 second club, here I come!

I'm 31.5 and got my first GS-R brand new back in '94. I picked up my first SportCompactCar magazine sometime in '95 and decided it was time for a few mods. I didn't want to do anything drastic until the factory warranty had expired. By October '98, I decided to try out the new JRSC with only 48,890 miles on the odometer(close enough to the 4 year/50,000 mark). [img]tongue.gif[/img] I got in on a groupbuy (I think it was on the All Things Integra board) for one of the first 10 kits (supposedly) and the price was $1999 shipped! I found VTecnoGeek's original Forced Induction Integras board shortly after that. Then he switched over to what we are calling the "old" Hostboard. I think I registered there in Feb. '99 and the rest is history. I drove that car sc'd at 6 psi for nearly a year and put almost 12,000 miles on it... then I rolled the car! [img]frown.gif[/img] I loved that damn car, too. Luckily, the the motor, sc, and most importantly, I survived! Anywho, that was my first dose of FI and it changed me forever! Now I have a '00 GS-R with a Drag 3 turbo kit on it. Bought a '95 GSR in 95...went JRSC in 2000 at 90K miles...totalled the car at 160K miles...I'm now 27, retired [img]biggrin.gif[/img]
27 now and I installed my JRSC in 1999 or 1998 sometime. I don't recall but I know I wasn't older than Raffe, Lun or Richard. I had my setup on for..gosh I don't recall. I do know it ended up in a melted piston! [img]redface.gif[/img] ). The fun of being a pioneer who's greedy [img]tongue.gif[/img] .
I am 32, and I hate to say, this is like my 4th venture into the realm of F/I Hondas. My very first was a 1992 Civic Si that I put a Greddy Turbo kit with a Spearco intercooler around 1995/96. I thought that was SOOOO fast, hehe. I currently have the JRSC at 8 lbs, and I just did it to be different. All of my influenced friends are now into Tegs with built motors and big turbo's, yet I only know of 2 Tegs here in Orlando, that have/had a JRSC. I also like the super sleeper look. I suprise the poop out of everyone, my car looks like a lowered rs, with wheels and a exhaust. You don't see/hear anything until it's too late! BTW I took it to the track last Wednesday, and I ran a 1995 Turbo Supra with intake, exhaust, boost control and a Fast and Furious kit/paint(very intimidating). I beat him by 2/10's. Again, when he saw my car and I told him I wanted to stage with him, he actually laughed, and said "whatever, dude". I was thinking about that when I got the timeslip! He didn't talk to me for the rest of the night, OH WELL!!!!

I am scaring the hell out of 34. I bought my first Honda in 1995... a Del Sol SOHC VTEC Auto-tragic !!! I had a 500 hp Z-28 at the house, so I decided I needed a bit more power. Since a Gude cam and ECU was worthless, and my cold air intake and DC header was simply not enough, I joined the JRSC family in 1997. I had MAJOR difficulties at first... and Oscar was right there to help me fix the problems !!! I loved the service, and the product... so I became a distributor.
The rest is history.

I am 22(turning 23 in 21 days). I got my GS-R in mid July of 99 used with 10.5k on the odo. At 12k miles and August 10th I supercharged the car(yeah, I waited a long time to get started). Since then I have had zero problems really with the GS-R and have yet to go higher boost even though I bought a Cartech almost two years ago, and purcahsed an 8psi pulley from Silvino and then sold it to GSREV. I need to graduate from college before I go into the realms of standalone or built motor(graduating this fall). I am putting in my larger injectors, AEM FPR, Cartech, and Nitrous this week and next.
My next car will most likely be a turbo car from the factory. Many of my friends have low 12 and 11 second Supra MKIV's, so I will probably go that route in the future. The NSX also crosses my mind, but I can hardly rationalize spending that much money on a car that is so expensive to upgrade. Even though it will definitely get the attention of the ladies(yes, I want shallow women to adore me for my car) [img]biggrin.gif[/img]
My goal is 12's with my 6psi setup and nitrous. If I don't get that, 9-10psi goes on.

I guess that's a good thing. Now I have a place to come to for "Words of Wisdom" Anyhow, I am 20 years old and purchased my GSR back in high school at the age of 17. No mommy didn't buy it. I had to bust my A** working part-time jobs just to make payments. I went JRSC somewhere around 10K miles. This is my first FI car and I love it. While researching information on the JR Kit I stumbled upon this board. I've been hooked ever since.

I'm 21, and have been into cars my whole life. My dream has always been to be a professional race car driver. In 98 I bought a 90 LS riced it all and destroyed the tranny. Traded it in for my 96 GSR in Feb 00. First mod AEM cai May 01. Hooked ever since! 14.7 with bolton's. Joined board Dec 01, Joined Dark Side Jan 02 MLK day.
I'm 23 and joined the [Honda] darkside in August '98 at age 20. Joined here August '99. I bought my '97 Civic new in June '97. The SC went on at about 24,000 miles and I now have 85,000 miles...that's over 60,000 HARD SC'd miles. My previous (and first) car was a crappy '90 Talon AWD that I got when I was 17. So, I guess you could say that was my first darkside experience. I also dabbled with a Vortec SC'd '97 Z28 which was a maintenance nightmare.

I knew what I wanted to do from the get go when I bought my 2001 GSR in December 2000 (I was driving an 88 Ford Festiva (after I almost totalled and sold my 96 Maxima SE)! JRSC was on my Teg after 3K miles, currently at 18K. I didn't realize how dark (and expensive) it would get from there, though! Worth every penny so far.
New suspension/tires next week! I'm excited and feeling 20 again. Thanks to this board for all the help getting there.
I am 22. I bought my del Sol in 1996 brand new. Its a 1995 S model del Sol. had 23 miles on the odometer. and i started modifying it in 1997 with a K&N and Suspension tech sway bars and Nuespeed strut tower braces and So on..
Jan 7th 2000 I decided to spray the 1.5L motor.
Jan 8th 2000 I decided to put a new motor in the car.
Now its just a never ending money pit that i throw my weekly pay check too.
My car is closer to what i want. but still not quiet there. So i guess I will continue throwing money at it till i get what i want [img]smile.gif[/img]

I have had the 'teg for about two years now, supercharged for about 1 year of that. I stepped up from an SOHC custom turbo Civic that gave me numerous issues. I could never get what I wanted out of it and I realized that giving up 40 horses to the Integra right off the bat was not where it was at. I started lurking on the board soon after getting the 'teg and started chiming in soon after that.
I'm pretty happy with the JRSC. I have had my share of problems with it and it seems rare that it runs like I know it can but that's the fun of the hobby. [img]wink.gif[/img]
Well I guess I'm part of the younger crowd (no offense). I am 22 and I've onwed my integra since 98. When I got it I really didn't expect that I would do all that I have done. I was NA for while and then I got a good deal on a charger. Well about 6 months later I started having problems with it and sent it bacl to JR. They warrantied it out and sent my old one back completely rebuilt. Overall Ive been FI for close to a year now and I've beaten my car for about 50,000 mi. and it's still considerably strong. I dont' guess you can complain with that. It's just sad to see some of you "Old Timers" leaving us. It seems like a trend here lately. Oh well it was good while it lasted.
We should do a big get together sometime with the whole board. I know a few people have met at car shows or drag events but a large meeting would be fun to do. Maybe we should start another thread for this idea.
Well its nice to know I'm not the oldest here. That would be 2KBill at 49. I am 44 and bought my GS-R new in '99 and plan on keeping it for a while yet. I put the blower on in the summer of 2000. It is running perfect now and makes a ton of power.
Hey - a married guy with a house and 2 kids under 10 has to have a toy! This thing is just too much fun!!! A guy I work with has a '97 M3 and I beat him everytime we go for it. He is not amused.
I'm 26, I think, and the habit started back in 93', when I was the proud owner of a 85 CRX which I loved dearly, but actually *snapped* the rear suspension and sold the car cheap.
I had drilled rotors, a K&N filter, cool Ronal wheels, a minor suspension drop (which for those who don't know could be done by simply adjusting the torsion bars), advanced timing, a stereo that won an IASCA contest, and I, over the course of 5 months, literally stripped the car down bolt by bolt and rebuilt it. That was what I did instead of go to college that year. [img]smile.gif[/img]
I wish I could have afforded a Jackson turbo back then...
I have spent wayyy too much money, like everyone else here in the pursuit of speed, burning rubber, and happiness... but, it's been pretty fun the whole way.
I'm happy to see the mix here... seems like love of this hobby and intelligence prevail on this board!

Hello everyone. I'm Thomas Chim. 19 here. I drive the AUTOMATIC Civic EX. Got my car at 16, basically I just wanted a good daily driver, until I got bored and added a cone filter on my car for fun. The rest is history.... Got the jrsc september 2000 with 20k miles. Now I have 48k miles. The engine and tranny take the power 100% fine.
I've now upgraded the power to 8psi, running a kamikaze header, thermal exhaust, and shorty intake.
I go to school at University of Houston-Downtown and major in Computer Information Systems. I've decided to just play with this car for fun until I graduate regardless of its limits; Then I will get a factory hot rod and fix that up for fun.

JR, My first car was a '89 Integra and I too had the curse of the torsion bar. All you need to do is get under the car and the bottom of each torsion bar will be a nut. It was a while back so I can't remember if it's loosen or tighten, but turn the nut to the max and you can get up to a 1.5 inch drop [img]graemlins/idea.gif[/img] For free!!

There are NO nuts on mine !!! I spoke to a guy out west and he said that you have to cut a slot in the end of the bar and then manually turn it with a very large screwdriver...
Sure wish it was like an old Mazda or Nissan P/U... turn it down with the end nut like you explained.
Got my R in Aug. of '98. Charged it in Nov. of '99. Joined the hostboard in Apr. of '00.
I am right in the middle at 29 years old. Bought my 94 Teg back in 97 with 140,000 miles on the odometer. Hey come on, it was only $6500. Rebuilt the engine in 98 at 175,000 miles with performance goodies like 11:1 compresion pistons. With 130 ft lbs of torque at the wheels (up from 109, I was hooked on the new power, and had to have MORE!!!
So at the beginning of 99 I put the first LS supercharger kit on my car. I was not impressed as initial dyno only registered 10HP and 10TQ increase. After a year of tuning and about 40 hours of phone calls to Moss Motors (J.R. R&D shop)I was finally making 181HP and 158TQ! All with 5psi! This set up netted me 13.9 quater miles @97mph and 8.75 1/8th mile runs on BFG drag radials (2.0 60ft)until last summer when the bearings burnt up at 205,000 miles.
So, i rebuilt the engine AGAIN and dropped the compression to 8.8, up the boost to 9 psi, put in 8000rpm cams from Crane, JR water injection and 2.5" exhaust. I have not taken it to the track yet, as I am battling tuning problems with fuel, ignition, and worn-out 205,000 mile sensors. It feels considerable faster. Biggest improvement yet, even more than the supercharger itself. I have not dynoed it, but seat-of-the-pants tells me 30HP and at least 10% increase in torque, but we will see soon.
I am hooked, Happy to be the first supercharged LS in the 13's and soon the first over 100mph.
I just recently joined the board last fall and spent the Winter in Afghanistan killing Al Qaeda rag heads. But, I am happy to be home and get my car running again.

Well, I am young, 27, though with the first baby on the way I am feeling old. I installed my SC in October of 98 (there is a debate between Simuel and myself as to who had the first "correctly" installed, production JRSC on a GSR [img]smile.gif[/img] ) I started the forum because I was tired of all the Forced Induction bashing on the popular Honda boards of the day. Thanks for all the support through the years, and I look forward to spending more time on the board once the baby's room is done and the baby is born (although I may be kidding myself [img]smile.gif[/img] )
I'm 25 and registered here in oct 1999 and got my blower in june or so of 2000. Love it love it love it.

Well, I'm a young un too at 25. I bought my first honda in early 98, it was a black 97 Honda Prelude type SH. God I loved that car. I bought it used with 16000 on the odo. I didn't want to do anything major to it at first (warranty), and I really thought that it was fast enough. [img]redface.gif[/img] I put a drop in K&N filter in the box and thats IT for mods.
Well my joy was kinda short lived, I wrecked it twice in six months and my insurance went through the roof (308 per month). So I traded it in for a white 96 integra gsr 4dr in mid 99. I had to get a four door so that my insurance wouldn't kill me.
As far as modifications, I just wanted to keep it simple. So the first mod I did was the infamous AEM CAI. Like other people on this board, from the moment I heard what my car could sound like I was hooked. A couple of weeks later I got my Comptech cat back.
Then I made the jump to the darkside and I bought my JRSC in early 2000. I went to JR website to find someone in my area that could put it on. There were only two places near me: Atlanta, GA and B'ham, AL. The guy in B'ham happens to be Jim Helbing (JRcivic). He had the chore of makin my car fast. Then in early 2001 we jumped my car up to 8psi, with no gauges in the car, and I took it home to raise hell. Well in April of 2001, I melted piston #3(breakin the law) and so I called Jim and we created a plan to make my car strong. Well, as most of you know I just now have my car back, and it's good to be home again on the darkside. Also I have learned SO much from this board, and it's nice to communicate with people regularly that understand our passion.
Well Simuel wouldnt be MTRS the 1st, if he wasnt the 1st, duh.. [img]smile.gif[/img]
Im 27 have had 2 hondas, and been a member since 98. Now I have a Turbo Gsr and manage a race car that went 9.96 last year and finished 6th in points standings(NHRA). This year we got a big sponsorship, but I cant say just who untill I sign the contract. This is a dream come true for me and I hope to meet more of you this year as I travel the country..
