I think some arrangements need making.
I've just bought a new tent and a stove for my beans, I'm going to try to live on beans and hot chocolate while I'm there.
But i don't want to take too much stuff, does anyone know if you can cook beans in the tin they are bought in? I've got a feeling you can't.... a little tin poisening never did anyone any harm, did it?
-
Your best bet would be to burn them over a gas stove, but without opening the tin first.
-
yeah wait for the tin to explode, shrapnel everywhere.
-
John, aren't you getting there by mini bus? If so, and if Adam and I (I included Adam just incase he is also in the same prediciment as I) can't get the train, can we hop on the Bunnell Coach?
-
I'm not too sure how many spare seats are on the bus, I'll have a word with Ryan though because it's his grandads minibus.
-
well ONE of you had better have credit to get in touch with the happy mayle entourage on arrival.
-
The best plan is to cook them in the tin, dent it on two places on opposing sides (do not open the can) then heat it up turning it over and on its side a few times. When the dents pop out it is pretty much ready to eat BUT be very careful when opening the tin, scalding hot bean juice can be found cascading over everything in sight with it's napalm-like heat.
Point it in a safe direction and squeeze the tin opener at arms length, once the pressure has all been released you can open the tin as normal.
This is all common sense really.
OR you can just open the tin and use it like a pan to cook the contents in, but that's much slower than the "pressure cooker" method and sometimes depending on the stove or heat source the food heated can taste like shit.

haha, thanks for that.
I've got an army stove with parrafin wax fuel tablets, I think I shall take a small pot to cook in though, I've put a can of beans on a bonfire once... and it hurt.
I might take my phone... I'm not sure though because I don't want to have it in my pocket all the time and nor do I want to leave it in my tent.
I'm thinking of cutting a small hole in the gorundsheet of my tent and then underneath that hole dig a small space out of the mud / grass to keep valuables in.... like bog roll.

Oh and I've just read the back of the ticket, cos I'm boring, and it says no sound systems are allowed on the site, I think someone was saying something about taking a cd player in a different topic...
And fires are allowed . All it says on the back of the ticket is; "No.... large fires, flares, fireworks or burning of plastic"
And then at the bottom, in capital letters; "WARNING: EXESSIVE EXPOSURE TO LOUD MUSIC MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO YOUR HEARING" - best take my earplugs.
I've never seen that on the back of a ticket before, maybe I just don' usually read the back of tickets.

taking your phone
isn't
a good plan, I lost
mine in 2000, but somehow found
it
again!???
YOU might
not be as
lucky

I was gonna do that whole dig a hole thing last yaer but then decided it was too much effort. Just got a combination lock instead. As long as you keep it hidden under the little flap of material no-one will think "hey it locked up theyve got something to hide" but lets face it if its a proper theif they'll just slash your fuckin tent to get in anyway. Or do like some guys who picked up some random tent and plonked it near us to camp in.
Last year was cool anyway, the GY camp was pretty big and because not everyone was going to see the same bands as each other there was usually someone around all the time anyway (ie. the ticketless, security fence jumping Fergie), also we were in a smaller side field thing so you kinda knew when someone shouldnt be there, unlike the bigger fields where everyone just walks through your circle. The only valuable things i took i kept on my person all the time, and i took an old mobile that i didn't mind losing, purely to find people when we got there.
What i think is just make sure when you camp make sure its not near dodgy geezers, or 'you kids' who've gone for the trance tent, find a bunch of smelly 15 yr old greebos and you'll be safe cos they'll worship you.

Oh yeah, and last year i took all day breakfasts etc and got a pan from the quid shop that i could chuck, but in the end just ate burgers from the van cos i couldnt be bothered to cook, and lets face it you really dont want to be eating beans and the like, you'll just need the toilet and you really wont wanna go to them. Stick to stodgy, constipating burgers and you'll be sorted.

im not going but i really wanted to but just couldn't afford it
