If the weather forecast is for rain before you go, don't wear jeans or other heavy fabric clothes... they take absolutley aaages to dry, especially if you're staying in a tent.
Take some bog roll with you, everyone nicks it out of the porta-loos to throw.
Also, if there's a big group of people looking in your direction when you go into a porta-loo.... I wouldn't go in, supposedly, they push them over while your inside.
I was pushed over in a portaloo once. It's excellent!
take bog roll, you'll figure out when the toilets are cleaned each day, just be there on the dot.
munch? dont take that much, or none, coz youll only end up fucking it off and buy a full english breakfast bun for ?3:50. and people will let you borrow camp stoves if you dont take one, unless they are mean.
take cash with you, or else you will be waiting for 3 hours in the bank queue (only one cash point, lol) and there are loads of stalls to tempt you, with cheap ass clothes.
clothes? your own personal choice, just dont take too many. if you think you are gonna keep fresh with fresh clothes, how the fuck are you gonna keep your nads fresh? wash them under the taps? a flannel, if you are that way inclined, but most people are gonna be in the same boat. the skutter boat.
Beer: take asmuch as you can carry, it costs a bomb at the site, or take fuck all and go on the sainsburys trip, it is a 1 hour round trip approx from the campsite. Oh the bogs are closed for the festival weekend.....wound.
Drugs: If you are that way inclined, the more the merrier. if you are going the day before and the day after remember it is 5 days, so take what you think will last you x2 (same applies with the beer). you will become a tad immune after a while thou (does not applie to the beer).
Thats what i reckon.
So are there police sniffer dogs along the que to get in or at the train stations....?
That's why we need perfume
haha
check out the Leeds fest site, they have some good tips, and some shit tips
i reckon we (u know who u are) should, not take any booze, and go to sainsbrys (do u think they mite sell out of booze tho? )
im gonna take bog roll, 2 changes of clothes, 5days of underware (obviously ), erm, a tent(hopefully),um,spoggy (how else am i gonna keep my breath minty fresh?!), errrrrrrr......,disposable camera....
im not sure wheather to take my phone...hmmmmmmm, ideas?
I've decided not to take my phone, this is the stuff I am taking;
<ul type="square">[*]Tent[*]Sleeping bag[*]Parafin wax stove[*]One cooking pot[*]Lighter/s[*]Kag in a bag (kagoole) & Water proof trouser (If it doesn't rain I'll be pissed off[*]Bog Roll x2[*]Camping mat to sleep on[*]Torch[*]Jerry can for water[*]Chewing Gum[*]Small Cloth / Flannel, maybe[*]Couple of carrier bags[*]Cash in a wallet[*]Earplugs[*]Disposable camera[*]Maybe a few pairs of socks[*]Deoderant
No spare clothes, eveyrone will smell anyway.. errrr not taking my phone or the kitchen sink.
Some cut off shorts for both kinds of weather, a t-shirt, a jumper, one pair of trolleys and my shoes. I'll decide on socks later.
Oh, I'm not taking much cash so I'm getting tins of english breakfasts / beans / spaghetti shapes etc. to take with me, only take the ones with ring-pulls though.... you're bound to forget a tin opener.
bump
me john and Ben have just been on a training mission, and we are deffintly well prepared in the food department
This will be my fourth leeds festival so id like to think im fairly experienced at it
other stuff that ive learned over the years
Baby wipes - you can use them to "keep your nads fresh" and anywhere else youd like to keep clean
booze - dont rely on the sainsburys near the site for cheap booze (concorde, lambrini, scotsmac and all the other stuff we've grown to love) , all thats usually left after a couple of hours is loads of wierd named stuff that nobody in there right mind likes or buys, unless you wanna buy a crate of beer, but its a pain in the arse treck carrying a crate back to your tent. so just get a few bottles of cheap wine before you go.
food - an essential i found was kellogs pop tarts.
also just outside the site (on the way to sainsburys) there is a greasy spoon all day breakfast van which is alot cheaper and satisfying than the shit they serve on site.any other food you want just buy from sainsburys.
foam Ground mat- i havent taken one yet and every year i wake up damp and rough as fuck and think "why the fuck didnt i get one of those"
Poppers- Just cause theyre funny (available on site)
clothes - a couple of t shirts, jumper/hoodie if it gets cold. Shorts are alot better than trousers if it rains or the grounds wet your skin dries alot quicker than any fabric.
Dont wear converse all stars or any other light footware, theyll get wrecked, skate trainers or doc martins (if your that way inclined) are your best bets
tape player - if you can (i reckon ill be taking on this year as im driving down) If you dont youll be stuck listening to the sounds of the group camped next to you, which 9 times out of 10 is an incubus/lost prophets mix tape (not that im a musical fascist but there is other stuff id rarther listen to)
and thats about all i can think of
Poppers - as in the drug that makes your arsehole slack?
The only shoes I have are all-stars style ones... one pair are already knackered so I'll wear them.
Babywipes = good idea.
Oh, and poptarts I'll take some of them.
I already have a few groundmats.
poppers=poopers
the toilets are shite and if your huffing stuff that makes your ringer loose then you will keg yourself cos you wont of been to the loo for three days. get smaked up to keep you constipated.

Aimee Taylor, whatever next?
does anyone know if it's ok to go down on the thursday? does anything go on on thursday night?
and what time is the train everyone is getting, and how much?
I think most poeple are going down on the Thursday, the there's a few trains on that day one at about 10, then 12... then some other train.
It's about ?20 return.
you could say "Yes i AM 15 years old mister conducter sir" and pay only ?10.40 period return.
theres an 11 ish train that i am on??
The best trains to get are one of these two:-
If you want to be going early so you can into Leeds BEFORE the camp site gates open at noon (i think thats when they open) then this is your train:
Leaving Grimsby Town at 08:37 arriving at Doncaster at 09:39, change trains at Doncaster and leave for Leeds at 10:14 arriving at Leeds at 11:01
If you are going for a later train because you are going to the matrix club for that breakfast thing thats being advertised, or just cos your a general lazy bastard and cant get out of bed for the previous train this is your train:
Leaving Grimsby Town at 10:37 getting into Doncaster at 11:39, change at Doncaster and leave for Leeds at 11:53, arriving in Leeds at 12:31
As far as i know if you want any other trains to trhem two, they run every two hours form them times. its simple to work out but if your completely retarded ring this number 08457 48 49 50
hope that helps a few people out
I forgot to add for those poeple who want to know any times back from Leeds on Bank Holiday Monday, the only one i know of is this:
Leaving Leeds at 18:05 arriving at Doncaster at 18:36, changing trains at Doncaster to get the train back to Grimsby at 18:53, arriving back in this dive at 19:54..
dont ask why the times from Leeds to Doncaster are quicker then the other way round, maybe the train takes a different route

It is exactly ?20.80 return, so your close
hhhhhmmmmmmmmm.......well, when we went to speak to lord darth vader in his box at the train station he sed about 12:30 or some thing for the train.
well, what im going to do is go in 2moro, reserve my ticket, and i'll pick which time is best.
everyone should go on the same train, so by 2moro night we should have all agreed on a time and place to meet and which train we will be getting (tell all the ppl u are going with)
if we all go together there is more chance of us setting up camp together
p.s try and gett as many fone numbers for the ppl going as posible, then camp site comunications will be easyer
fook.th3.train...too.much.hass3l
Trains are dead shitty
Im getting a lift...ace
Me and percy are gonna be the hermits who all your mothers warned you about when you were younger
Don't camp with Metal Martin and Pearcy.. they'll give you a little tiny corner of the tent where all the rain settles, and wake you up to take a photo of you.
i think i was wrong about the every 2 hours part of my train explanation, i know im right with the times because i mustve rang them 3 or 4 times because i kept losing the piece of paper with the times on, so i made sure its bold and where i can see it
and what you wanna do if you want to meet and all camp together is get a big fuck off flag saying "GY CAMP" and stick it as high as you can
it could be every hour, but its definately not every half an hour
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size=2 face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><table border="0" width="90%" bgcolor="#333333" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="0"><tr><td width="100%"><table border="0" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" bgcolor="#FF9900"><tr><td width="100%" bgcolor="#DDDDDD"><font size=2 face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Originally posted by Toxic Toast:

The comedy tent is open on thursday night apparently.
There was more than one train on the bank holiday last year, but they kept changing the times and platform and stuff, when you finally get on it just make the doors open at Doncaster, so you dont end up with an 8 hour journey home like we did.
cheers Ed...
whevever you go, check about strikes, after all the planning and shit i did, i ended up getting only a Sunday ticket, and im going on Saturday. but last night i found out that the train i was getting on Saturday morning has been cancelled, and i have to go threw Newark instead of Doncaster, which makes the journey an extra hour :|
but nevermind theres plenty of time on Saturday
