Hurley in the paper

Hurley is claiming to go 10-0 this year...I guess we better watch out!

You gotta commend Hurley for setting their goals high who knows if coach Hall can get the boys out and playing they will be tough cause those Hurley boys are mean as heck and won't back down. And with a new schedule with some weaker teams and some confidence I know i wouldn't wanna be traveling to the cliff.

All I have to say is bring the idiots on. If they think they can somehow pull off wins against haysi and honaker or even twin valley then lets see em do it.

I like this guy already. All i'm saying is a team that goes 1-9 and then states not between themselves to get hyped up but to a newspaper, the BRISTOL newspaper to beat it all, that they are going 10-0 this season. To me thats a little stupid. But hey if it helps them get thier spirits up more power to em. The last few years they've came out fired up for the first minute and then get down on themselves and just kinda moped through the plays. I just dont think it wise for them to state publically they're going 10-0 after the past few seasons they've had

I read the article and all the paper said the kid did was hold up two fives then a zero symbol with his hands and the bristol paper printed it so that automatically means its going to happen?? Hurley isn't my team I was just defending them. A team can go winless one to to undefeated the next. Look at Bridgewater.

I'm not saying Hurley won't have a good season, I just think its unlikely they will beat Honaker or Haysi. Who knows they might be a surprise team in division 1. But there is no way in **** they could beat those two div 3 schools from Kentucky, or all the other div 2 schools they play. To say they are gonna go 10-0 is just ludacris.

I'm not from Hurley and I didn't ever say that they were going to go 10 and 0. All I ever said was give them some credit for believing in themselves after a few bad years.

Stormy, I think its possible for Hurley to beat the teams in Kentucky. Kentucky Football isnt very strong unlike Kentucky basketball

My uncles team didnt even win district this one year but they went and scrimmaged a kentucky team that was like AA-AAA that won state that year and killed em. Virginia is one of the top football states

what about the west virginia schools? will they be any good or not?

Not too sure about WV teams but Tenn and Kentucky teams are weak compared to Virginia teams

10-0. That's a goal to set for one's self. However 14-0 should be the goal that all teams set for themselfs. Afterall that's where the gold is. Nobody remembers a 10-0 team that doesn't win that 14th game. 10 years from now, Honakers 9-2 or Gate Citys 12-1 teams last year will not even be a footnote in the VHSL highlight book. Now, if Honaker went 13-1, then 2002 would have always been called the first year Honaker captured the gold. I repect Hurly for wanting to go 10-0, but they seemed to have forgotten the region D championship and the state championship. Yes you can break it down to two seasons, a 10 game season and a 4 game season. I have been watching SWVA high school football for 30 years now, and I have seen alot of teams to look at it that way. But what tends to happen is they also seem to ease up after the first season is over, therefore they enter the second season without that fire that got them there in the first place. Just ask Powell Valley the year that Garden sent them home to pack their pads away for the winter. I hope that I am not the only one on here old enough to remember that game...LOL. Thanks colorist. You have to take ballgames a game at a time in my opinion. I Dont like stating goals like 10-0 or 14-0 I like just saying lets win this next game.

You guys seem to have only read the part in the article where Hurley said they had set a goal of going 10 and 0. The other parts of the article said Coach Wayne Hall looked on the internet and found schools that were close by and had weaker football teams that they could hopefully compete against.
