OK, so there she was, crooked mouth and all talking about an absolutely ridiculous and ludicrous 60 minute Thanksgiving dinner but, I was willing to overlook the insanity because she was headed to the Chambers Range and I thought "Oh good! She's using the range, finally" and she was, she had some things cooking in the oven with the gas on...it was ok but when she closed the over door, well, it was the final nail in the coffin for her, she just slammed it shut. Now, I ask you, when you all close your oven door, do you put the handle into the open position then allow the bolt to settle into the saddle or, do you slam it shut? Perhaps I'm over sensitive and careful with the stove but slamming the door, I just can't imagine any fine Chambers Forum folks doing that....do you ? Maybe I'm just looking for another reason to dislike Rachel Ray...like, hello, doesn't she ever wash anything before cooking it ? One more salami recipe and I'll never be able to look a salami in the eye again. EVOO, please, enough of that, we're adults, let's say the words out loud.

I gave up on her a long time ago, Asfan!!
No, I have never, ever slammed my oven door close!! We worked too hard restoring Big Bertha. I close my oven door just like you.
Rachel Ray has no idea what her Chambers can do. 30 Minute meals, give me a break, why rush like a chicken with it's head cut off, when she can be CWTGO. Let's see what groups she could be reaching out to; vintage stove lovers, Chambers owners, people who don't like babysitting a stove, environmentalists--saving on natural gas and the list could go on and on.
And Todd has tried!!So after he shared his experience trying to send literature, etc... She's very well insulated from the public, except to promote her cookbooks and shows!!
I just stopped watching her show.
just my thoughts........

We haven't had a TV in so long, I couldn't pick Rachel Ray out of a lineup.
But slamming the door? To anyone who's painstakingly restored one of these... That's just not done.
-
Rachael Ray,
I love her.. watch her all the time... if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have a Chambers... (My wife saw it and wanted one. I had never heard of it). When I mention my Chambers to friends and co-workers, they look at me like I have two heads... but when I say "the Rachael Ray oven"... they instantly connect... She may be "Hollywood" but she has advanced the restoration of Chambers Ovens... at least by 1... Mine....
Of course, it helped looking at Berlyn's photo's to gain enough confidence to take Addie apart and restore it...
Give Rachael a break,
Gasseous

HA,
YUMMIE!!!! If i hear her utter that one more time I can't believe she became so popular. I never slam my door shut, I love my stove to much.
The Food TV network use to be more accessible. That's how I found out about one chambers repair guy. I emailed them and they responded asap. After that they became like a clam, shut tight. I also had tried to get them to do a show featuring the chambers.
Maybe if we all gang up on them at once they might consider. Think about it...maybe they'll want us all on the show. A trip to NY and we can meet each other. As Rachael Ray wood say GROOVY.

I've tried over and over again to get through to her about her CHAMBERS, but never get a reply. Her website says she's got a 90C, we all know that it's a 61C. I've tried to tell them about that. I've also offered to GIVE HER a full set of literature for her CHAMBERS, but nothing I do gets a reply.
I've e-mailed her through her network, her publisher, I even found what was supposed to be a direct e-mail address for her and used that. I've also called the network and left messages...
Nothing.
My guess is she's never told about my attempts to contact her.
Wonder if I should show up at her next book signing....
-
Todd,
Now that's an idea. I live in NY where she'll probably have signings in a host of spots. I'll show up with a picture of my stove and all the material that goes with it.
Todd, we should all send you a picture of ourselves in front of our stoves...you could do some kind of collage and send it off to her or bring it to a book signing. It would be nice to have a shot of everyone by their stove, I would hang it proudly in my kitchen.

Treatmaster what a great idea!!
Everyone's pic with their Chambers!!

At first, Rachey Ray was entertaining but when I realized her kitchen habits were so poor and she under utilyzed her Chambers, I began to lose interest. She was a very good dinner timer for me, I knew if she was on, it was 6PM and in anhour i would get to watch Alton Brown. I'm still enjoying him but he too is getting under my skin. Ina Garten, well, she's either from Wisconsin or ispart of the Butter Lobby and I do love her but Ina, come on, stop with all that butter! My sister in law in rural Wisconsin farmville thinks Ina uses "just enough" butter. There I go losing site of the thread, Rachel Ray and her Chambers abuse. So this morning I asked Peter about slamming the oven door shut and he was horrofied at the thought As big and strong and beautifully designed as the Chambers is, it is still a precision piece of equipment and needs to be treated with respect. www.livejournal.com/community/rachael_ray_sux/

I like Treat's idea: ask them to do a special show utilizing the special features of the Chambers, and all of us would be in the audience. That would be a kick!
-
If she'd let us come on the show and demonstrate how to use her CHAMBERS, we could probably get enough interest to start making them again.
A cooperative effort - wouldn't THAT be something...
However, Whirlpool still owns the name, even though the guy in California is fighting them for it...
I'd just be happy if we could get her to let us do a show with her - fill a section of the audience with CHAMBERS owners and let someone demonstrate all it can do - sort of a modern-day version of Alma Chambers' Cooking School...
-
Ha', how do you look in heels? Just kidding, but in all seriousness, you would get my vote. With that souffle in the T-Well and the French Toast on the griddle, you could put together one heck of a "yummy" breakfast for the public to drool over. You could probably cook some of those doggie-biscuits in the oven at the same time!
-
Well, if Berlyn would hurry up with my Mikimoto 8mm single strand Christmas gift, I'm sure I could do it...let me find the wire rimless glasses and hair net.
-
Ha,
Don't forget the white pumps! I think we should really bug the heck out of the food network and get on the show. The problem is we would put Racheal Ray out of business, because we can do thirty minute meals while swimming, wathcing TV, reading a book....this list is endless.
Treatmaker
By the way I'm serious about the pics. I think it would be great to have all of us on the site with our stoves
-
The pics are a great idea and maybe we should do it with or without RachelRay. As far as the pumps go, is there a bag that matches? Maybe RachelRay's show could be "while the meal cooks and I am so bored out of mind, Miss Chambers gts a complete makeover".

Asfan,
The pearls are in the mail!!
Remember, June Cleaver with the lovely dress, high heels and strand of pearls doing the dishes.
No hair net there!!
I start my "remodeling" work on me next month. And I still laugh after you described the lady with the tight face lift when you went to look at a Chambers.
-
Berlyn, We're working with food here....after a fresh fingerwave, I'm sure I'll need the net to keep hair from falling into the food.
-
No hair net needed, we'll use AquaNet and you'll have instant helmet hair!! Ain't no hair going to move or be out of place or fall into the food.
-
OPEN CALL for ALMA CHAMBERS LOOK ALIKE !
-
Can I watch, Hu , can I?? I want to play too.
Pokey
-
Pokey, EVERYONE[!] can play!!! Perhaps, in honor of Thanksgiving, we should all put on our Alma Chambers outfits and post pics here. Berlyn, can you provide us with a community use can of AquaNet???
-
Perhaps an "on location" show...the camera and makeup crew arrives at our homes and we do a show! Each show could show all features of the stove but showcase one feature in particular. The oatmeal show might be kind of quick...but good!
-
A 101 ways to cook Irish Oatmeal with no gas!!
-
LOL Berlyn!!! Is that like 101 ways to cook beans with no gas???
-
Well She's on TV and I'm not.
Even though the chambers on her show works and
she uses it occasionally it is still mainly a
prop. If it wasn't it would be down front in
place of the one she cooks on.
One of the problems she has is the title of the
show 30 minute meals. That is very limiting.
Even though every one knows she doesn't do it in
30 minutes, or even by herself a large group of
people believe it. You know and I know that when
they cut to commercial the little elv's come out
and help her out.
She could work around the concept and time limit
and still show the versitility of the chambers if
she would use the thermowell.
In the morning before going off to work you through the stew ingredients into the thermowell.
Home from work Crusty bread with butter and
garlic from the broiler. Open a bag of Salad
and serve the stew. Total time 15 minutes prep
cooking time 8 hrs.
That is one way to start showing something realistic, especially now that winter is coming on
and the buzzword is "comfort food".

Whirlpool needs to give up the Chambers name. That is crazy. We should have the Chambers name. Why does the guy in California want the name? We should have the name and approach the food network about having a show cooking with the chambers range. We could all cook something twice a month. What great fun, I know it would be an instant succes!
Fatnsassy!
-
Are you all crazy? I feel like Grover Monster in the 1970s classic "The Monster at the End of This Book" But surely you must realize that is Rachel Ray used that stove more, making the Chambers Stove more popular, then the Chambers Stove would be more popular than it is today!
I agree that it is a prop. They just have it so she doesn't have her a-s-s in the air bending over to use a broiler where they tend to be on modern ranges. She so under-uses the Chambers that I'm kinda reluctant to even reference her stove when introducing people to the concept. Erin
-
Oh Erin, With the new 50" wide screen plasma screens,we could watch Rachel Ray could bend over while basting her rump roast and we all could see...well, maybe not the roast but certainly the...
