don't mean to upset anybody, and PLEASE for the love of God check your opinions at the door...
I will be leaving March 31st - April 1st. Set in stone. No working around it, no delays. Time to get on the bird, Bird.
I'm not gone yet, but I already miss you all. I do have addy's from certain people, and although I don't know where I'm going, will the first person to get a letter from me post the address up here? Jaye does indeed love mail, so please keep my spirits up.
I don't know what the situation is going to be like once I get there because I'm not a fortune teller, If I was, I wouldn't be in the army and I prolly wouldn't be as much fun as I am now, so I can't tell you much. I will decree that whatever I will be doing, I will remain safe and sound to the best of my abilities with every hope and chance of making it home in one piece. (I don't care how snazzy a Purple Heart looks, I don't want one. EVER.) Regardless, I will not keep any of you uninformed, and I hope to see you all soon.
Much love to all,
The Firebird.
-
Good luck 'bird - make it back safely man.
-
You'll be in our hearts and prayers, bird.
-
Take care my brotha. Jessie and I are with ya
-
I've been missing you since you first told me you might be going. Now I guess I'll have to miss you even more, huh?
This better not be all an elaborate scheme to get mail. Because, you know, it'll work.
Take care, Jaye.
-
I'll probably will talk to you before you're gone, but if not...
Take care. Be safe. Get back in one piece.
See you on the flipside.

1. Watch out for british helicopters.
2. Don't shoot any reporters they foist on your unit. If they get annoying, just remember two words. "Snipe Hunt"
3. Watch out for pissed of comrades with grenades.
4. Always be cautious when dealing with surrendering enemies.
5. Come back safe, or we all go hunt you down.
6. DON'T GET COCKY.

Mailing Addy
Sgt Powers, Thomas J
C Co 3-67 Armor
Unit #92608
APO AE 09323-2608
DO NOT SEND ANYTHING BUT LETTERS THE FIRST 30 DAYS. After that, feel free to bombard me with packages, but make sure they don't have any porn, drugs, beer, or chocolate. The first thre are forbidden and the last one is because I hate melted shit. And they can't weigh more than 66 pounds.
Take care.
-
no porn? whats the world comming to?
-
What's the reason for no packages for 30 days? Should I hold off on sending JD's package?
-
I think the 30 day ban is my battalion policy since we are just getting over there.
JD's package, I would ty to send since he's been there for a while.
-
Thanks bird and check your email!
-
don't fall off any more tanks, keep your head up, and send lots of love letters to your wonderful gal. our prayers and thoughts go with you
-
What if we sent it in dry ice though?
-
THEN THE ICE WOULD MELT!!!
God, do I have to think of everything!?!?
-
What? Are you going to the desert or something?
Actually, how long does dry ice last?
(no, not sending you chocolate, I'm too addicted to it myself)

I'll guess around 38 people give or take.
-
I am not at liberty to discuss manpower right now. Stupid classified information.
Also in case you were wondering, I turn a year older in 2 weeks cause I was born in 77
-
So do we give the youngun his birthday spanks now, or after he gets back?
-
-
Anyone else want get 66lbs of chocolate to send him? I think it'll cheer him up...
Go, man, go!
Kick ass!
-
Jax, you so much as send me a miniature hershey bar and you're OFF my x-mas list.

What, you WANNA see the guy get killed by his own platoon on mail day?
-
Hey 'Bird, remind me which day is your b-day. Cause mine is in 2 weeks, too (the 14th). I forget how close ours is (except for the huge fact that I was born in '71). I'm guess yours is the...12th?
Either way, happy b-day and have a safe trip.
*hugs*
-
*gets ready to do birthday dance*
Although I guess we need Miral here to do a REAL dance, eh? eh?
-
Sigh, children.
Anyway, dry ice doesn't melt. It goes directly from solid to liquid. (Unless you're under some bizzare amounts of atmospheric pressure, in which case I'm fairly sure you'd be squished before you could worry about melted chocolate.)
-
Sooo, it goes directly from solid to gas?
-
Yeah, it has something to do with the sublimation curve of a pure substance on a Press. v/s Temp. chart. I'm gonna stop there 'cuz I don't really understand thermodynamics that well. :)
-
OK, here's a question. Maybe I read a lot of weird books (gee, y'think?) but I run across the second rule of thermodynamics (entropy always increases in a closed system) a lot... but what's the first rule? How come no one ever rights a good anarchistic book about the first rule?
