Really? I love smell.
Smell of race gas in the morning or freshly cooked bacon, eggs, pancakes, bread, toast, cakes pizza
the smell of womens perfume, their frabric softener, their soap
the smell of fresh cut grass, rain in the forest, the smell a lake has in the evening just after the sun goes down
a set of freshly washed sheets
there are so many things I associate with smell that I can just smell them and I am back at that moment. Maybe that is why it is a memory sense.
YOU sure you would loose smell? Your mind can forget faces, places, but your nose never forgets a smell
the question isn't about that so much... as you
can say that about any of the senses you choose
to remove.
the question is which one you prefer to lose.
evidently tg doesn't place that much value on
the sense of smell....

i didnt rush into anything.
i love a lot of things involving smelling....such as shatzy's hair.
however lets look at the alternatives! SITE! TOUCH! HEARING!
C'mon..this is a no-brainer.
I contemplated choosing taste...and to be honest...it's probably a toss-up between those two.
the thing with taste, for me, is....
i'd rather smell... as i love to smell flowers
and cinnamon, and oranges, and paper....
and yes, i love my sense of taste as well...
but if i didn't have taste, i wouldn't be forced
to be so choosy in what i ate... and i could
eat better than i already do without much hassle.
i'd still not eat okra though.... or sauerkraut...

Now see I would have opted for hearing. I have heard about everything and sound doesnt thrill me as much as it use to and so much i can do with out it. I just doesnt provide the big thrill the rest do and besides I am almost totally deaf in my right ear anyhow so half way there
but losing your hearing makes communication so much harder and essentially that is the essence of life

Anyhow.. living in a big city where all you hear is cars , raidos, sirens, more cars, horns, people talking yelling, clubs, you go out to eat and have to yell to hear each other.... blaa blaa blaa.... it is nice to just get on the bike and zoom off to where there is no sound except that of the bike and well after riding this long I can mostly feel it now and smile.
If I had never tasted anything... I could easily go for that but having tasted food and drink and women couldnt loose that.
the significance of losing taste over the others
is the fact that while you will not taste flavor...
you can still smell food... since technically,
no one said anything about omitting fragrance.
in addition... you can 'feel' the texture/temp
of food... and thats just as good... like the
crunchiness of lettuce... or the soft coolness
of ice-cream... its what we are really after,
