right now i have JRSC 6 psi on my 98 civic.
after a year or so, i got a liitle used to the power and now i want more.
what is the easiest way to get more out of my m45 and yet still riliable and pass smog.
i live in Cal, so i concern smog as well.
I thought about endyn, but 17 psi sound way to high for stock internals.
If anyone have more details about the D series, let me know
thanks

10psi is about maximum for a stock engine.
Sorry for the mis information on the stepper. Wacked my head today at work and now have a small concussion. Probaly should not post tips until I can think clearly http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

Have you thought about water injection. It allows you to return your timing to stock or better.
Also, do you have cam gears? It's usually best to adjust the cam gears on a dyno but they definetely help. I believe 228GSR gained 14hp from his cam gears(correct me if I'm wrong Frank).
What about a high flow cat?
There's plenty of ways to squeeze a little extra power out, you just need money. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
-
It was only 10hp http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif But I'll be going back to try and squeeze some more out of it soon.

I'm waiting till after i install and tune my injectors, before I hit up the dyno again.
Since I've been butt dyno'ing a few combinations...i was curious if i could try your combo as well http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif What in/ex settings gave your setup 10whp?
thanks

Stepper pulley won't work on your 989-200 kit. You need to replace either the crank pulley or the blower pulley for more psi.
Keep in mind that to safetly move up in boost you are going to need at a MINIMUM the following items:
-larger injectors
-higher capacity fuel pump
-Cartech FMU
-J&S Ultra
-3.25" blower pulley
Clayton
-
Can the Civic's use the stepper pully? I don't think so 'cause the blower pully and altenator pullly are in-line with each other and use the same belt. Wouldn't the stepper pully cause a misalignment problem?
Get the endyn mods to your blower before cranking up the boost. The blower's output will be cooler and you'll get more cfm's with the same pully. If your not sure about this mod, call endyn and ask if it's for you.
Good luck.

HAHAHA......RIC, finally tired of the "D" too, huh? Man you not going to like this, but B/H-series MOTOR SWAP!!!!! If ya serious about upgrading the M45, then you really need to send her off to Endyn. Like Tom said, just don't use the 3.0 pulley supplied by Endyn. Get with Hooper(phil), but I think after the modification max boost w/ 3.8 pulley changes from 6psi.

hahaha, man u should know.
anyway, what are u plans now?
i know this shop that do lots of swap, and they can get me JDM motor hydrolic cluth for 3000 installed. Unless i can get rid of the SC, i might try swaping for sth else.
See u later

I think nearly every person who had a D series JRSC on this board has gotten rid of it or is looking to get rid of it. Myself, sjoback, boostedex, waveoff, bigkat, and a few others.
It just doesn't make the power and it has a large detonation problem even before you upgrade. Mine was detonating after just a few days of owning the kit and I had to order the big pump immediately. All of my other mods after installing the JRSC were trying to monitor and eliminate the detonation before proceeding to higher boost levels. Then the real problems began.
Go with a swap or a turbo or get a different car if either of those options don't appeal to you.
BTW, you mispelled Covina in your sig.

Which motor are you looking at? I was thinking of going B20, but everyone and there mom is go'n that route. I narrowed my decision down to picking up an low mileage 94-95 GSR or saving to buy an ITR swap. Almost tired of the boost issues. Though running a nice 8psi on my H22 sounds nice as hell http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

This gain was made at 12 degrees btc. This was before my JR BTC was installed and the timing is now at 16 degrees BTC. I spoke to Jim about it and he said that changing the timing when I got the BTC installed could have thrown off the HP numbers. I'm not very mechanically inclined so I don't know which side is the intake and exhaust. I think the intake is +2 and exhaust is +5. I'm positive on the numbers, just not which one is which.

Bigkat,
Why not go B18B? Those motors are a dime a dozen and start life with a turbo friendly 9:1 compression. Bottom end is fairly tough and is actually a larger engine than the B18C which means more torque. Food for thought.

man, we got the same taste on the motor.
i either want a b18 c1 or spare enough and get b18c5. if i really need to swap, i would do it right. B 16 may not be what i want since most of them that i rode is not that fast at all.

hey marc,
quick question, is it really, the b18b stock is 9:1 compression? what would be the max boost(turbo) for street driving and reliablity? maybe it's 10 psi too? correct me if i'm wrong. thanks in advance.

Man, I know. But I'm really leaning toward an B18C(5) all-motor set-up if I go hybrid route. I already have the torque with my H22 hybrid. We are also considering trading in my coupe for this '98 GSR w/ 30K on OD or an 2k Celica GTS. My girl has a lot to do with my decision.
-
Oh know! Bigkat is whooped...j/k. The GSR is a nice car. I didn't test drive the Celica when I was looking for a new car so I can't comment but the GS-R is a great car. I'd forget the Type R motor. They get an arm and a leg for those engines and they are geared for naturally aspirated applications.
Fourbanger: Yes the B18B comes with 9:1 from the factory. It's always difficult to say how much boost you can run on a daily basis because it depends on your setup. I have heard some people running 9 psi daily on a B18B and crank it to 15psi at the track. But remember there are multiple factors that will determine your boost level and nothing is written in stone.

HEAH.......I'm not whooped. Man, I can't help that she is good to me http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I got to look out for my girl you know. Any way, thanks for the suggestions. Buying a Teg sounds really good to me. Then pick up a used JRSC of the net and swap in a Quaife LSD. Swap over my gauges, Cartech fmu, RC 310's(if possible), ect and we are set. Then I will have two 13 sec street cars. Well, only the H22 hybrid will see track duty.
