Hey S.P. sorry man, I have no idea, I'm afraid. They were clips sent to me years ago by a good drummer friend/vinnie fanatic.
The first two solo cutouts are from a Los Tombomys concert in 1988. You don't wanna know who's on the congas while Vinnie is soloing.....

This is the Audiophile Import link on the Live album, from which the solo is from. Vinnie plays on two tunes. Carlos Vega on one Tune. The rest is Jeff Porcaro.
One of the great moments on this CD is when they play "Little Wing" ( You know how much Luke and Jeff loved Hendrix ). Great playing.
hey zombywoof, yeah i live in hong kong but im not performing any time soon, at leastot for now...the hong kong music scene sucks...all the drummers that play at clubs and stuff are really low standard and just..its crap! its the worst place to want to be a musician. Theres this just one guy who basically dominates the music scene. when are u coming to hong kong?
i will be in thailand and hong kong (not at the same time [img]wink.gif[/img] )between sept 23 and oct 1. hong kong will be the second half of my trip (sept 28 - oct 2). if the music scene is that bad, it sounds like a great place for some hungry musicians to invade! i am traveling with a large tour group (not a band). i am not even sure of the hotel i am staying in. i could find out though. i just put it all in the hands of a trusty tour company, letting them handle all the details.

Klemme is correct - they are from the tune "All Blues," off Los Lobotomys' CD "The Legendary Lobotomys Live Album"...their version of [or tribute to] the Miles Davis tune...disc says '89, altho it's quite possible it was recorded sometime in '88.
They are two of Vinnie's trades [the first & fourth trades] right after Luke's gtr solo...trades #2 & 3 are darn wicked too...[VC on the whole tune, actually, of course.]
If I rem correctly, these clips were originally on a now-defunct "Vinnie Colaiuta tribute" site; ...Pitt.edu, perhaps?
Too bad whoever set up the clips didn't include the bars or so beforehand to set up the groove of the clips [even though you can hear it once you listen carefully]...I "hate it when that happens" [img]wink.gif[/img] ...set up the clips / establish the groove! [don't just cover the lick; establishing the groove - at least 1 to 4 bars of it beforehand/preceding it - shows that much more of how hot it is!] [img]cool.gif[/img]
If Vinnie is on 2 of the 10 tunes, the other one must be the rock-shuffle "Smell Yourself"...I can't hear Vinnie being on anything other but...'Smell' feels a lot more like him if he's indeed on two of them [since my copy does'nt list the indy trax / players {:c( ]

There are some transcriptions of those trades (all blues)... i've seen them on MD and on thedrumland.com . I'm not sure about this but i think i've seen two different transcriptions of those same trades.

I have that T2F disc thx to an HOD brutha, here...
While I am thankful to have it, as it is a decent disc w some cool stuff on there, there is nothing on it that even rivals that one tune All Blues...& the drumming on Document & [what little I've heard from] the Dyno 4 / Potato / Mathieson gigs is WAY more mind-blowing [not that that's what it's about, i know]...but I just wasn't as impressed w the T2F disc as were a lot of folks [as i am w the above mentioned]...
As you can see, I likes my 'Shredder Vinnie' too... [img]wink.gif[/img]

I would definitely agree that the Dyno4/Mathieson/Landau/Laboriel is far above the T2F. It is my all time fav--nothing better!! [img]cool.gif[/img] I feel lucky to have it!!!

Isn't that picture from the video that Sting did for the Mercury Falling CD? I remember seeing them in Sting's home (Like the Ten S's tales) and they were sitting at a table eating for Sting's birthday... Vinnie had the green maple customs...Is that right???? Does anybody have this video? Or what's it called?
