DROVE TO SOUTHEN CALIFORNIA FROM SONOMA COUNTY WITH MY DAUGHTER MEGAN. WE STOPPED IN L.A. AND VISITED THE L.A. COUNTY MUSEUM, LUNCH AT THE FARMER'S MARKET, AND DINNER IN SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO. ARRIVED ON CORANADO ISLAND THAT NIGHT. CHLOE WAS SALVAGED FROM A HOME ON THE ISLAND AND WAS CURRENTLY BEING HOUSED IN A WAREHOUSE IN SANTEE. DUE TO THE COMPUTERS BEING DOWN AT U-HAUL WE WERE FORCED TO SPEND SAT. AT THE BEACH AND DELAY PICKING UP CHLOE TILL SUNDAY. SUNDAY MORNING WE MET GWEN FROM THE DISCUSSION BOAD AND BRAD THE SELLER IN SANTEE WITH BRAD'S FRIEND DAN. WE LOADED HER UP AND SAID GOOD-BYE AND THEN HEADED OVER TO MEET IDA AT GWEN'S LOVELY HOME THAT SHE IS RESTORING. WE GOT A LATE START HOME AND ENDED UP SLEEPING ON THE ROAD, BUT FINALLY MADE IT BACK TO SEBASTOPOL. WHAT A TRIP! I THINK WE DROVE 1300 MILES. CHLOE SUSTAINED NO INJURIES ON THE TRIP, NOR DID MY BACK. THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S SUPPORT ON THE BOARD AND ESPECIALLY THANKS TO GWEN.

Did you ever notice that you can't get a plain old wired USB keyboard anymore? They're all wireless. Why does anyone need a wireless keyboard? Where are you going to go with it, it just sits about five inches in front of your monitor, and never moves, so a wire isn't inconvenient.
I guess everything has to be wireless these days, it's a marketing thing.
Oh, and check that caps lock key, I think it might be stuck. Could be time for a new keyboard.

It's not stuck, my eyes were tired. The Rs are sticking on mine, however. I haven't pondered the need for a wireless keyboard before, but if I think of a reason for one, I'll share it with you.

It sounds like you had a very successful trip. What do you think of the stove? Ready to accessorize? We are always searching for pots, salt and pepper shakers, etc.
Warning, it's difficult to only have just one Chambers.

There is an appliance guy near you in the town of Sonoma. His name is Johnny. Phone is 707 996-9730. He won't be back at the store until July 1st. He supposedly has parts.
I take my dog up to the Russian River once in a while. Our next visit will be next month. We'd love to see Chloe.

You reminded me that he was up there in Sonoma (when you asked me if I knew of any Chambers parts/repairs sources in the Bay Area I had forgotten about them--while they aren't strictly the 'Bay Area' they are pretty close!).

Danny, my stove is masculine - he just dosen't have a typical masculine name - 'Beauty". "HIs" energy is quietly masculine (it's all about energy for me).
My mother lives in Sonoma (as I used to). She says there is a very expensive Freedom Red in the window at Johnny's.
Ellen's stove is a C - low back (isn't it? - I am not getting photos - are you?)
Danny you should keep an eye on the SF craigslist. One time they were even giving a Chambers away - and it was a sweet one - I called (perhaps willing to fork out for shipping but luckily - as they were going to throw it out, it was adopted).
I bought my Bluebird (blue C) on the Palo Alto craigslist. I use crazedlist and I can search half the US at a time.

The stove is beautiful. The color is very soft. I am already going to local thrift and salvage stores to look for Chambers items. I may develope a taste for gray granite ware or splatter ware as well.

D'OH--well, this is the wrong thread for this "answer"--Chloe is most definitely a 'C' & you weren't asking that anyway because you already know her model!!!). At least I can edit my post & add this silly note. Unlike what our congress critters do with the Congressional Record, I will not just remove my mistake.
Hi there. Chloe looks like a B (I think 14-B, cuz mine is a 15-B & the only difference I see is that you have the enamel top & I have chrome). The famous tag will tell all if it is there on the outside front of your thermowell--which it probably is. I had to unscrew mine & clean it to get a really good look at the numbers.
I've only had Elmer (I've decided we need some male stoves around here, so I'll post a little story on the board about why Elmer in the 'How I heard of Chambers. . .' thread) since just after Easter, but my amazement over how well these guys cook hasn't waned. You have lots of fun ahead of you!

Of course it is a C. . .I posted that bit to the wrong thread. D'OH! When I want to add to more than one thread I find that I need to keep an additional tab with the thread I'm replying to so I can make sure I'm answering the right one & I failed to do so when I did this one (obviously :-)).
Chloe is the pretty grey one from down south, right?
Anyway, Elmer came from a craigslist posting, and I also acquired him for free. But I'll post that story to the right thread later today.
I better go figure out where I meant to post that 'B' identification & put it in the right place :-).
Glad to see another Californian on here, even one living elsewhere now. Are you a native too? I was born in SoCal.

Hi Danny, you are getting to be quite the expert I see. I guess the next generation has arrived. Wouldn't it be cool if you and Ellen could visit!
I was born in Berkeley, grew up all over but spent about my whole adult life (up until about 6 years ago) in Sonoma County. Isn't San Fransisco the best? My mother was born there - at UCSF where her father was going to medical school - I was born at Alta Bates where that Grandfather had become Chief Surgeon.
Now we need some more Chambers people in NC!

I'm beginning to think that if we can't have a national Chambers lovers anonymous meeting---errr, I mean CONVENTION---then we should begin to have regional meetings.
Perhaps we should start by calling out our individual whereabouts in a more formal way, for those who feel comfortable about doing that? I'm thinking a frapper map entry for this board. I'll look into setting one up for the group & start a thread to explain what it is to the unfamiliar & see if people want to sign in to it (putting a 'pin in the map' is pretty painless & anonymous, so you don't have to share much information in doing so). If there isn't an interest it won't go anywhere, if there is it will at least be fun to see where we are spread around.
I'd never heard of crazedlist until you mentioned it. It looks to be a great idea. I hope the craigslist folk don't come down on the guy who developed it. I'm all for the developing community idea behind CL, but especially for buying/selling it just doesn't make sense to not give people tools to do more efficient searching.

Right now Chloe is wrapped in blankets and plastic wrap in my garage, but she may be ready to receive guests in a month. I will be visiting a couple of urban salvage stores, and the like and will report back on my findings. I can pass the store in Sonoma if I commute home the long way (I work in Napa). I'll check it out and give you all a report. Curently editing my trip photos to put up on the site. Never done that before, but seeking help from my 'My Space' savey teenagers.
