here ya go
What if you have naturally curly hair?
shit...yer talkin to the PomadeKing....the pompadour 101 thing is good, but not if you dont wanna part it....
start with damp hair. comb it straight back all over.
take some American Greaser SUpply 90wt(or whatever strong hold brand you use) on the tips of yer fingers (not a whole lot, use multiple steps when applyin yer doo-goo). rub yer mits together so each hand has an equal amount. at the "corners" of your forhead go straight back all the way. get more goo, do the sides. now, comb it all through, front to back. now get a little bit more (less than before) and just do the roots and about halfway up of the hair you wanna lift....dont comb that through! you want that stiff! now, this next part is of some debate, this is how i do it...take a plain barbers comb (wider end) and comb the hair you want lifted straight up...make it stand on end. now, gently fold the top of the hair back to meet the hair behind it...this gives you the nice fold over look and not the "box head" kinda thing...now, with the comb, even out the lifted hair, always combing up and blending it in with the rest....if you want some good shimmer off it, get some AGS 40wt. its loose but shines like the damn stars. take a little, go over the sides and back (DONT TOUCH THE FRONT unless you wanna re-do that again). recomb the sides and make em slip down the middle of the back of yer noggin, take the end of the comb, slap it straight down the back of yer head, give it a little wiggle, and you got a nice little --however understated -- DA goin on....
how curly is curly?? if its really curly you are S.O.L. if its just wavy (like mine) you can experiment with lo-rise pomps, or you can just keep making your hair do what you want it to do, eventually it "learns" what to do.....if you have any questions feel free to send me a message on here, or on yahoo at: greaserboy_20.
the PomadeKing has left the building.
You know pompadours aren't a great thing to have if you are trying to pick up chicks. It has been brought to my attention that pompadours tend to remind girls of their creepy uncle that molested them growing up.
i dont know...i landed me a good gal. she didnt mind.
Well it is hard to convince average girls that aren't necassarily clued in and not into any sort of music other than what they see on mtv that a pompadour is great.
looks like yer after the wrong kinda girl homey...
Well, i have naturally wavy and curly hair. i just keep it cut nice and short and all american. Im a toyota/hyundai salesman by day and i play in a punk/ska band by night. when i gig, i usually just wear a baseball cap. It hides my brutal normal appearance from the "punker than thou" crowd. I guess things get that way when your 33 years old. However, Heavily greased curly hair looks kind of cool if you can do it right. experiment.

Yeah.. I don't know what gretschy is talking about..This kitten purrs for a smooth talking cat with pomped hair, rolled up indegos, nice shoes- freshly shined, topped off with some tattoos.. ooh how I swoon. If other chicks don't get it, lucky me.. they're loss is my gain.
and i was lucky enough to find my kitten wearin espadrille's, capris, bettie bangs, and cherry red lips.....
she's my hot rod mamma.......
if you want a good style for the wavy hair...check out the group photo from the inside of the self titled album....they pretty much show varrying hairstyles.....any good barber shop (i mean a REAL barber shop) should be able to swing it for ya.
I am always after the wrong girls, god damn erections keep leading me in the wrong direction.
Many moons ago when I was a crusty punker, I used to iron it str8 so I could crank up the liberty spikes, might try that again,I'll probably end up burning my head! Can't wear my creepers without a good hairdo though so hear goes.
was just wondering where you could find some ags pomade thanks
we're shitouttaluck to buy it in stores in the midwest...if you want it you gotta get it online. www.8ballwebstore.com has it, and a few other websites. just go to google and type in "American Greaser Supply". basically you want a firm hold pomade WITHOUT BEESWAX!!! after a while you will notice certain areas of yer forehead creepin back to your neck. beeswax clogs the hair folicles and kills em.
if you want something easy you can buy, American Crew pomade works pretty well. good hold, good shine, but you gotta use a little bit more than you would say if you were using Royal Crown, Black and White, Goat Girl, AGS, or Murray's. AGS is good because its like $6 for a 7 oz can. das a lotta goo.....
if you are goin fer the Mike Ness look (round the time of self titled, and somewhere between...)then you aint lookin for a pompadour. its a mix between a flat top, a wedge, and a pomp. get the sides and back cut as a flat top, but leave the hair in the front longer so you can comb it up and over like a pomp. no offense against the man...but thats what i call "box head"
DONT USE AGS SUPER 90WT!!!!!!!!! its ALL beeswax, and its hard, and stiff, and a pain in the ass to use!
later cats and kittens.
Well, it didn't look like a two-horse town, but try finding a decent hair jelly. I don't want Fop, godammit! I'm a Dapper Dan man!

LOL, good movie
the coen brothers are genious
Thanks for the info. pomadeking, I appreciate it
well whatya know...this town is a geographical oddity, two weeks from everything!
that was on last night, watched it before i went out....
How do you get that Murrays shit out of your hair? lol
first off, ya dont wanna get it all out of yer hair everytime you wash it....that gets spensive, and is a waste of grease.
second, a good clarifying shampoo usually works.
or, there is my way: when ya get in the shower, we yer hair, shampoo it, but DONT RINSE IT!!!, take some baking soda (not powder!) and sprinkle it on yer head...let it sit while you finish showering...now rinse yer melon.
nice and clean...the water and baking soda creates heat (dont worry...you wont feel it), and the soda gives the goo something to cling on to...
thats all ya need to know....
Thanks King I'll have to try that I spent two days trying to get it out so i could get a haircut. ******* school dont like 7 inch hair even if its slicked.
wha?!?!?!?!
thats unamerican man...
commy pinko leftist bastards...

how does one iron their hair straight? cuz my hair is kinda wavy and i really want liberty spikes
if you want liberty spikes use gelatin. its messy but it works and if you really wnat liberty spiks use rubber cement you'll have them for months were as if you use the gelatin you'll have to redone it vere few days depending on how much you sweet
sorry, i have to correct myself. THIS is the most pathetic topic i've read here for f_ucking ages!! welcome to the sickboys barber shop board! don't you know people in your real lifes???
I love the asshole you are being kraut.. and the hypocracy behind it, being that you have 102 posts.. the most by far. So thank you for your judgement and god bless. As soon as you can find a great topic, feel free to make a point.

Yeah, but Kraut's 102 posts aren't all from this board...
yes, KoF, I figured that much.. still think he's being a jerk for saying all the posts are lame, given..this topic is a little repeatitive.. screw it.. I really don't care either way. So.. I love pompadours.
I got rid of any pompadour or attempt at a pompadour I had. I stand by my statement that the pompadour or any greased up hair-do can sometimes tend to remind the ladies of that creepy uncle they had that touched them inappropriatly.
My new haircut seems to be doing the trick and I havent been stood up for a date yet.... but then again I haven't got a date yet.
Is there any way (and this may be a very VERY dumb question) that you can do a pomp with out the incredibly greasy look.(i guess i mean the wet shine of it)
oh yah..
car salesman do it all the time...
hair spray or some non-wet look gel works the best for that....its hard to find a pomade that doesnt have a good shine.
Bed Head makes a thing called Control Freak -- bright blue, smells like coconut -- that would work...
but with the non-shiny version you tend to look like a used car salesman...
or you can just use pomade and then blowdry it...that's what my girlfriend (hair guru) recommended.
PK
anyone know how to do a girl pomp? i keep trying and all i ever seem to do is make a mess...haha
wow, this topic was really pulled out of the archives. Almost 2 1/2 years old. I would like to recommend the use of LayRite pammade. It works for me really well. I have wavy curly hair and it straightens it out and holds it nicely.
In regard to both the non-greasy looking pomp and liberty spikes, two words: Elmer's Glue. It will easily hold hair at least a foot tall and washes out very easily.
yes but what about the ladies? i dont particularly want glue in my hair, and i heard chicks arent supposed to use gel anyway, just hairspray. i dont know, anyone want to help me out?
