shouldn't using a pc classify you as 'more' nerdy than if you were using a mac? I mean- aren't most computer geeks pc users?

Also- when I clicked 'yes' on every question, I only scored a 93.79%. Why is that? Something's amiss I say!

Score: 49 for a 10.49%...I think all those bullies in High School just didn't understand I was really cool...the test says so!

How can you be a message board moderator with a score that low? You should barely be able to operate a solar calculator if that's you're real score...

<font size="2" face="Comic sans ms, Helvetica, sans-serif">To the first part I would say no, as Macs are seen as the nerd tool of computer nerds (all my friends who work in the field of computers use macs, or bemoan the fact that they don't use macs at work).

And you got a 93.79% because you lost a point for using a pc instead of a mac. If you were on a mac, you would've gotten 100%

I also contest the loss of one point for not using a mac. 90% of the nerds and geeks I know are die-hard PC users.

I'm 34.05%. So...well, I don't know what that means.

Wow, thought I'd be more of a nerd considering all the computer work I do. I scored 179 or 38.33%. I did lose a point for using a Windows machine (but I do know how to use a mac!).

I'm far more normal than I thought:

But Rich still gets extra points for being able to explain why Mac users are nerdier. Nerdiest person I worked with at my last job was a Mac user. I borrowed his laptop while working in the lab. Brilliant guy. Not the most sociable person, but very smart. Most cluttered cubicle as well.

I think I scored a 40-something my first time through.

Look- I'm on a mac right now! In fact, I've got the latest ibook- and let me tell you how happy I am! [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

But getting back to geekiness...

My friends who are reeeaally into computers- and are btw the epitome of "nerd"- would not touch a mac with a ten foot pole! Even my girlfriend (who is little miss computer wiz!) said "don't get a mac- pc's can do so much more for the memory!" These friends are scientists, programmers and (god forgive them) lawyers. My last computer was a franken-pc built by one such friend. These people only communicate via internet and know trivia about trivia- they *are* the nerd factor!

Even my gf is a gizmo geek- last year it was a palm pilot, this year a laptop and snazzy new cell phone.

The only people I know who use macs are artists and creative types.

Frankly I don't understand HOW I ended up with such a low nerd facto. Neither do I comprehend the clear and unfounded bias against Macs!

Of course it is. As are all surveys. Yes, Mac use is a stereotype. If you were a real nerd you'd be accessing through a Linux system. ;)

Am I the only person who wonders whether Linux sytems come with their own security blankets?

Mac vs Pcs: As someone who knows, owns, and works with both, I shake my head at the endless debate. It's like arguing whether Star Wars or Star Trek is the better sci-fi. It could go on forever.

Both systems have their advantages, both have their cons. I find it amusing how both camps refuse to learn the other. My company gets a lot of Apple business just because in-house IT departments refuse to learn it. And vice-versa. They're not as different as they seem.

I will also say that Mac's OS X is a gorgeous operating system (and soooooo stable), but I still prefer the way things are done in Windows. I will will probably always be a PC user, but I like Macs a lot, too. In fact, the new G5's have me drooling. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

So, was that too much of a ramble on nerdy things?

And just for the record (and 'cus it was mentioned) I think that Star Trek was much better Sci Fi than Star Wars. Star Wars was better action adventure.
