My Walbro pump, it's kind of noisy and it whines. Seems to do it now that's it's bee hot. It fades in and out too.... should I be worried?

Do you notice any drops in fuel pressure or severe variations in idle pressure ???

Nothing serious no. When it's hot, it's down about 5 psi, but it doesn't drop off or flucuate much at all.
Jim, BTW, my max psi is 75 psi with the cartech riser (310 injectors).
Maybe a different pump is needed?
Are you using the GSS-317 or GSS-342 pump ???

No, the 317 is the low output...the 314 is output is the 255lph one.
Bzzzzt! The 342 is the HO model. 317 is low pressure.

I do notice my GSS342 idle pressure drops approx. 4-6 psi and back to normal sometimes. It that an indication of a fuel pump going bad? It doesn't seem to have any problems at high pressure during boost. I originally thought it was caused by a sticky piston inside the Cartech. The problem went away for awhile after I polished the piston, but it just came back a few days ago...

It's the Cartech causing idle FP variations. I set mine up with just an AEM FPR and it would idle at a rock solid 25psi. Once the Cartech re-entered the picture, idle FP varies between 25psi and 30psi and will stick as high as 35psi (my static setting) after hard boosting.

OH man..what am I saying? I meant the 342, not 314...
Been meaning to ask for awhile, and with all the current fuel issues, I need to know. I'm wondering if anyone could recall the type of pumps JR is selling.
I don't recall if it was two or three types that they sold, but I asked Travis at the time and he said the highest output model would cause me to run too rich. I dug up my invoice but only lists item as 'HO pump'.

Lundgren, I get exactly the same thing with my Walbro GS-342, I think it is normal, but not really desirable. I believe Endyn had a discussion going about the how the Walbro pumps all lose pumping capacity as they get hotter and become less efficient, and that is why they preferred the Bosch Endyn-modified pump. I lose about 4 psi max. I think if your tuned up to start this is nothing to worry about unless you see the max loss start to climb over time. The noise is annoying as hell though sometimes. I can't get anyone at Endyn to return my emails inquiring about the modified pump : (

It DOES fit in the tank, though it takes a bit of work. I've installed one in a GSR. It's a bit challenging, but Endyn warns folks and provides some decent instructions on how to get it to fit. Anyone expecting it to just drop in is mistaken.

yeah I know technically it fits, but it is so much easier to mount external.
don't get the bosch endyn modified pump. It won't even fit in the tank anyway. just get a regular bosch and externally mount it. here's the info I pulled from the shamdyne site:

Where is a good place to buy one of these pumps at a decent price? You can't trust anyone on Ebay selling "bosch fuel pump" because they're all out of volvos and volkswagens and crap out at any high pressure or flow rate.
