Do you belive that people with special abilities exist? Do you belive in telekinesis, levitation, clarvoyance, etc?
Nobody has ever porven the existance of such powers but many speak of them.
I am a skeptic and i say that such thigs cannot exist. They were invented by people who couldn't "find a rational explanation" for certain events.

I think people can do them, as we only have used 10% of our brains, and look at what we've achieved already? I'm sure that at even 30%, we'd have some type of powers. Although I do doubt that anyone has done them at this point in time.

Telekinesis and levitation would require an additional, undiscovered form of energy. Clarvoyance is even stranger. I'll quote Carl Sagan: "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." I won't believe in that only because my aunt says so or I have seen it on some low-budget sensationalist TV documentary. Once it's properly studied, and once scientists can detect a reliable cause-effect relation on this, I'll <s>believe</s> know it's true. Believing is not in my agenda.

Exactly. Unless and until proven otherwise, these are old people's tales. And IF some of them do exist after all, there must be a completely precise, logic, scientific explanation and laws behind it, as a part of the Universe. If something exists, it's not supernatural, it's natural, no matter how unfrequent and curious. Magic begins and end in people's imagination. Also keep in mind that mirrors looked like pure magic to indians, yet there's a very easy explanation behind them and they are nowhere out of Science and the laws of Physics, only they didn't know.

But although we do use only a small part of our brain, the rest of it is made of the same thigns, and it doesn't look like it's special and it may produce strange effects. Maybe they do exist and Science hasn't discovered and understood them yet, but scientists haven't found any clue that makes them think there could be some really amazing powers waiting for us if we used all of our brains, other than outstanding intelligence and memory.

Yea, I've known it for awhile, but I wanted to make sure my thinking was correct.
It most surely is; I knew about the activity graphs, and the basics of its structure, as well as the fact most of it is made of pretty much the same things. I also knew that if a part of the brain is damaged, the nearing parts will eventually take care of its functions, often rather successfully, and that memory is distributed so when you lose something, you lose details, not complete events. I wonder how I could know all this and still assume what I always heard about the 10% thing was right.

Problem is, we have too much imagination, and when back to reality, things look boring. But they aren't quite so. The space seems to be full of mysteries far beyond what we imagined, for example. And there are so many great places in the world, amazing effects of Physics laws, and tricks to discover.
I stilll don't tthink it's boring.
Come to think of it, there are too many possible sex poses for reality to get boring.

Hmm... I think you misunderstood my previous post. I meant that reality is not boring beacuse of the many possible sex poses, not that sex gets boring.
Sex doesn't get boring, even plain ol' missionary is fun cause you get to look at the girl...
Reality doesn't get borign, and even if it were, we have the many things like games/anime/books/movies, or our own imagination.
I wish I could read people's minds, that would be the most useful power.

For me, i would have the ablity to use paper, or to fly. Would be mundo fun.
I'd like to hear them just as if they were speaking out loud, only not as loud as normal conversation (for it to not be disturbing) and with some phase change or flanger so I can distinguish between thoughts and speech when I'm not looking.
Okay here is my ultimate special abilities.
First of all, I'd dress in awesome cool "cyberpunk" themed clothes, y'know with wires and stuff on various parts of my clothing. I'd wear big old goggle things too.
Okay, I would be able to be a super hacker and be able to mildly interface with most computers. I'd be able to type in a computer without touching a keyboard. I'd be able to trun someone's webcam on without them knowing. I'd be able to read your mail.
I'd be able to get your credit card numbers(Crap,don't mod this for illegal activities. I in no way would ever do any of these things) I'd be able to turn the volume all the way up on your speakers while you lsiten to a loud song. I'd be able to deactivate security systems.
Thats what my super power would be.

Just to slow down time alone would be worth it.
Or how about the power to stop time and you be the only moving thing but you could alter stuff, that'd be very tight.
Any power that lets you manipulate reality to your interests is good. But I still think hearing what others think would be the best way to do it. (Imposing your thoughts on others would be much faster, but it would get boring. Besides, I don't want a people to like me because I feel like it.)

But omnipotence is impossible and omniscience looks like it is as well, I'm sure if I think about it for a few mins I'll be able to disprove it by reduction to the absurd.
thats the point of these powers wise, lol they ARE impossible (for humans atleast) basically and omnipotency and omniscience would fall into the desireable slot IMO =P
