I will be installing RC 440cc injectors and an SMC (the original one) soon, I've been putting this off for too long [img]tongue.gif[/img] .
What I've noticed is that the top of RC injectors don't have a "rubber flange" like DSM 450s or 290cc injectors. Refer to pics with arrows. I've bought some injector seal kits to use for the RCs (the green seal that goes into the manifold) and they come with this "flange". Do I need to replace the one on the RC with it or just leave it be? BTW, this is going into a '96 cx hatch (SOHC non-vtec). Thanx

I dont think you will have problems installing them. I put my 270's in my rail and my 440's with no problems. both of them looked like yours.

What is the purpose of that "flange"?

I think i has to do with the overall maesurement of the injector in a "installed" state. I could be wrong though just put them in and put plenty of vasoline on the O ring then check for fuel leaks. you should be just fine.

those 440's look like mine. I just lubed that o ring at the top where the rail goes and slapped the rail on top of it... all done.

DO NOT USE VASELINE!
Vaseline is a no no with any type of rubber. It deteriorates rubber. Do not use Vaseline on rubber, especially O-rings for your fuel system

What would you suggest instead? A dab of oil?

Just a smear of motor oil around the o-ring would be fine.

Well I have used vasoline on about 30 sets of injectors and have yet to have 1 leak.

Helms manual says motor oil.
Vasoline "no good for condoms either" say father of 9.

Vasoline?? Why would I use that?

to lubricate the oring as it slides into the fuel rail. if you do not use some kind of lubricant there is a good chance you will pinch the oring and have a fuel leak
