Just curious if there is something that has replaced peoples B5 obsession.
Recently my boyfriend managed to make a huge mistake. He asked me to watch 24 on DVD. I am hooked. I had avoided watching the series because I knew the real time format would suck me in but he insisted. I think he is a wee bit surprised by my ability to obsess over a tv show. He does not believe me when I say that B5 was actually worse.

Hmm, As far as TV shows go, Desperate Housewives and Gray's Anatomy are my current faves, with Gray's at the top actually.
SciFi Friday is pretty cool.
And Reality TV still sucks me in.
Not sure any of them would be obsession worthy.
Well, the next thing that came along was Farscape, which was brilliant. Unfortunately it got cancelled, which caused a huge fan fight back, including 70 brits holding a rally in London. I helped [img]smile.gif[/img]
I tried moving on to Enterprise, but that never really got me.
Firefly had a short yet shiny life.
Both Farscape and Firefly (Serenity) were revived as features, which pleased me no end.
So, what to watch now? I watch Lost, but I'm not hooked. Same with Stargate Atlantis. Battlestar Galactica has its moments, but I'm starting to lose interest in that too.

I totally agree with you. B5, Farscape and Firefly had me as a avid fan. I couldn't wait for each ep, made it a point to be home, cruised the message boards and POSTED (lol).
I watch the shows you mentioned, but none of them inspire that kind of loyalty in me. I try to be home to watch them, but if I miss, it doesn't seem that important.
24 has been set on the DVR and I post on a pretty regular basis. Tracking down spoilers...

I agree about Farscape and Firefly. I just saw Serenity and feel that cancelling Firefly was a huge mistake.
Right now I watch Survivor and Monk. And My Name is Earl caught my attention, although last week's episode was not appealing. Oh! and I like Lost.
I can't say that I've ever obsessed over a television show like I did over B5. Farscape was next best in scifi, but it didn't take me over like B5.
I started out watching Battlestar Galactica, but I've lost interest in that. I never got hooked on Lost, and the epsisodes I've seen don't pique my interest.
Right now, I watch mostly sports, or reality shows.
BMat, I just heard that they are taking a two week break from filming My Name is Earl because Jason Lee has the chicken pox.
I had never really watched B5 to begin with. Or watched much of any tv beyond pro wrestling. However, I did try watching "Commander in Chief" and was doing pretty good with it until I forgot to watch it one week due to homework or something, then I forgot about it the next week, so now I don't even bother.
I also got hooked on watching "Grounded for Life" in reruns. I had caught an episode here and there when it was actually on tv and thought it was a pretty good show (not to mention Megyn Price [img]tongue.gif[/img] ) and then I saw that it was being shown in the afternoons, 2 episodes an hour, and that did it. Did I mention Megyn Price?

Yeah, I heard that, too. I don't usually hear of adults with chickenpox, ordinarily it is shingles.
Another "show" I like to watch is Samurai Saturday on IFC. I particularly like the Blind Masseur movies.
Oddly, not much of a TV watcher anymore.
Watched a couple of later episodes of Farscape and might try out a DVD season to see if it's worth "collecting". As Prof mentioned, 24 can be very attractive, the season opener followed some of the football playoffs, so I stayed an watched. I think reality shows killed my interest as everyone jumped on that bandwagon to get something better out.
Then, too, there's work...once I got the connection at home to give me almost my work-desk-access, I'm finding myself checking on work just to I don't get clobbered with the next network outage a customer has. Which may change, as the company I was working for (yeah, was...they closed up Dec. 31st), Luminous Networks, is being partially acquired by Scientific Atlanta. Seems that SA has a number of customers with Luminous equipment that would be up a creek without continued support. But, wait...there's more! Cicso Networks, makers of the routers we all know an love, is buying out Scientific Atlanta, because the set-top market is booming (cable box...probably 80% of SA's business) and Cisco wants a part of that action. Video over IP, kind of like Voice over IP (Vonnage, Skype). So, by the end of February, I'll be working for my third employer this year...and still sitting at the same desk, answering the same phone. Which means, you understand, I may get back into watching TV again, as I'm hooking up new things to run on the internet.http://www.k-bikes.com/forums/images.../hypocrite.gif
