Where's my Jely?
**waves Canadian flag**
hooray! I'm so glad to be Canadian, just like Jadian!
Oy! It rhymes!
*does the Happy Canadian dance**
*steals Jadian's flag*
Oooo, now I really want to go to Canada.
Hope y'all enjoyed your day.
Now now...wrap Jadian and Jely BOTH in that flag...well, then we'd have something...
so is like canada day like the 4th of july for ...um...canada?
Yes. It is get drunk and have a day off work to watch fireworks Day.
We REALLY need Jely around, apparently. Although she may be hard at work getting trashed, if she's any kind of canadian at all!
Also, tomorrow we find out if my city got the 2010 Olympics. personally I am against them. As one person put it "The Olympics are like Gordon Campbell behind the wheel of an SUV: irrational, dangerous, out of control, something few people can afford that the rest of us have to pay for."
Campbell is the MP of my province; he was arrested in the states last year for drunk driving. he was double over the limit, when walking becomes a problem, and he didn't step down despite huge public outcry. He's busy cutting every single social program we have up here, and the teachers, parents, doctors, nurses, social workers, welfare recipients, families, first nations, and women all hate his ass. Boo!
Oh well. canada is still a great country. I invite you all up here to party!
Happy Canada Day to our northern friends. :)

The olympics: the white elephant of international sports. I wouldn't worry too much. I think Utah survived. Mostly.
Vancouver won.
....dammit.
I'm going to shot paintballs at the revelers and go volunteer at homeless shelter.
Don't they export the homeless during the Olympics to avoid upsetting the tourists?
Our OTHER national Anthem:
CANADA'S REALLY BIG
by the Arrogant Worms
When I look around me
I can't believe what I see
It seems as though this country
Has lost its will to live
The economy is lousy
We barely have an army
But we can still stand proudly
'Cause Canada's really big
We're the second largest country
On this planet Earth
And if Russia keeps on shrinking
Then soon we'll be first
(As long as we keep Quebec)
The USA has tanks
And Switzerland has banks
They can keep them, thanks
They just don't amount
'Cause when you get down to it
You'll find out what the truth is
It isn't what you do with it
It's the size that counts
Most people will tell you
That France is pretty large
But you can put 14 Frances
Into this land of ours
(But it'd take a lot of work
It'd take a whole lot of work)
We're larger than Malaysia
Almost as big as Asia
We're bigger than Australia
And it's a continent
So big we seldom bother
To go see one another
Although we often go to other
Countries for vacation
Our mountains are very pointy
Our prairies are not
The rest is kinda bumpy
But, man, do we have a lot
(we've got a lot of land
We've got a whole lot of land)
So stand up and be proud
And sing out very loud
We stand out from the crowd
'Cause Canada's really big!
That is AWESOME.
(Hey Orenda, am I going to see you out east when I move to Queen's?)

Hey, Jely, what do you think you're doing stealing my date?
I still owe you a visit, you know.

I want to meet Orenda!
How're you liking Mt A? Ever catch up to Ryan-of-the-long-hair-and-french-girlfriend Francis? He lives above Ducky's - or did, anyway.
Haha, dates for everybody!
*throws confetti and dates*

Jade, there's a twenty in it for you if you can get Jely over the wall...
wall? there's a wall? what wall? i don't see a wall.
It's the fourth wall. You can't see it cause it's invisible.
what the hell is the fourth wall? i didn't even know there was a first, second, or third wall.

scene design and stage lighting
Section: The Nineteenth Century
Related: Theatre
The 19th cent. brought extensive changes in lighting and scene design. Gaslight was first introduced (1817) in England. Although it was responsible for many theater fires, gaslight had, by 1849, the advantage of being centrally controlled. Sir Henry Irving , at the end of the century, was first to darken the auditorium completely. He also was first to experiment with the color and intensity of gaslight. The first spotlight was the limelight (1816); it was followed by the arc light (1846). With the invention (1879) of the incandescent bulb, light became the primary scene painter. Through the efforts of Adolphe Appia , modern stage lighting was born.
In 1840, Mme Vestris successfully employed the box set (three solid walls joined together) complete with a ceiling. The concept of the invisible ?fourth wall? forced the acting area to be located behind the proscenium arch, thus eliminating the need for a wide apron and glaring footlights. Decorative props were still painted on the flats, but as the naturalistic movement (in the theaters of Andr? Antoine , Otto Brahm , J. T. Grein, and Constantin Stanislavsky ) gained impetus, realistic and even actual objects were used. This trend toward realism and historical accuracy culminated in the photographic realism of David Belasco , who even incorporated smells into several productions. The invention (1839) of the photograph was a further influence toward realistic settings.
so what does this have to do with me again?
Right right. Why get pissed off at people when you can just be deliberately obtuse and get them pissed at you...
*ignores your obtuseness*

I was trying to ignore yours but it barked me in the shins...
my obtuseness does not bark, it yips! and it prefers toes, not legs. so i haven't the slightest idea what bit you in the leg.
Well, I guess that's what I get for depending on your sparkling wit to light the room up...
leave my wit alone!
Oh, but Jels, the poor thing is so alone in the world, it needs the companionship!
whose companionship???
Well, seeing as it's the only one of its kind, I'd think it would be happy with pretty much anybody with more personality than, say, Jax or a wet dishrag.
*bursts out laughing*
oh god ... comparing jax to a wet dishrag ... ROFL!!!
A cooked noodle?
a wet noodle, yes.
you know there's a little restaurant in ottawa called Wang's Noodle? *smirk*
Eat there a lot, do you?
