shoot, the only time i'll be able to ge tto chicago is for the national poetry slam competition. that's between aug 6 to aug 9th, with finals being on the navy pier.
Isn't the 9th a Friday? I think that's the first day of the Con...
just checked the calender jax, 9th is on a saturday...

That means the Con is 8-10...keep that in mind...
I could TRY to make it.....If I do I'll TRY to drag Jels along.....
If THAT happened I'd fight for my vacation time and get all three days off...that would be too much fun to pass up...
Thing of it is that I may not have much time in between volunteer duties at the national slam event but i'd like to try to get together for that. somebody will have to pick me up though and drop me off wherever i need to be that night. i'm not driving up there as i am going with a few friends of mine from dayton.
if all else fails, i absolutely must be at the navy pier on saturday night or somebody's buying me a bus ticket, ya hear?

it would appear that i am free that weekend ... however, there is the issue of money. i'm doing quite a bit of visiting here and there this summer - i just got back from ottawa, there's a swing workshop at the end of the month, there's another swing exchange on august 22-24, and then i'm going to new hampshire for a dance camp from teh 27th-1st sept. so we'll see.

They still do swing dancing up in Canada? I used to do that a lot from '98 to '99 I still got some swing CDs here. Damn, I miss the times but around here in Ohio, there's nowhere to go for that kind of thing anymore.

I'm probably "working" that weekend too, but I'll be getting out of it I assure you...especially if we actually get something going here...and besides work has denied my request off for the end of August so I'm going to get mine for the middle of the month, dammit! (That and I need to have a couple days off when the gf comes back...someone has to get her from the airport...heh)

Jax, the difference is you work 10 minutes away, and I work 5 hours away. So I would have to not work for a much longer time (or something like that. I'm still looking into it)
I got to go to the Book Expo america, and talk to Neil Gaiman. I'm happy.
Although, when visiting the "comic pavillion" there ( three booths constituted a pavillion to them- it was Diamond distributors, DC comics, and a local store from LA) we found out, to our dismay, that we had just missed Terry Moore that morning. No signnage, nothing anywhere to say he was there, other than the rep at Diamond. "Hey, he was here this mornign signing stuff!"

How big is the drink Jax? I want an idea of the size... like how big is the glass for $18?
Ummmm...I think it's a 32 oz martini glass...maybe bigger than that...they stand about a foot tall...they advertise them as drinks for two...
