Excuse me for jumping in here, but since you mentioned SXE bands, I just need to brag that I finally got my hands on the Uniform Choice CD "Screaming For Change" last night! DAMN!!! I forgot how much I LOVE this album!!!
I, personally, love most of the old SXE bands, though was never too fond of Youth Of Today, but they were KILLER live!

I grew up listening to that music, but I just recently got back into the sXe lifestyle. Jonni is really the first one who really got me interested in the glam stuff. that's why I don't know much about the glam bands. the kids in TN are some angry youth, we couldn't handle the glam music, we needed hardcore stuff! When I was a teen I was into the whole Straight Edge thing. But one of my friends back then, who liked every drug in the world, always used to say that the only reason people were straight edge was:
1. They didn't know where to buy the drugs
2. They couldn't get anybody to buy them alcohol or cigarettes
3. They were too ugly to get laid
I had a hard time arguing with him for the most part. My main reason was that I didn't like the possible future if I did drugs. I had a long line of alcoholism in my family, and my sister got pregnant at a fairly young age and it scared me.
But for the most part, I think he was dead on with the SXE crowd.
On a side note, I saw 7 Seconds in '91. After the show Steve Youth (bassist) came up to me to bum a smoke. I looked at him and said "but Steve, you're supposed to be straight edge!". He laughed at me and said "Yeah, but I grew up". Kind of funny. [img]graemlins/snail.gif[/img]

I listened to the music growing up, but I drank almost every day and by the time I was 21 I was a drug addict (still listening to the music though LOL). Y'all already know about my health problems, but a few months ago I was literally forced to make the decision of whether I wanted to lay down and die or get up and fight for my life. I chose life and those straight-edger peeps were the ONLY people that were there for me. My family even gave up on me. Gotta love Minor Threat. If you ever noticed my signature on the old board, the one that read "Mother fuckers, quick to kiss, talk your shit, but don't fuck with this" was Minor Threat. One of the greatest guitarists ever came from there, Brian Baker! Bill, you need some MT in your life if it isn't there!!! Try the "Out Of Step" album. Hell, you can get everything they ever did on one CD now. Killer stuff, but the "Out Of Step" album is still an unbeatable slab o' wax!

Lycan, are you kidding? I loved Junkyard!!! They were an amazing band live! Saw them on that first tour and met Axl at the show.
LOL, the whole drugs thing was never a factor for me. I had good parents, listened to chart music, and missed out on the 'controversial' upbringing. I knew nothing about drugs. The tough kids smoked. I was too busy playing soccer over the school field.
But Carl, Junkyard was a 80's HAIR band, not unlike Slaughter, Firehouse, and Steelheart. [img]wink.gif[/img] lol

Funny, I never remember seeing those shit bands in leather and denim and smoking and drinking as much as Junkyard. There was NOTHING pretty about Junkyard, unless big stinky Chris Gaines is what you are into! LOL!!! Junkyard was basically a hard rocking, hard drinking, Southern Blues Rock band. Not even CLOSE to being a Slaughter. Ya ever see Junkyard live? Check out the "Hollywood" video, and that was EXACTLY how those guys tore it up. No stinking hairband had the balls to be that in your face. [img]wink.gif[/img]
