that's his question. i never understood or cared about that stuff, in fact, it took me two years of hearing the term to finally realize that it was spelled endian...and not indian.

but while we are at it. are you referring to ordering in bits or bytes or both?

i was referring to the bit that holds the most significant number, wether it was the first or the last bit.

now i know about gates and the logic behind the gates, but actually how it works is well above my understanding....have fun with that.

Well, it's the university of Twente, (www.utwente.nl), Which is dutch (duh).

And i don't have to build it, i just have to be able to work out timing on datapaths and in datatransmission over lines, i have to know how memory works, how to build it, how to build your own cpu..etc.. But that's one of the specializations later : embedded systems, so that's why we get extra hardware related subjects.

preemptive scheduling (not pre-emptive) is associated with the operating system and what processes get the os resources. in a preemptive scheduling scheme the operating system has the ability and control to interrupt the currently running process and move it to the ready state. non-premptive just allows the process to continue running until it must wait for another resource (usually an I/O device) or until it is completed.

and finally, your question about the cmos and mosfet crap deals more with electronics than it does with actual computing. if i am wrong in this statement, please forgive me and i will do better to answer the question. in fact, i'm not sure, but the cheat might be able to answer that one better than myself, although we are computer guys, not eletric engineers.
