Skid Row - Thickskin - kinda review

Hey, I got a copy of Skid Row's soon to be released cd Thickskin. After first listen, eh, not worth the wait, might grow on me, might spend its life buried in the closet.
Think of Love After Death from Bang Tango, wanting to like it because of who it is, but for some reason just can't bring myself to do it.

They did a remix of 'I Remember You'?? They should all be piked for that alone.

How did those Mariners of yours do against the Sox last night? They are FINALLY playing like they are supposed to, so right now I don't think the Mariners really want to be facing them. I do hope that we get to meet up again in Post season. I think this time it could be a good series. But who knows, they just might fall apart.

American League=High paid, overly glorified softball teams.

by all means you can use the format, though i don't know why you would want to, but do with it what you please.

I agree with you that it is closer to the original way of Baseball, but considering the fact that there has been better baseball played in the American League for the entire history of the league, I will still take the AL over the NL any day. The only rule that seperates them is the DH, and if that is what gives the AL superior pitching, I'll take the DH.

Oh, and by the way, with as different as baseball is compared to just 15 years ago, to say it is how the game is supposed to be played is a bit of a moot point. The game is NOTHING like it was back in the early 1900's.

Great pitching will always beat great hitting, so why can't the NL win an All-Star game or a World Series?

NL won the world series in 2001 and lost to basically an NL team last year (and it was close). The yankees have always been more of an NL team, hence their consistent bitch slapping of the rest of the AL. The ultimate AL team, the Rangers, are pathetic.

How can you say that they are "NL teams" if they play by the AL rules?

And if the Yankees do it by NL methods, then does that mean that the NL practice is to buy up all of the best players in Baseball? And doesn't that go against who it was that one the WS last year?

Sorry Lycan, but you are sounding like one of those sad fans that has to make excuses for what the facts are, instead of just accepting that for the majority of the years that there has been an AL, it has been the dominating league. NY Yankees have always been THE Baseball team, and been the team that everybody has strived to play for, THAT is why they have always been the best. There is a legacy there that the players just want to keep entact, but they have had their shit teams also.

The Yanks sucked from the early eighties to '96. Their practice of snapping up top notch talent is a rather recent one. The years of O'neill, Brosius, and the like were those of having a great team with great chemistry. If a team relies on waiting around for the three run home run, then they play AL ball. If they are willing to play small ball for one run, then they play NL ball. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

The White Sox in the past few years were known for playing small ball. That's how they did 2000. Right now the bats are working for them, which is a relief, we don't have any speed on the bases.

Funny though that "small ball" is how you classify the NL. Seems to me that the guys responsible for the inflated HR tallies are all from the NL, being Sosa, Bonds, and Mac. I have believed for a loooong time that if those guys were AL those records would not be as they are now.

Just my opinion though, that the better players all reside in the AL. Even if the Sox were to get dragged over to the NL, I would still be an AL fan.

You have Bonds on your team, and you mention a sacrifice bunt!?! Hahahahahaha!!! I watch all of the teams, and there is VERY little difference between the NL and AL styles, in all honesty. Baseball is all about the long ball, and that is about it.

For the best pitchers you name in the NL, I can equal it with the NL. Most of the NL pitchers (exceptions being on the Cubs) who are great are on their way out.

Hey, I will admit that the Sox probably won't make it post-season, and that even if they do get there, they are dead in the first round. They are a team with some AMAZING potential, the problem is that the potential has been there for 5+ years and it is starting to get O-L-D!!! Manuel has no idea how to manage, and the team has no idea how to take over and do the job for themselves. If the Sox had a REAL manager, and actually spent the money to get a real manager, then this team would be more than the 11 games ahead that your Giants are, and nobody will deny that one. The Giants have the players, and they have a manager that knows how to bring those players together.

The other team here in Chicago is no better than the one I love, but to listen to the media here in this city, you would think that we had a team of your Giants caliber here. Though, they did spank you guys around quite a bit, didn't they? [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Oooo, can't take Footbal myself. I think it is the musclehead fan mentality that goes along with it more than anything. Years of hating jocks in high school screwed that sport forever. The baseball guys were never you typical "jocks".

But that being said, I do enjoy the Super Bowl ever year. Something about it that I like. I think it all changed when Green Bay got their a few years ago, the first time. That game was a great game, and I started watching the SB after that.

I will take Football over Basketball ANYDAY though!

Yeah, you fucking West Coast teams, we can't do shit with you!!! Every Sox fan knew we were up the creek on that trip. First game gave me hope. Second hurt. I could make the excuse that we benched most of our starters and rested them for the Royals series, which I do believe we did. But it still doesn't excuse the fact the they lost. If letting our regulars sit a game will cost up the games, then something is seriously wrong with the team, and we are dead in post season.
