Interesting comment from Vinnie on how his comments re: Jesus were cut from the MD vid and how he was not surprised. I was under the understanding that he hand-picked the footage on that DVD.

Sorry I had to break it into 2 parts to load it. It has VC, Will Kennedy, & Sean McCurley on drumsets along with Luis Conte, Alex Acuna, Sheila E., Marvin McQuitty, Louis Santiago and others as well.
Although the evangelism of the evening was a bit much for me at times, it was not unexpected nor insincere. I thought the spontaneity of this performance was pretty cool -- it had a rather trance-like African vibe. Having that many drummers on stage at once is usually a recipe for disaster, but the way they kept it in control spoke volumes about the level of musicianship.

Thanks for the clips. Vinnie's not ashamed of his Faith and I admire that about him more than anything. The Vinnie I had seen at a Toronto Clinic (alongside Alex Acuna) in the early 90's was sooo different than today's. He was full of himself back then, very cocky... Breath of fresh air to hear him speak these days. Someone's humbled him big time... [img]wink.gif[/img]

I got the 2 Primal & Revival tracks that were updated on March 14th but I think the others don't work (as yet!).
I got the testimony and am downloading his performance at the moment, but I can't seem to get the two Primal clips. Interesting stuff. There was an interview with Vinnie in Rhythm in the early-mid 90's where he proclaimed his faith, so I don't think it's as recent a transition as people seem to think.

It's too bad the sound was so boomy at the show ... but it was still a thrill to see and hear Vinnie.
I would be interested to hear if any of you guys know when Vinnie was "born again", and what might have prompted his interest in religion?
This is just my opinion, but I think he was killing himself with Drugs and Alcohol. Abe Labroial might have turned him on to Jesus.

Thanks for the insights into VC's finding God. I just wondered if there was some kind of life-changing event that he had mentioned in public before. Fuse -- you're right -- no need (or intent) to intrude into the guy's personal life.

I was lucky enough to attend this very event and it was quite an experience for me and the other musicians there, too. Vinnie has long been my biggest drumming influence and this was my first chance to see him play in person; not to mention the fact that he stuck around afterwards and I got to meet him in person! He was so very humble and outgoing and I can say the same for the rest for the performers there as well.
It was truly memorable and thanks to all of you who've made these recordings available!

Dear friends - soon there will be clips of the Drummers for Jesus event posted at www.drummersforjesus.com. And then soon those clips will be downloaded and sent to other sites all around the world. I only hope that when that happens that folks will hear what the drummers were REALLY doing there that night. I also pray that many of you will join us next year. Those that came from all over the United States and around the world agreed that it was WELL WORTH THE JOURNEY. All that I talked to personally said that next year they would bring 4 or 5 more people with them. The artists themselves said that it was the most incredible LIVE event they've ever been a part of .. now that's quite a statement from some of the greatest drummers and percussionists on the planet.
