What is everyones opinion of the Rush Limbaugh stuff going on?

For those that dont know, he stated on his show that McNabb (some football player) was "overrated because the media wanted to see a black quarterback succeed."

He claims that ESPN had wanted him to juice up his show a little bit and cause some controversy. After he did, ESPN supposedly turned their backs on him.

He has since resigned.

Many are calling this a racist comment. What do you think? Should he have gotten any shit over it?

i despise rush limbaugh... he's an overrated egoist...

and to be honest, i don't think its a racist statement.

its ridiculous for anyone to jump up and call
the racist banner when the word 'black' is involved.

if one were to tear through the comment, you
could clearly state just the opposite... that
it was the media being racist by having the
presupposition that a black quarterback WOULDN'T
succeed.

but i don't really care.

His statement wasn't racist but it was incorrect in my opinion.Perhaps saying that the media wanted a black quarterback 10,15 years ago would have been accurate.But not today.Theres poor black qbs everywhere just like bad white ones.Jeff Blake?Akili Smith?These guys get raked over the coals just like white guys.

As for him quiting,and I think he did quit espn,I'm dissapointed in Rush.ESPN hired this guy knowing he's not pc and might say something like this.It think he wimped out.

What Im much more interested in is these allegations he pops pain killers.From what Ive read,his former housekeeper says hes been addicted since 98 and has been in rehab twice since.It would be nice to know the truth on this.If its untrue then the former maid should be made liable for her statements.If its true,well,its just dissapointing,but I dont think it negates anything Rush has done or said.

<font size="4" face="Tempus Sans ITC, Tahoma">I think people over reacted to the comments. They were wrong, however. McNabb is simply a good QB, but his play style is definately characteristic of black athletes in team sports (flashy, unorthodox, etc).

A few years ago people all over the nation complained that eminem was successful only because he's white. No black journalist or public figure was attacked for saying so. Yet, Rush can't make the exact same sentiment about a black person? People's response to it is stupid. It feeds into the PC garbage that prohibits someone saying nigger, fag, or adolf was sweet. Someone says nigger, they are a racist. Someone says fag they're a homophobe, or a nazi for saying adolf's rise to power was admirable.

My opinion is that black QBs who are good do get great PR. It's rare for a black QB to be good. I think a hispanic, or arabic QB would be as much an oddity. But, this particular QB is good despite his color and even a white QB would get that kind of attention if his play was as good.

Yeah, I think the shit he got was a little too much. There's no crime, IMO, for being wrong. Rush is an ass, and always has been one. The only reason he got canned is because the NFL players association whined they wouldn't talk to espn any more unless something was done (IMO).

I don't like Rush at all, but he's one hell of a way to stay on top of what those damned liberals are up to!
