Illinois is where I am at - I just cant spell it yet!
Where did you move to in Illinois? I'm here, and my buddy Curt is in Chicago. I am about to start considering looking for a band, and Curt might be in the process of starting a new one. He shows up here from time to time as "Whitey Trash". I am looking for musicians, but it all falls under my rules. That is the first thing anybody working with me will have to understand right off the bat.
1) Why didn't Randy and the Finks work out? I thought they kicked the crap out of all other glam bands and were going to be huge. lol
2) When you look at Carl as a fellow band member, you should do a little background. Here, I have several books that will help you. The first is called 'My Life as Singer in YJM's Rising Force'. The second is 'The John Corabi Story'. The third is 'It's Not Easy Being Mark St. John'. I woulda' given you the Vinnie Vincent auto-biography, but then he turned out to be an asshole in his own right, hence all his comments might be a little hypocritical. Good luck.
But you see, that is why I am looking for people to play drums and bass. I am not looking for a vocalist. I might be after another guitarist, but if I do go for one, he will be somebody I already know, and somebody who wouldn't want to write for what I am doing. He is also possibly the best guitarist I have ever known. But for me mostly, I am looking for people to back me. The band will more than likely not have a name, unless it is Carl Isonhart And The... or whatever. Ego trip? Nah, just sick of the BS that comes with a "band". The brotherhood and all that? Yeah, fuck that. Too old for silly in-band fighting. I was mainly posting in here to point him in the direction of my buddy Curt, who is in Chicago.
Carl has a solid point!
Band democracies usually result in going round in circles.
That's why I rule my bitches with an iron fist!!
(Just kidding boys!)
As long as other opinions and ideas are listened to and considered, there's nothing wrong with a band having a BOSS.
'Fraid I can't help with anyone in Illinois, shouldn't take too long though. It's got a good rock n roll reputation right?
Illinois? A good reputation? No man. We have Cheap Trick, and it all ends there. Aside from them, you get Smashing Pumpkins, Styx, Survivor, Chicago, and Punk legends Naked Raygun.
Weeeeeee.
I see your point!
But any town has Al and Kelly Bundy living there totally rocks by me!!!
<font size="3" face="Arial">And I see your point!!! Kelly RULES!!!Quote:

Chicago is responsible for perhaps the greatest pop/rock band of all time Material Issue. plus you have ministry, KMFDM (post 1991), the electric hellfire club, and filter.
And Enuff Z'Nuff
Plus Urge Overkill,Liz Phair,Kill Hannah, and no one even mentioned The Orphan Punks.lol
Ashliegh
Yeah.... how could
Yeah... how could you forget the guyz that kicked rocks at rich girlz, had their Beatles recordz stolen, and pogo-A-Go-Go'd non stop????? ;P
Dude...
I wish you were closer to me in Canada,my band SPIN DIZZY just lost its drummer and we need someone fast!!!!!Been holding out on gigs cause I knew it was coming.Any Canadians out there looking for a band let me know we are located in Hamilton On Canada.

I tip my hat to Ash and apologize. The Orphans are reasily the best thing to come out of Chicago. I say that without any hesitation. The two greatest bands to ever fall out of Illinois, are easily The Orphans and Cheap Trick.
I love Urge, and I should have remembered them. Material Issue was pretty cool.
But the rest that have been mentioned? Ick. Liz Phair bites. Ministry, nah. Jorghensen is such a blazing asshole that it destroys any music that dick makes. I went and saw them back around the time of Twitch. He decided to keep the audience waiting, just to see how loyal his fans were. It was the middle of summer in Chicago, in the club Medusas. The old club. He made everbody wait outside for 2+ hours, then once we got in, we were forced to wait another 2 1/2 hours! Then he finally took the stage to a round of boo's. At one point, during I think the second song, he chose to stage dive. So off the stage he goes!
Right into the group of Skinheads on the edge of the stage.
Needless to say it took security to get Al back to the stage, and when they did, the Skins had beaten the fuck out of him!!! LOL!!! This was around '86, and if you were in the area during that time period, you know what the Skins were like. It was the time of the Skin riots and some CRAZY shit happening all over the place. Skins gang fights happening all over the city, shows being shutdown non-stop, even to the point that the Metro stopped doing Punk shows all together for a few years. Just showed what an idiot Al was. You just didn't mess with Chicago Skins in the mid-80's, and they were all over that place.
Sorry, off on a tangent I went.
Thanks C arl and Andii! (I swear I was'nt fishing for compliments.lol

Yeah right. Come on Ash, you can admit it. One of these days I post a link to all fo the phone calls you make to my house of those messages that just say "Hi, this is Ashliegh, I was the vocalist for the one and only Orphan Punks, don't bother to call me, cause you suck". They eventually start to hurt my feelings, but then I realize that you are just looking for help.
Hey, how goes that Hip Hop side project?
And I know you weren't fishing for compliments, but in all honesty, my missing the Punks, and living right in the area and even being in a band at the same time in the area, is a HUGE regret to me. I would have LOVED to have played with you guys. Though I am sure my bands fall into the GGBB area of life...
Man, that posts reads like I'm an idiot.
Maybe it isn't the post though...
lol I'll stop calling and start emailing then.lol
Hip Hop side project?Did I miss something?Yeah I've been listening to more hip-hop lately but I can't begin to imagine the scenario that would prompt me to try to record it...fucking around on pro tools etc. with loops and beats withstanding.

<font size="3" face="Arial">Ok the comment on Fink is like this - #1, I never said that. It was Randy and I still believe that with the right exposure that Fink could of been HUGE, but alas, FINK is dead. It doesnt exsist anymore! I on the other hand moved my WHOLE freekin life up here for a band that has called it quits and as I hang out here, I realize that this place hace LOTS and LOTS of bands. Florida has nothing on this place. I am gonna live here for at least a year and look for something but it has to be the right thing! If I cant find a band that is like a friendship within a year then I guess that I will go at that time but who knows! My cell still has my Florida area code. It will be changed in about 2 weeks but for now if any wants to talk band stuff - 863-398-4079. I am here for the reason of wanting to "Make it". I am looking for like minded people and I am not getting any younger damn it!Quote:
