Since we have our resident "expert" always talking doom and gloom, I want to ask the rest of you what (if anything) you've done because of the high gas/food prices.
(Greg, you don't need to answer. I know you're still out there in your cherry-red pickup with a bucket of wings, trolling for chicks.)
For us, really no big changes. What about the rest of you?
Instead of going for Sunday drives, I walk the neighborhood, chatting about the freaks on the corner a few blocks over.
Lots of smiles and good times.
We take the civic more often instead of the accord. We are more conscious about combining trips, but have always tried to do that anyway. Not really any changes in lifestyle.
I haven't cut off my driving one bit. However, late at night I do go around the neighborhood and siphon out of other people's tanks.

Not a huge difference in MPG but a much nicer car. I considered something newer, smaller but I'm getting too old to change now..

As to what I am doing to combat higher gas prices, well I consolidate trips as much as possible, take fewer "unnecessary" trips. I walk to the store sometimes instead of driving. But I drive roughly 45 miles a day back and forth to work, so there's not a whole lot I can do. Not staying home all weekend like a prisoner just because gas is so high. But some weekends I go to a closer beach other than one I prefer, and on Sundays I try to stick closer to home and not drive far.
Well, my work commute is about 1 mile.
I drive a yaris which gets around 30 mpg city and 35+ highway.
I take the highway a little more often to go places when I can to get the extra mileage.
Combining trips when possible. Make sure it's only one or two trips to the grocery store a week (even though the store I frequent most often is really close)
Saving 10 cents a gallon doesnt seem like much, but even for someone like me it ends up being about 1 free tank of gas a year. For people who drive more, or drive a lower mileage vehicle, the savings is much greater.
Dont leave the lights on when you leave the room. Run the AC at a higher temp and heat at a lower temp. Laundry in cold water if you can. (every little bit counts)
Energy is energy and every little bit counts.

I'm pretty sure the "drill for more oil and our problems will be solved" crap that we're being sold on the campaign trail is preeeety much that: Crap!
I imagine its one thing to drill for it but without the capability to refine the oil into products that we use, i.e. Gas.....we can drill until oil is coming out our ass and it won't matter one iota.
So build more refineries I guess is the answer and everyone wants that.....but not in my backyard.

My car is so heavy I let it coast a lot (when it's not bumper to bumper traffic) But put it up to 40-50mph and then it will coast a couple of miles before it drops back down to 30-35. That adds up.

Yep, it?s done it again. The Toyota Yaris is officially the gayest car, after it came top in a poll on the most researched vehicles on www.gaywheels.com
This is now the 5th straight quarter the Yaris has topped the chart. Proving when it comes to gay motoring, the Yaris is king, or should that be queen?

What amazes me is your willingness to use and encourage stereotypes. I thought StoneWall and the gay rights movement were intended to break down stereotypes? Or does that fall under the same category that Blacks feel it's ok to us the "N word" amongst themselves? Two faced arrogance is what it is. Toyota Brings Yaris to the U.S.

The Toyota Yaris was first launched in Europe in 1999 and went on to win both the 2000 European ?Car of the Year? and the ?Japan Car of the Year? awards. Now, the Yaris comes to the U.S. for the 2007 model year in Liftback and Sedan form to replace the Echo in Toyota?s subcompact segment. The Yaris we?re getting here is longer and wider than its European predecessor, and will form the basis for a wide variety of future vehicles.
Powering both the Yaris Liftback and Sedan is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that features Toyota?s variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i) for better breathing. The engine produces 106 hp and 103 lbs-ft of torque. Both the Liftback and Sedan will be mated to either a five-speed manual or available four-speed automatic transmission. Like the Echo it replaces, Yaris fuel efficiency will be among the highest in the subcompact class. A preliminary EPA fuel economy rating for both models is estimated at 34 mpg city and 40 mpg highway for the five-speed manual transmission. The automatic transmission maintains the city rating and drops the highway rating to 39 mpg. In addition to its exceptional fuel efficiency, Yaris will be EPA-certified as an Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle.

I could probably come up with a few more demographics of which I'm sure marketers are aware and would affect the kind of car this group would purchase.
So if one puts minimal thought into it, this kind of site wouldn't so strange at all. Unless, of course, you think a soccer mom with 4 kids and a family income of $100,000 is going to purchase the same type of vehicle as a 21 year old gay male just out of college.
Or maybe you would. But we've come to expect that kind of though process (or lack thereof) out of you.

Let's stop for a second and think about how there is no connection between the two. A site for the gay car consumer doesn't imply victimhood, nor does it ask for anything. It's merely a place for a particular demographic to get information, nothing more.

I will say this. A friend had me tag along to look for a car for his daughter. We ended up at the dealership where greg works (I did not know greg worked there.)
While walking the lot, my friend turned to me and asked, "Why does that guy keep staring at me?" He pointed to greg. It was at that time that I explained that who greg is.
