Here are some picts of the EBL ready to ship. I only have a couple of units unspoken for. Applications are currently for the SI, GSR, and ITR.

$480 shipped. It's cheaper than the JR MAP converter and Vpac combined but it's packed with more features: http://forums.clubsi.com/ubb/Forum12/HTML/006468.html
Email me for further details.

So what your saying is the JR MAP mod isnt necessary with this unit? Im still at 6psi/stock injectors.....will this do wonders for me...or do i have to spend hours "tuning" it?
Id like a PLUG AND PLAY effect like the JR MAP MOD does.

Yeah, the unit is plug and play except for the boost controlling aspect of the EBL. The unit is very user programmable but nothing to complicated. The EBL is meant for individuals wanting to run more boost but need other features to combat tip-in detonation and high rpm ECU fuel dump.

Couple of questions. Can you regulate the boost to whatever pulley you put on? For example, if you running a 8 or 9 psi pulley can the EBL read this and set itself? Also, can you run more then 12 psi or is that the limit of the system, not that I would? Lastly, have you tested the losses in power of running 6 psi with a lets say a 9 psi pulley compared to not having your system and running 6 psi?

It can regulate boost up to 1 bar or ~14psi. The EBL can be set at any boost pressures below the max psi and it will regulate the boost exactly. You can run as much boost as the pulley is rated for but anything past 12psi is really pushing it on a JRSC.

You answered the first part of my question, but I'm still wandering what types of loss I might see by running 6 psi on your system with a higher boosted pulley. One of the reasons for this question is I'm thinking about getting the EBL and stepper pulley, but running 6 pounds around town and higher boosts when needed and I want to know if I'm gonna see a noticable drop in performance from running 6 psi without the smaller pulley and EBL. Thanks again for making such a usefull product.

How does the EBL regulate boost?? Does it control the JR bypass valve?

I'm not too sure what your asking but the EBL was made to accommodate higher boost pullies not the stock 6psi pulley. Usually the SC is already equipped with 10-12lbs of boost, but the driver wants to lower boost driving around town for better motor longevity and fuel economy.

Sorry about the confusion in my question. Let me see if I can restate it. It might take more space to explain. The way the EBL works is by opening and closing the JR bypass valve just enough to allow the right amount of boost levels. Therefor, if you are running the charger at 9 psi it is obviously moving much faster and creating more heat. Now I know that if you were to be running the boost level at lets say the stock 6 psi with the EBL and a 9 pound pulley some of the air is entering the engine through the bypass valve (cooler air) and some through the charger (hotter air). Now the air that is going through the charger is hotter then if is was running at the stock 6 psi speed but it is being mixed in with cooler air that is coming in through the bypass valve. So my question is will the mix of hotter air and cooler air be aproximately the same tempature (performance) as if there was no 9 psi pulley and EBL, just a 6 psi pulley. A way of testing this would be to dyno a car running stock 6 psi then put on a 9 psi pulley and EBL and then dyno with the EBL set at 6 psi.

Oh okay, I get what your asking now. The answer is no, the heat rise at 9psi of boost would be less than boost at 12psi. Though the charger is moving faster the pressure is still equalized in the manifold by the bypass valve. Since the roots is a positive displacement compressor it displaces the same amount of air per revolution. The heat rise comes from cramming the air in the manifold unlike a turbo compressor. It's the same principle as barely driving at positive pressure at high rpms. Will the intake charge be as warm as in full boost conditions, of course not. The law of thermodynamics would state that the heat rise at 9psi would be less than 12psi.
In real world testing, I previously had the 4.0" (8psi) pulley for the B16 for over a year and stepping up to the 3.8" (10psi) pulley in the recent months hasn't increased detonation. Since I have the timing and fuel delivery tuned, I get no activity from the J&S V1. For an impartial opinion, I'll ask NuSier to reply to this thread. He's had the the EBL installed with the 3.8" pulley for ~5 months now since changing over from the 4.2" (OE) pulley.

its cool you can have the best of both world's jrsc and nos,you can run high boost, then if someone is giving you a tough challenge lower the boost and hit the bottle on them.

Ksig: I think i understand what you're asking. You want to know what is the difference in power between a stock JR 6lb pulley compared to a 9lb pulley running at 6lb's with the EBL. Sorry, I can't answer that question because i never did a before and after dyno. I was having lots of detonation issues with the initial s/c install, so i needed to address that problem first.
Zip's EBL unit really helped in that department. With all the features provided in his unit, i was able to cure ALL of my detonation problems AND up the boost. The TPS feature w/o a physical relay helped a lot because it cured the de-bouncing problem. (Thanks Rafe!)
I'm currently running 8lbs daily and 10lbs max with no problems at all.

Thanks for the answers. NuSiEr, you hit my question right on the nail. Hopefully someone with a already well tuned car will buy the EBL and dyno it at booth max boost and 6 psi. Tell then I'll wait tell I get enough money to get a EBL. Thanks again.

KSIG, : [quote] Now I know that if you were to be running the boost level at lets say the stock 6 psi with the EBL and a 9 pound pulley some of the air is entering the engine through the bypass valve (cooler air) and some through the charger (hotter air). surely when the bypass opens at boost, air will flow from the plenum back through the blower (high pressure to lower pressure), and the intake temps will gain a *bit* more heat as the rotors continually beat the crap out of this re-circulated air ? Going back to old Eaton math threads here, half the heat of the intake charge is from boyles law (compressing air makes it hotter), and the other half is caused by Eaton blowers being '0.5 efficient' (argue this your selves) which doubles the Boyles law figure for temperature rise with increasing boost.
I guess what I am trying to suggest is that by spinning the blower for 12 psi and boosting say 8 psi, does temperature rise equal the Boyles law figure for 8psi, and the mechanical efficiency figure for friction heated air at 12psi ???
Throwing a few numbers at it, it looks to give the same temps as boosting at 10 psi
Now I get to think about it : crank HP required to drive the blower - using the above figures again, boosting 8psi on a 12 psi pulley, would the crank hp required be the hp for 8psi (the work of compressing to 8psi) or the higher rate for 12psi (the work of spinning the rotors to say, 14000 rpm instead of 9500 rpm) ???
Before any one gets their panties in a bind, these are hypothetical figures, to illustrate a point, and help generate a discussion on the principals involved with 'pressure manipulation'. With a little bit of luck I havent killed this thread stone dead.... http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
