I just got done doing the JR Map Conv. install, and started her up, and she almost shut off on me because of a real low idle, the idle is sparatic between 900-1100 on my vafc, it can't be a vac leak because all i did is splice into the vac between the jr FMu/BTC and the manifold. should i try resetting the ecu? Please any advice appreciated, i live in charlotte low sea levels not in the mountains.

make sure you hooked up the wires correctly. methinks you've messed up your MAP sensor signal.

okay, i fixed my map code, by resetting my ecu, ok good, now,
I went for a test drive, and ouch not good, I drove cautiously until the car was properly warm, then bam, went to boost, and a/f gauge was straight on red. Correct me if i'm wrong, but the directions said to take off the fuel enrichment relay.. WTF,, did i do something wrong here? I didn't think it was going to be this much of a problem. i need a fuel pressure gauge and not that stupid B&m one.

any ideas why my fuel isn't getting enriched? I mean if it was green i would be worried, but that thing goes all the way to the last red when i try to go into boost... Its definetly scary, and will not be driven for awhile, until i figure out what the problem is.

okay. this is kind of ghetto, but i was in a hurry, beside i just woke up.. Hope this helps.

Two things to check:
First, are the green and green/red wires from the MAP mod box connected in the PROPER order ???
Second, did you splice in the MAP mod wires between the MAP sensor and the V-AFC or between the V-AFC and the ECU ??? YOU MUST SPLICE THE MAP WIRES BETWEEN THE SENSOR AND THE V-AFC... it must modify the original sensor output.
Another thing that you might check is your repair of the original IAT wires. Remember that you have to reconnect this out at the temp sensor and then splice in the MAP mod down near the ECU.
Good luck.

well, i'm not sure what the problem is, except the fuel enrichment relay works, so my assumption is that the FE relay is tricking the engine to put fuel in, but my JR FMu isn't working at all. That could be the problem, because in vac, the car drives fine, but as soon as i go to boost, it goes straight to lean, i aslo check that there is a good vac souce for the map, and nothing is obstructing boost/vac. I don't have another fmu to try, so i guess i'll just have to start buying more shit..... which really sucks because i'm trying to sell all this JR stuff, but i don't want to until, everything is running right, this is obviously one of two things.
1. JR FMU isn't working at all when boost is present.
2. JR Map converter isn't working, and without a scan tool its hard to tell exactly
-
one of a few things could be wrong.
1) Vacuum leak
2) bad ground (solder all connections)
3) the SAFC could be causing problems
-
okay,, this is what i know
1. checked for vac leaks
2. ground is behind ecu bolt is per instructions
3. vafc could be causing it, but i doubt it.
What would cause the car to run fine, but when i go to boost i get nothing, but straight lean, i didn't push it to see if i would do anything, because power went straight down, and the last red led on my a/f was on at full throttle, so i let off and drove her home, now she sits in the garage until, i can figure out whats up.. I check and double checked all vac hoses/connections.. everything is fine except the fact there is no fuel when boosting.

I implemented the MAP Mod with my J&S Ultra V2 today, yanked the TPS mod and the IAT relay. Then i lowered my static fuel pressure from 60psi to 52psi. The car runs smooth and fast..no tip in problems (hooray). and i also reduced my boost timing retard a bit, but its real humid here today, dont know if thats reducing the likelyhood of detonation or not.
My A/F gauge is quite lean when i enter boost too...it takes a second to go rich. it is scary looking. I dont know whats up with that, however, I cannot get it to detonate and its pulling fine, no audible pinging, J&S is quiet. *shrug*
I wanna do a wideband o2 dyno run now and see how the fuel is looking...maybe screw a run up by letting off the gas to go out and back in to boost... would they let ya do that?

your atleast goes back to rich. mine goes to lean and stays there

Mike,
OK... now I see your problem.
You cannot loop the V-AFC in BETWEEN the MAP mod wires...
So, here is the proper order:
ECU plug > VAFC (yellow) > VAFC (white) > MAP mod (green/red) > MAP mod (green) > MAP sensor.
Also, the MAP mod is Polar... you cannot hook it up in the order in which you have it. Your Green and Green/Red wires are backwards in your diagram.
Try this repair and let us know how it works.

okay, i did draw that graph wrong, due to trying to be on my computer guessing which one i used without anything in front of me, but Jim You da man, because i fixed the vafc, map wiring,
I put the vafc wires first and the map second. and it finally works, I also put my vafc fuel settings back to zero so i need to know get on the dyno. but now my question is, is that map going to work correctly since the directions said to put the map converter wires 1" from the ecu..
Should i put the map wires before the vafc wires?
As far as the test drive goes, it looked pretty good, but i think i'm running alittle rich especially after putting my setting on my vafc to zero. My static fuel pressure is 55psi, I think my timing is at 18degrees which i will change later this week back to 16, i have the btc on around 5clicks, just because i like having some sort of a piece of mind when i'm just driving....
-
The MAP mod must get an un-molested map signal from the MAP sensor... so you MUST install the MAP mod closer to the actual sensor than the VAFC...
I do not believe that the 1" rule is critical... just try to keep it as close as possible.
Lastly, try pulling your baseline (static) fuel pressure down to about 50-52 psi (vaccuum off). I know that Oscar has tuned some ITR's down as low as 49 psi static when using the MAP mod.

okay, now i have a static fuel pressure of 50psi, but i think i'm getting i'm running rich in the midrange, the top end is awesome.
Does the Map Mod have anything to do with 0-boost fuel maps, I've kept my fuel settings the same at the upper RPMS, so i don't run to rich since i have an ITR and it really dumps some fuel in that beast.
I also need to pull back my timing to stock, i think i'm at 18degrees, and i was getting a little bit of knock with the ac on, when i was boosting.
with the ac off, None whats so ever except that annoying pop i get sometimes when i let off the gas,, I think that is the header/cat seperating from engine torque.
