Rene Berg

Recently I have heard that Rene Berg had died in August. Does anyone know how? Has anybody got his solo work? What's it like?

I've got it. Mellow, yet glammy. Kinda' like Bowie and T Rex meets Hanoi (but I might be off on this assessment) Pretty good stuff, imo.

<font size="3" face="Arial">I've said it before and I will say it again, the only person to release truely quality stuff after the demise of Hanoi was Rene. Even though he wasn't a 100% (or even 5% according to Mike) member of Hanoi, he is the only one who that band should have been proud to have their name on the post-Hanoi albums.

Lee Ratbag of this here site is married to a lady who knew Rene, and according to him, people aren't saying what took Rene's life. There is the obvious speculation that it was an O.D., but nobody will say for sure, and Lee's wife doesn't think it was an O.D.

Whatever killed Rene, it breaks me up to think somebody as good as him never truely reached their potential, and it sucks that he never got more stuff recorded.

I have just done a search on Rene Berg here, and it appears that there was a topic about him only two weeks ago. My apologize!

Don't apologize!!! We are all here for the same reasons and some of us never get tired of talking about Rene and folk like him. I am thrilled that finally people are showing up here to talk about Rene.

I understand that I may have sounded like I was complaining about "saying it again", but that is not what I meant. I have always stated that Rene was the best thing after Hanoi, and I will always say that until somebody else turns out something 1% as honest as his "Leather" CD.

No, always ask about what you wish to ask about. Even if a topic has been done before, you might get input from somebody who hasn't had an input before. We at this site don't mind the "same questions over and over" again. Unlike many site, we love to talk about the same bands time and time again!!! So ask away!!!

Lycan, yes, I like Suicide Twins, I just think that Rene had the best release of all the members. Second best is easily Nasty, which is why those two were buds, I would guess.

No, my store had it, but they removed it. I have heard that it is great, but Andy's voice holds it back. I like his voice though, so I would probably like it.

it should have been the next hanoi cd it's that good and andy doesn't sing all the songs. strung out is an awesome song.

The best post Hanoi Rocks work is Demolition 23. Undoubtedly. It may not be completely in the vain of Hanoi Rocks, but it is a blasting record.
More, Michael Monroe's "Peace of mind" and "Not fakin' it" also hit the right spot.

Michael's got several cds that are worth the listen (although can't stand Not Faking It, personally).

I would just like to go on record and say that I don't hate anything (aside from "Not Fakin' It") from these guys, Rene just hits all the right notes to me.

My least favorite of the post-Hanoi is easily Monroe. His voice seemed to change, and he turned into a Johnny Rotten wanna-be, IMO.

I love Demolition 23, for about the first 4-5 songs, then it turns into a Ramones album in that it all sounds the same.

His solo albums are pretty boring, IMO.

But with all that being said, I will always be afan of any of these guys and will go see any of them if they come through town. Hell, I still wear my Michael Monroe "Not Fakin' It" t-shirt, and I hate that friggin' album.

In case you wanna get rid of that shirt, I don't mind second hand stuff... [img]smile.gif[/img]
