Thomas's car got stolen in LA

Here is another picture of the rims from his car....from when I went to see Spiderman 3 And saw his car in the parking lot. I instantly knew it was his car. Those rims are unmistakeable.

You said the insurance called it a "total loss"?
So what happens from here? How much to buy it back to keep it from the wrecking yards? Keep us posted....I'd hate to see it stripped any further than what they did to it.

On a side note....
that outside handle I got from you Geo was the wrong side. I got the door panel off and the handle out and Ann looked at it and said "uh-oh" LOL. But it did let me see exactly what was broken on it. The plastic is cracked in 2 places that the spring goes around. So when you pull the handle it pulls away from the pin that goes in there and the spring falls out.

To tell you the truth, ill probably fine something else if they decide to total the car. I do not have a garage here nor do i have the time to fix it all up myself. The damages seem pretty easy to fix but it will take time and that is something i dont really have nor a space to work on the car. So i think its probably best to let it go. Now if the insurance company decides to fix it for me, then thats a whole nother story, but right now they sound like they are intent on claiming it as a total loss...

Ok, this has been since last week that it happened and I've been in contact with Thomas on it, so I'm posting some pictures of the car along with some of what Thomas posted on the TSof Cal. site.

"Well it doest look good, i guess at least they were able to tow it and the car wasnt left on jack stands. Basically the reason the cops thought that they only took the two rear wheels is because they actually put on some crappy 15" aftermarket rims on the car and in the back they used my donut and another donut from another car. So be on the lookout for these, pretty rare wheels.

They took both my RSX seats as well and replaced the drivers side with an integra seat of some sort so they could drive it away i guess. All the stereo stuff is gone (stealth box, head unit, amp, even the wiring), and they took everything that was of any value in the car. Even my large rear view mirror.

In the engine, the took the battery and also the distributer as mentioned before and cut some of the power cables. Engine looks fine and my brand new AC is still in there so thats good."

I am so sadden by this to happening to Thomas or anyone for that matter. Been there, done that!

Ouch...welcome to L.A. Enjoy your stay 'cuz we're taking your wheels. Is the car at the insurance/tow lot or do you have it? I'd strip the car to the frame and just leave the VIN if you still had the carcass and sell the pieces. All they want is the VIN.

I could use the drivers door, front bumper pieces including the reinforcement bar and styrofoam piece, airbox, aux lights... [img]tongue.gif[/img]

I got a call from Thomas this last week but didn't post up about it, (thought maybe Thomas would, but didn't). Anyway he found a '97 Sol, an S model, Vogue Silver (pretty rare color as it only was available for two years ('96-'97). Haven't heard back from him yet as to what he found out from the guy selling it. So I don't know yet if he's still a soler or not. His old car was totalled.
Will post back when I find out anything new on this.

Glad ta see that you're still tryin to stick with the club thomas. I was worried that you'd stray off to another tyoe of vehicle after the sol. Any chances you may get a little more serious with this sol????

It would be a good idea to at least inquire about the buy back price. At least you know what condition your car was before it got stolen so you know what parts are good.

Well originally it was my plan to go with something different, wanted somethign bigger that can fit more than two people and would give me an easier time hauling boxes to and from the post office. I had wanted to go lease a Fit, but i like the new version they released in Japan so i wanted to wait for that. Saw too many trashed, civics and integras, and everything else i looked at was too high mileage.

Anyways i probably wont be doing much with this one until i get secure parking or move to a better neighborhood. And i would swap over the entire engine, but the old Si motor had some wierd issues with the block and transmission so i figure swapping the head would be pretty safe. Also want all my interior panels cause those were practically brand new, along with the rear disc brakes, and my brand new ac system. Too bad i cant transfer the dynamat over to the new car [img]frown.gif[/img]

OMG!!!! thats right!!! i forgot you spent a shit ton on those interior pieces!!! are you ganna get reimbursed for them??? otherwise i'd be quick to pop those bad boys off and transfer them.

Nope, they arent covering any of the aftermarket stuff unless i previously told them about it...all im getting in cash is 3k...so i think it would be worth it to buy the car back just for the interior pieces.

I've learned that the car is going to be 'totaled' nowadays since the repair cost is usually more than the book value so I try to get the vehicle towed back to my house first and strip everything off before the insurance company claims it. All the yard wants is the frame with the VIN.
