I liked it. Except using bullet-time will get crap from everyone. I like the muzzle flash. How did you do it. Too short. Almost like a teaser for a teaser. Got anymore?
cheers for that

is another real trailer for the dvd but encoding is poor
The first thng that annoys me is that the gun is pointing down but the bullet travels parallel to the frame. My mind immediatly relises this is CGI. Also I can't download the entire clip although its onlt 650kb, got the first 6 secs, tried with Download manager and same problen
Love the colour, wish I could be more constructive but until I see the entire clip I can't.
To your credit, I do want to see entire clip.
Ive already seen that one. Caught it when you first posted it. Any tips for the muzzle flashes?
jpegs of explosions is all i can say
but its nice to see appreciation for our muzzle flare!
Damn. I am currently trying to find a way to make them custom, as I am trying to do something along the lines of the cross-shaped flashes in Equilibrium.
yeah, the gun pointing down was a pickle indeed. I fired the blank and then angled the gun downward without thinking. When we came to put the bullet in we just kept it in a straight line from the direction of the barrel at the time of the shot. Not sure how clear it is but frame by frame should show you what I mean.
Suprisingly enough, the actual bullet image is not CG, the trail effect is but not the actual bullet.
Thanks for the feedback!
yeah tatorhead, that would be cool, but we haven't overcome that ourselves yet, I have an idea but it could take weeks. We're gonna do a really over the top big brother application for a friend involving gun kata, but the muzzle flare at the end is meant to be the big brother eye for that one! We'll let you know!
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I didn't see any bullet-time effect. I saw a gun being fired and the bullet travelling in slow-motion- but that's not bullet-time.Quote:

Not really sure how to comment Windowslaws- or are are you just trying to flog us your DVD's??? Got any films without any guns in?
After fooling around a bit I got:

Tell me what you think.
i'm not going to be really trying to flog the dvds until they are released!
but seriously, i'll encode another 60 second film. no guns, no violence, no hasselhoff just joy!
and that looks tasty, is it ok if i download it?

Or maybe the bullet just feeling sluggish so it went slow?
bullet time is the effect that utilises shit loads of still cameras
when the camera flies round trinity in the opening and time stands still. that's bullet time. what we did was just slow time down enough to see the real bullet we fired
that fine if you use it, it was actually very easy. Do you have paint shop pro?
thank you very much! don't have that program no, we have to rely on final cut pro 3 for all our effects!
might have to film a gun fight now just to use it!
if it works i'll post the results up here
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Err, no that's watching a bullet in slow motion.Quote:

'Bullet-time' involves a camera systematically 'moving' around or with a subject whilst the a slow-motion effect is taking place. Using mostly stills cameras shooting on a time lapse in the proposed sequence, the stills are fed into a computer which can 'fill-in' the gaps.

FYI In equilibrium, when a gun was fired the trigger set off a strobe light to light up the room. i just noticed something while watching it. There are almost no squib explosions at all, but somehow is cooler than every other movie with guns.
well, i've enjoyed all the stuff i have seen so far...including "wager". i think because i'm not a film maker i can still watch as a "punter" and not a critic. saying that my only comment is that your influences are pretty obvious. in my experience as a musician, the best way to succeed is to offer something new.
who does your music by the way?...if it is off the shelf then i guess you must edit to the score.
i reckon with all the money you make from your DVD you might be able to afford a composer....did i say i just live down the road?
I think that it is a teaser insomuch as it does generate interest amongst a certain demigraphic (which does not include me).
However, I think you should go the extra mile and re-shoot the gun so that it is level, or rotate the frame and cheat it level.
I have no idea how bullets actually travel, but it was disconcerting that your bullet's nose is dipped down, yet it travels parallel across the frame ...
B-
its probably something i wouldnt of noticed unless it was mentioned but since it has been mentioned... the fact the bullet travels at competely the wrong angle out of the gun looks very stupid.
seriously check out frame by frame. the bullet exits at exactly the right angle.
Sorry, but, it may (and that's 'may') exit at the right angle but the gun is pointing down to the right but the bullet travels exactly horizontal to the frame - defying the laws of physics.
AND while the bullet is travelling exactly horizontal to the frame it's nose is pointing downwards - this also defies the laws of physics.
That's how it looks to me anyway...

I actually havent watched the short, or exercise, or skit, or whatever its called. The computer I'm on cant do video right now. But I can't say I'm dying to see it. Stylized violence for the sake of stylized violence does nothing for me. Maybe when I was a teenager....but not these days. Added to the majority of the negative reaction its geting from this forum.
However, it does seem to be gettng much attention and scrutiny. So, I dont know, I guess you've got an audience.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Post any of your work at this place and it will surely be ripped apart. But it's good practice. I'd rather get some feedback with a little passion than no feedback and a vacant shrug.Quote:

I don't have a version prepared for the web (though I could do it)
I do have a 150MB MPEG1 file of it I could stick up somewhere if you have the patience to download it.
Or, since I notice you are UK based, if you email me an address I can mail you a copy of the DVD.
Nice one. I've got broadband if you don't mind putting it up on a server or something. Shouldn't take me too long to download.
I quite liked that 60 second version of your film you put up, Miker. Is there anywhere we can see the full version, other than the eXposure Shorts dvd?
