ON a drag 3 kit The external wastegate has 2 vacuume lines on it. one coming from the top and one from the side. What is the purpose of each. I've seen some people take the one on the top off. Any reason why? Is it there for a reason?

You can use the top port if you have a electronic boost controller but you dont really need to use it. I have an EBC and I only use the top port.

ArturboGSR98 - I'm currently in the process of getting the parts to go Turbo. I'm considering the Rev-Hard kit. Are there any additional parts or upgrades on your kit that in retrospec you think you should have purchased?

Well if you didnt already know, the Rev-hard does NOT come with a Pre-turbo air filter. So in other words if there is no filter then it is possible to get rocks inside your turbo and car. I had one made.

You can also see that I have the Tial Wastegate. The kit comes with a Turbonetics deltagate wastegate which I have seen many times boost spike which can lead to blown motors.
You also might want to consider the Arturbo Downpipe that you can see here. I would match that downpipe with 3" thermal. I had really good gains when I did this upgrade and finally dynoed at 277whp and 200ft/lbs torque. http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=58034

How much did you pay for the Rev hard kit? Can you tell me what it comes with and if you could do it over would you stick with the Rev hard kit?

You know that's a good point. The three I considered were the DRAG 3, Rev Hard & F-Max Kits. My only other option was to go custom. My buddy had a really bad experience with a shop here locally, even with that shop's version of a "built engine" I can beat him (50 shot of gas on my part).
The advantage of the F-Max seemed to be the engine management, which doesn't really apply to me as I'm going the Hondata route.
It would be nice if someone could list specific differences between the Rev Hard & Drag Kits - ie intercooler sizing, piping diameter, turbo specs etc. If someone has seen both - is the quality about equal?

The Drag is a good turbo kit for the price and there is a group buy going on at this time. http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=62916
You can not go wrong with Drag, and especially if you buy it from importparts because if it ever cracks then Ben@importparts will replace it for free.
I chose Rev-hard because I bought it off a friend that needed money and I got a good deal on it. I like the design of the manifold better. But if I had done it over again I probably would have gone with drag because of the price and all the free stuff you get.

ArturboGSR98 - I appreciate the pics & info. From your list it appears that the kits have similar components. As you mentioned, the DRAG does look like it has more extras.
I have some other questions about the DRAG kit:
1. "Larger efficient front mount intercooler" - Do you know the specific dimensions?
2. "Chrome one piece intercooler and turbo piping" - Is this also 2.25" like the Rev Hard kit?
3. You mentioned the pre turbo filter wasn't included on the Rev Hard kit - Does the Rev Hard kit include a wastegate dump tube?
I appreciate your help.

I have some other questions about the DRAG kit:
1. "Larger efficient front mount intercooler" - Do you know the specific dimensions?I dont know the exact demensions of the Drag, but Drag is longer while Rev-hard is thicker.
2. "Chrome one piece intercooler and turbo piping" - Is this also 2.25" like the Rev Hard kit?I cant remember, but Im 95% sure it is
3. You mentioned the pre turbo filter wasn't included on the Rev Hard kit - Does the Rev Hard kit include a wastegate dump tube?No dump Tube for Rev-hard

ArturboGSR98 - Thanks 4 info.
Last thing - on the hondatech board ITR-481 stated "The rev hard manifold is a way better design the the drag because of the location of the WG..... the WG is located so far up on the #4 runner on the drag manifold your car can still get boost when the WG is all the way open."
Can anyone else verify this?

Well when you have a boost gauge it still reads what ever boost setting you have. I would say that is a myth. But I would say the only advantage Rev-hard manifold has Drag is that Im sure it flows better.

What about the issue of notching/filing down the block to make the DRAG manifold fit correctly? Any truth to that?
2 other questions:
1.Do you think I need to upgrade a larger radiator (eg Fluidyne) to cope with the heat generated from the turbo system?
2. Anyone have the FAL fans on their car & what do they think of them?
