I've just recently got myself a DVD player and I was surprised that there are so much good stuff out there. Drumming wise and music wise. Can you recommend some good ones with good drummers? What are you're personal favourites?
I have only a couple but anyway. I liked the Chaka Khan live (Vinnie) and Steely Dan's Two against nature live (Ricky Lawson). I have heard that the Metheny DVD (Antonio Sanchez) is good and I'm gonna get that one next.
There's a DVD of the Metheney/DeJohnette/Holland/Hancock tour from back in the early 90's that is excellent. I think you can find it on Amazon. The Steve Lukather DVD with SImon on it is pretty good, it's also at Amazon. The Yes Symphonic DVD is good too, if you are a fan of Alan White.
If you like Pat, the one with Antonio is fantastic.

herbie hancock's future to future dvd is cool (terri lyne carrington on drums and she's a great player)
steve vai dvd w/ virgil on drums if u can stand the music and mr. vai!
new chick corea dvd called "a very special concert" with lenny white on drums.
The David Gilmour in Concert (2002) DVD is also a great one, with great remakes in a more acoustic setting and a new song as well.

I enjoyed the Eric Clapton with Friends with Steve Gadd and Nathan East. What a team that is. They're backing up Sanborn, Mary J. Blige, Cheryl Crow and Dylan. Killer feels by the Gaddman and complete communication with Nathan East.

Simple pop grooves with artists from the late 70's and 80's recorded in 2000. With a good sound system it sounds nice.

Some nice Rick Marotta and Bernard Purdie interviews/playing. I was surprised they never really mentioned Gadd. Wayne Shorter has a nice short interview.

Perfect image-sound... and a lot of good songs.
Simon Phillips is a real gentlemen on the drums... ( he has mixed the sound for this dvd)

For drum videos you gotta get the Marco Minneman DVD. The video and sound are great and the playing is....oh well, you got to see it to believe it!
For good all around music with great drumming check out the Peter Frampton live in Detroit DVD. Chad Cromwell is an outstanding drummer who lives in the Nashville area alongside Peter Frampton. The drum sound on it is crystal clear!
