Question for 80's fans (ash, Raggz,...)

I'm gonna do the BMG thing again to fill out my collection/replace tapes/get the greatest hits to replace all the regular albums/etc. It's all gonna be 80's, and I have 9 chosen, so I need 3 more (you know 12 for the price of 1)...and it's between these. Obviously I know a few from each, but if anyone has any of these, and can highly recommend them, I'll probably go with it. Any insight would be helpful.

spandeau ballet-gold-the best of SB
naked eyes-the best of naked eyes
buggles-the age of plastic (not a greatest hits, but i've only heard "Video killed...")
general public-all the rage (again, not a gr. hits, at least i don't think so, but all I've heard is "tenderness" (which I love!))

big country-best of big country

Soft Cell-the very best of soft cell - soft cell is fkn awesome. can't help you with the reat because i don't like them but soft cell is ace.

Out of that list the three I would pick are Spandau,General Public, and Soft Cell.The Big Country album was a let down as nothing else I've heard by them even came close to "In a Big Country".

btw, seriously speaking, Big Country's s/t wasn't bad. Also, if you are aiming for 80's discs, get Crowded House s/t. It's a great disc that won't disappoint.

All of them, but leave out the Level 42.

Ahhh, but if you go with John Waite, shouldn't you also go with Howard Jones? I always found them to go a bit hand in hand (even though Waite did rock a little harder).

How the hell do you find Ho Jo and Waite in the same style at all??? Waite was commercial pop type of thingy, and Ho Jo was borderline New Wave. Ho Jo and Joe Jackson are actually a little bit closer, not much, but a little.

Thanks for all the help. I'll probably take Ash's advice and get Soft Cell, Spandeau Ballet, and General Public. Both Howard Jones and Talk Talk are on the list of cd's that I'm getting. I already have Bad English and John Waite. Never really liked Crowded House.....and I heard Big Country switched styles quite a bit, after "In a Big Country", but I didn't know if anyone had heard all their stuff....so thanks again everyone.
BTW, I don't think Howard Jones and John Waite are that similar either. I like both though.

Level 42 weren't THAT bad. Good musicians, good songs. Was aimed at adults rather than kids, I'd say. World Machine and Running In The Family were ok.

Remember, I came out of the Punk scene in the 80's, and I hung out in all the main clubs in this area, and dated a girl who was a dance club freak! She loved Erasure. Then after her I dated another girl who also loved that fucking band. Man, those guys drove me up a wall. Terrible stuff. Believe it or not, I would probably take Roxx Gang over Erasure!!! Stacey thank you for asking. Actually Dezi is still in the hospital( one month today) Tomorrow he is having more surgery on his leg and after that he SHOULD be able to come home within a week. Not smoking anything,just trying to destress a bit. Let's just say that life has been wayyyy waaayyy to serious for waaayy too long. This is how I let off steam..come on here and act like a retard for a little bit.
