And the only problem is, if someone were to get banned, chances are they would just run over to the spawn.com board and tell all.
ANd if that happened, I think some of us would chip in to pay for the lockdown on the board so people can only come in if given access.

honestly, I've starting to get the feeling that some people are adopting an attitude of "well, I'm going to invite MY friends even if no one else wants them here, cuz they're MY buddies and that's what everyone else is doing." I think this could potentionally lead to trouble if it's true. sure, lock down would be a legitimate solution, but does anyone REALLY want to have to do that? Is anyone going to feel good about "voting people off?" I don't think I would [img]eek.gif[/img]
Pappy had the suggestion to make a sticky thread at the top for nominations. And if anyone has anyone they think should be on this board, they write it in there, and the rest of us can vote on it.
I don't know if you can really limit the number of people that show up, but if we at least invited people that everyone agreed on, maybe it wouldn't be so heated sometimes.

well, most people had been voting or at least mentioning it on the board before inviting people...but it seems like that's not happeneing as much now. I think it's a good suggestion, though - the sticky for voting. The only drawback is that I'm sure some people are going to get "hurt feelings" if their suggestion is shot down [img]graemlins/cry_smile.gif[/img]

I guess time will tell. Though I've still seen people ask "is this guy ok enough to be welcome?" before sending their introductory email. I dunno, i'm sort've impartial because every person I'm cool with (unless I've forgot someone) is already here.
As for EQ, the situation didn't look major enough for a feud to arise. At least to me. Left on impulse I'm sure, he'll probably be back and it'll all blow over.

I don't think there's any reason to be snobby about this. I do believe that those of us here hold ourselves to a somewhat higher standard of conduct than most internet forum participants, but none of us are in any way better than anyone else. I believe that we can have a place for just us, but not so exclusive. What I've seen in just a few weeks is remarkable. I have yet to read a post that I didn't comprehend because of some kind of generational language barrier. However, I've already witnessed troll-esque squabbling and immaturity. What I see is that a core circle of buds started something exclusive, and then each started saying,"let's invite so-and-so to our clubhouse," and then so-and-so comes to hang out and says the same thing. After a while the chain of so-and-so's grows, and that's not a bad thing at all. Generally, there's no reason any of us can't get along, but the chains may have weak links. Even though we may all be good friends, our other friends may not like each other one bit. Your worst case scenario goes like this: A flame war that erupts here results in swift bannings, then the banned return much in the same way it goes back at Spawn.com, the come back with the intentions of starting shit and then draw out the worst in all of us and we become trolls ourselves, things get really out of hand and the troublemakers spill and their troll-kin come pouring into our oasis, we pay for the security feature and get rid of them once and for all, and then things get really nasty. Once it's quiet again, the select few that remain will start pointing fingers at each other with blame for inviting the losers, and ultimately this utopia will collapse.
That's what many have longed believed would happen at Spawn.com, but it hasn't. It never was Nirvana, or a peaceful paradise. The same ugliness thrives everywhere, especially when those opposed to it turn their backs. I'm not really sure what I'm trying to say. Philosophically, I'm indifferent about the continued growth of this forum. I personally feel that since I didn't create this place, I don't have the right to include or exclude anyone. I do feel that the people that now post here are primarily responsible for my addiction to these forums. I admire your wit and charm, and it is my privelege to post among you. However, when the vibe gets to be more like the high school clicques who trod over the uncool on their way to self-appointed pedestals, I'll be here to point it out, even at the risk of being sent back among the trolls. And I know this is a dead horse to beat, but respect earns respect. I also know that I'm preaching to the choir again, so I'll shut up now.
I guess it just bums me out that people - good people - are already squabbling on this board and supposedly can't resolve it [img]frown.gif[/img]
I hear ya guys- and I agree that squabbles will happen regardless. The clique thing may also be broken down into keeping a general nuisance at bay too, not always so much someone who's personally disliked by someone else. But that goes without saying. And either way we still have to deal with whatever bumps arise.
And it's usually best to judge the behavior, not the person themselves, but it's human nature that that line gets blurred at times. Sometimes personal feuds bring out the worst in good people too. And those of us who may like each opposing side just back off and let them sort it out themselves. Whenever there's a problem, things usually go back to normal one way or another. It's just like any community of people. Me, I'm sorta optimistic here, I'm not too concerned.
time invested shouldnt really be a deciding factor. DX is an old schooler, and should NEVER be considered for an invite.

well, I don't want ot offend anyone. but I thought the point of this board was primarily toy talk w/ a little chatting on the side, just cuz we all know each other. I could be totally wrong, though - xcrowx might be a very different person on this board. to be honest, we've pretty much fallen out of touch -- I think someone who knows her better at this point could probably speak on her behalf better than I can.
you know what. people should lighten up a little. I think you should be able to take a little bit of ribbing and fun poked at you from time to time with out getting offended so easy.

I'm sure there will be some tiffs between people here, but hopefully a little respect and being able to settle it off the board will take care of it.
