I know by posting this some people will want me stoned to death but...
A bunch of us go to see PBFon a Saturday nite, pumped and hoping for a RNR show...
Leslie was sitting next to us whilst the support was playing, he proceeded, on numerous occasions, to slip off the bench and have SERIOUS trouble holding himself together to say the least, not a good appetiser for the show, but putting that aside...
So on come PBF Leslie, leaning on the wall so as to hold himself up and Steve Summers looking like the good year blimp!
The sound was beyond terrible, bass and drums we're distorted to oblivion like a monkey had set them up, and can someone PLEASE tell me what is it with Summers and these new found, SCREAMING like and lunatic, vocals, AWFUL! how can you scream like a deranged banshee through 'I wanna be with you', PBF we're always a band that we're 'Pretty Boys of Glam' this was just pretty UGLY and VERY poor, Leslie boasting to the crowd how much coke he'd done during the day (as if we couldn't tell!) and how his style was being cramped mmm? and finally having to have his mic turned off as he was talking total jibberish even over Steve's vocals (if that is how we describe them.)
A band that ISN'T and never will be PBF, that band should have been left alone years ago, like '89!, and an attitude that stinks, as for Leslie...what a waste of talent and the Distractions tracks PBF play he should be down right ashamed of.
I will seriously NEVER go to another PBF show again, not that it'll make much difference as they will still make $$$ off the poor quality merch, way less than average show and badly produced CDs.
Otherwise a great show.

Sounds like tonight's gonna be an interesting night then! At least they've only got an opening slot tonight for LA Guns. Not bad for a tenner! Gotta go get my bus soon. Tata.
-
We missed over half of the show due to being in a pub, oops,so only saw 7 songs. To me they rocked!! :-)
Then when I was leaving bumbed into Chad on parking lot, went to their hotel 4 drinks.Made very clear from the start wouldnt be sleeping with him,but we had an absolutely fab nite talking, being mad,til noon on Sunday, haha.Steve was trying to sleep so dont he impressed tho.so went 2 Leslies room, errmh, seen him naked now,so just made a quick exit, huuh.Anyways, havent had that much fun for ages, and Chad says its been so cool, like we have been the best friends.
-
That meant to say Steve was trying to sleep so he wasnt impressed, huh.
Anyway I sound like a stupid fan,so will shut up,heh :-)

After Sikkly's comments, Monday night was actually better than I'd expected it to be. Steve still had a little scream on 'I Wanna Be With You' but not much, only at the end. They seemed remarkably 'with it', not too much 'under the influence'. Their performance was pretty good, imo.
LA Guns' set was cut short a little, because there was a club night after the show, so they needed to get finished and offstage by 11. They did ok. Phil seemed pretty fed up having to sing Ballad Of Jane, so decided to cut it short (stopping right after the guitar solo) which seemed a little abrupt. That's my only gripe. They're trimmed down to a 4-piece now, with Stacy Blades on lead guitar, with Phil adding a bit of rhythm. Would've been better though if they'd added a couple more songs in and cut the drum solo (didn't realise bands still did them).
Not a bad night though. Worth going.

Stace pretty spot on with the comments it was nice to see ya again
I was a little unsure after their tour last year but PBF impressed me 100% it took a while for the growd to get warmed up the sound was good and Steve and Lesli didn't see as up their own arses as normal - The guy I was with actually spoke to Steve after the show to say he owned a couple of their albums and hated him but he thinks he is ok now lol!!!!!! Infact Steve wasn't bothered by it at all and later posed with me and Lesli for a few snaps.
LA Guns - after PBF's set they were going to have to go some and mmmm well saw them with Enuff z'nuff last year and before that at Rock City where they rocked big time so I was disappointed last year so this was their chance to prove me wrong about last years show, unfortunatly no, Phil is ageing quite and and gone are those nice theatrical clothes and the make up he seemed all round a little bored and yeah seen as the set was tight the drum solo seemed to go on forever and too many songs of the new cd released in summer meant I couldn't really get totally into it Also I might be wrong but I didn't see them signed after the show
-
They were out at the merch table for photos and signing. That club after the gig wasn't really to my taste. Too much nu-metal for the kids. Dish was outside as I left, and he chatted for a bit. Seemed like a nice guy.
-
I've gotta totally agree with Sikkly regarding the Notts. gig... trust me, if you'd have heard the band, you'd have walked out (which a couple of people did actually) ... I'm quite a big PBF fan, but I'd become REALLY bored by their Live shows... same tracks every show, nuthin new (even though they were callin The Distractions songs new on Saturday *bahhhh), but after that show, jeepers, there is no way in hell that I'd EVER pay to go see them again, ?11 down the drain in my eyes... I'd rather have gone to the local pub, or stayed in and watched TV. Marks outta 10, I'd give them a flat 0 (LOL)
-
Awww, you should've come to Sheffield on Monday!
I thought they sucked less than last year, lol.
-
Debauchery, Blow, and Heroin will do that to ya.
Word is Lesli is always f**ked up...hince the arm things he wears....perfect disguise for the track-marks.
-
now now raggz lets not be spreadin ugly rumors on the board. lol but email me and I'll give ya some!!!!!
I know how you guys feel. I went to cleveland to see them a lil over a year ago and it was the WORST show EVER. (again a nod to my I won't say something is good because they look glam) lol. I had seen them with Keri several times and LOVED it. But when I saw them with Dish, Chad and Leslie I was just shocked. There are garage bands playing PBF better than PBF. Which is the reason I didn't even bother going to see them when they played 15 minutes from me here in cincy.
-
Rumors...huh???...what...Where???? When???
-
Thank the stars for that, I take my english bowler hat off to you Billy.
-
Saw L.A Guns in Norway (Oslo) last weekend and it was just awsome!! They didn't have any warm up band though. Talked with Phil and the guys after the show and they were real cool. Signing, taking pictures and stuff.
Phil was also in a very good mood and you could tell he liked beeing on stage. I think it often depends on how the crowd is as well. And the crowd was real good that night..
-
I went to see them in Stourbridge last Tuesday and there were only 30 people there!!! However PBF appreciated the support, and I got to sing along on a couple of tracks.
The Highlight of the night was when they called my mate onstage to sing the last chorus of 48 Hours....and he sang the piss take version!!! "COCK....COCK!!!...48 INCHES 48 INCHES OF COCK!!!". The band seemed slightly bemused....
-
Yeah, Dish said Stourbridge was a crap attendance, but the rest of the shows were pretty good.
-
I don't really think it matters how good the attendance is in some aspects, of course it goes without saying that a good sized, enthusiastic crowd is what all bands want, but the way I see it is these '30' people have paid the ???, so the band should do their job with the same zest and fire as if they we're playing to 300 people. It's their reputation, and after all a good reputation is so hard to build yet so easy to lose.
It's both these small crowds and the bigger crowds that put PBF where they are and given them the opportunities they have had they shouldn't abuse that, they should be professional, after all it's what pays for their recreational activities.
-
ROTFL @ Banzai's friend I would of loved to of see their faces
-
Like Banzai said, they still appreciated those 30 people coming out on a Sunday night, like Tuff & Shameless did in Manchester, Oct 2002.
It's gotta be a bit demoralizing though, kinda bring them back down to earth with a thud.
-
I totally agree with you Sikkly Kidd! It shouldn't matter how may people it is in the crowd. Bands should always do their best to give the people (that showed up) value for their $.
(as an artist myself, I live by that rule).
The night I saw LA Guns it wasn't that many people either, but the crowd was real enthusiastic and I think that is often transcending over to the band. I know Phil Lewis can be a bit moody. But of course, bands should give it all no matter what. That?s 4 sure.
-
I do have to say Fair play to the band for still putting on a good show in Stourbridge.....However Leslie almost got himself pummeled cuz he wouldn't leave some girls alone.
-
Poor Leslie. Sounds like such a charming uy. Can't imagine why those ladies weren't throwing themselves at him(accckkkk)
-
btw uy=guy
this is me afterall. carry on/////////
-
Yeah, they like to wander around the crowd and hand-pick girls to take backstage. Disgraceful, lol. Who do they think they are? Poison?
-
heh
Leslie came onto two girls I know in Bradford who are only 15, and when they told him their age he couldnt care less!! The dirty sod. In fact hes been very close to being thumped on this tour, hes been a wreck walking around after the gig I dont think he knew what he was doing! In Sheffield he was coming on to all these trendy lasses coming in for the club night after, he was going up and saying 'Hi I'm Leslie from the band..' but no realising they hadnt come for his band or have a fkn clue who he is! He probably looked like some smelly old drunk to these girls.
As for the gig....... well I really enjoyed them at Rock City on the Saturday! I didnt think the sound was that bad, but it depends where you are I guess cause I was nearer the back shaking my hair and it sounded fine. They were far more coherent and with it than last time they player, altho towards the end Chad did fall over onstage!
Did anyone see Steve's hissy fit at that guy for talking during the set at Bradford??? Unbelievable! He stole his pint and tipped it over this guys head at one point! The other guys in the band looked quite awkward and embarassed apparently.
-
Hey Al, you was at Sheffield too? Damn, missed ya.
-
Yea man!
I probably thrust a Wildside flier in yer face between bands! haha
I had my Metal Sludge tshirt on, and I was with the lady all in pink with the feather boa!!
-
Ahh! I got down in the crowd during the bands, to get some pics, but went back near the bar in between.
-
I don't recall the girl in pink, and I didn't get a flyer either. Oh well, such is life. I did have a flyer from another gig though.
-
Well I was near the bar too the entire gig, if you could call it a bar! I was right in front of it leaning on that side barrier!
Ahwell, perhaps I'll remember that you'll probably be at a glam gig Im going to arrange to say hi!
-
Hey, I was right near there too! There was that guy that looked like the mini-Zodiac Mindwarp near too. I recall a girl with purple hair that held a beer bottle between her breasts during the PBF set, hahaha.
-
yeah stace, thats prob it,the girls were "brets" chicks and well you know how that go's.
lets see: ageing,drugged out,narcisistic,dickweeds wantin action...hmmmm YEAHHHH!!!! right away...NOT!
-
It seens PHIL is always nice... except when I meet him...first time u can think he has a bad day, but after a second change, I only can think he is an asshole.
-
-
Hello everyone!!!
I just have a few things to say about this posting.1st PBF rock hard and they play hard, its that simple,I toured with them, the promoter fucked everything up so we did whatever it took to get the shows going,Leslie is a very smart person,he got on the phone and made things happen, for the comment of Tracks up his arms,No!!!he has habbits but dont we all?and his dont require spiking his vain. They are great guys and they dont take their fans for granted, every night on tour they hung out and signed everything that was brought to them listened to every story told and even helped us out with hooking us up with rooms to crash in.I think that bands have good and bad nights, deal with it!!!Im sure your still telling your friends how you partied with Pretty Boy Floyd and it was a BLAST!!!!!!
-
Spin...
Hell I love PBF bigtime, but I do know lots of things that are FACT...Even have a show on vid...Where Lesli asks people in the crowd where he can get some Heroin....but eh...I'll always listen to PBF no matter what.
-
By the way, the only addiction I have is buying DAMN CDs!!!! Never drank, never smoked, never did anything....That's just me.
-
OMG!!!! Did Raggz just say he actually BUYS CDs???
I hope you had your fingers and toes crossed!
-
HaHa...Yes Stace....I do buy CD's but they have to be worth my wanting. If it's something I don't think I'd buy...I'd rather do a CDR copy trade or something.
-
Oh, In my Music COllection....
I do have 1500 plus CD's I bought....but that's not counting all the CDR Copy trades and demos I transfered to CD...so my guess is pretty close to 3000 items. I NEED MORE ROOM!!!!!!!!!!
