How do you feel about the new Today doll? On one hand I think she's adorable. But I have Marisol and like variety in my dolls. It also makes my Marisol less special. She really isn't LE anymore. I guess I would be happy about this if I had missed out on Marisol when she was available. Is anyone planning on getting this new doll?
I'm not planning to buy either of them. I was very disappointed when I saw them. However, I am glad that some of the little girls that I know who wanted her will be able to have her.
ETA: I have figured out how to add #28 into my collection. I am going to sew highlights into her wig!!

I totally agree. I like to get unique and different looking dolls. That is way more fun, imo.
My question is, now that this new AGT is out, are the sales on ebay of Marisol going to climb? Marisol going to depreciate in value now this new gal is out? She looks EXACTLY the same but with a haircut! I think shes cute and all, but for those of us that bought Mari, its like a slap in the face lol
Sigh.. well atleast my credit card wont get TOO maxed out this time
It doesn't really seem fair to everyone who bought a LE Marisol. On the other hand, I don't have a Marisol, and am thrilled with this new girl! She's too cute!
Geez, some people may not be able to tell them apart.
I think it definitely makes Marisol less special. That new doll looks EXACTLY like her, except with her curls cut off. They could have at least given the new doll a different skin tone or a darker/lighter hair color to make her more unique. Marisol is a gorgeous doll who sold very well and clearly they want to capitalize on that. But what's the point of marketing a doll as LE if a lookalike doll will be available right after? Mostly it just annoys me because I wanted to see something really different and unique - a doll with bright red hair and freckles, or a short-haired Asian doll, or a Middle-Eastern looking doll. Instead, they give us a doll that looks exactly like one they've already made. Sigh.
My daughter is so disappointed to see this new doll. She loves her Marisol, but feels kinda cheated now. We paid a little more than retail back in March or so for her. She figures that she should have just waited. She is bummed too because the new doll's hair is closer to my daughter's haircut, but can't justify buying the new one.
I don't have Marisol, so maybe I will get the new one sometime, but I prefer Marisol's long hair so maybe I will get one off of eBay someday. Why did they have to make a Marisol look-a-like?
I have to agree. I really don't like any of the new stuff. 27 is just 22 with 2 more inches of hair, and 28 is Marisol without my favorite part... her hair!
And the new outfits... eew. Too much pastel.
However, it means my wishlist won't get any longer. Yay!!
I just paid $160 for Marisol on Ebay 2 days ago! OUCH!! I wish I knew that AG was putting her twin sister on the market! Oh well!!
Yeah, I was shocked by that, but I am glad. I didn't get Marisol first time round, so I have to get this one (my Chanel) to justify.
I'd go on eBay and get a real Marisol, but my mom absolutley hates eBay and I can't go on it .
I'm really disappointed too. Unlike last year, when the new dolls were completely uncomparable and individual, these seem to be copying off their AG sisters - Marisol and #22. My Marisol's definitely feeling a lot less unique.
Don't feel bad, we have 2 Marisols that we use as twins. Really makes me mad! It was also my daughters first 18" doll and first LE at that. Now she really seems less special.
I'm very disappointed that AG didn't come up with more original ideas for the new AGTs. I think it is really annoying to the people who bought Marisol thinking she would be a LIMITED EDITION doll, only to see a new AGT- Marisol but with a hair cut! Do you think maybe they "over produced" Marisol, and decided to give her a haircut and make her a JLY doll?
Scenario #2......Marisol sold so well,(because everyone bought extras to Ebay) they made a JLY out of her, only shorter hair?
I think it is great that they made a doll so similiar to Marisol so girls that wanted Marisol but couldn't now can. Personally, I think the new doll is cuter than Marisol with the shorter hair. I don't purchase any JLY dolls, but I would switch the new one out with my daughter's Marisol in a heartbeat. There is still a difference between the new doll and Marisol. Marisol's hair is longer and the new doll doesn't come with all the dance accessories that Marisol did. I don't by the LE dolls for a profit so I really don't care too much about whether Marisol's value goes down.
Oh well, I prefer Marisol's longer hair. You can do so much more with it. Makes hair styling more fun!

It is true and the truth can hurt sometimes, but you just get what you want. End of story.

I think that since I do have Marisol I won't get the new Marisol Look-A Like.
My guess is that Marisol WAS overproduced and they wanted to make a profit and sell the rest of their stock rather than sending her to the outlet stores later on!
If you have Marisol, and want the new today girl that looks like her, why don't you get her and pretend she is her twin sister? Just a thought...(sorry if someone posted this already, because I wasn't really reading the posts before this )
I just have to say I think the new AGOT/Marisol look-a-like is very cute!
I love the shorter hair and I will most definitely purchase her for my DD because Marisol's long hair is a bit of a hindrance for us when we play and make up stories.
I think short-haired Marisol (sorry which # is she again?) is great for younger girls in particular who may not want the hair responsibility that goes along with our longer-haired beauties like Elizabeth, Kaya & Josefina.
This new doll is lovely and will be tons of fun to play with. Plus, I've been just really wishing we had two Marisols at our house ever since I opened her box last December and she was sold out, so this is a great turn of events.
She's cute! That face is darling irregardless of the hair, IMHO. Yay!

I'm not that excited because the two new dolls look just like old dolls, but I think for the little girls this is great. Perhaps lots of little girls couldn't get Marisol last year, and this gives them another chance in a way.
Of course, there's the flip side of little girls not feeling their LE is special, too. Tough call.
I own Marisol and ebayed her in spring, but no complaints here. She's my Clara doll and it wouldn't work to have short hair anyway. Plus, I love Marisol's original hair- it is so long and pretty. Then again, I got a steal on ebay and got her mint in a lot. After all the extra stuff was sold, I got her for about $50. I might feel differently under other circumstances.
AGT28 was selling like CRAZY tonite! Every little girl was buying her and screaming "It's Marisol!" It was so cute though! I am glad some little girls can now have one. I don't feel my Marisol is any less special. Whether a doll is LE or Retired makes no difference to me. I just love the dolls
I know that all of those who have Marisol love her long, beautiful curls - but I think this new Marisol look-a-like with the shorter hair is almost cuter!
I have Marisol, but I will be getting this doll too. She is cute. I like dolls with shorter hair. JMHO....

I like the dolls with shorter hair, too. Uh, Sheila, I thought you said no more dolls until LE's? What happened to your willpower?
I think the new dolls are cute, but not very original IMO. I won't be tempted to buy them at least! I just wish they would have come out with another doll with hazel eyes like #21, who is SO CUTE and it seems like a lot more people have brown/hazel/green eyes to me. But I want a #21 with wavy brown hair, hazel eyes and so she'll actually look like me! I guess I'll have to wait another year or two . . .
