Ratbastards! Just got an email on the student
account pontificating about some Norwegian
band called Surferosa. The gig's at our other
campus - so, so what? Then I checked out the
hype: they're fucking great!
They're Norwegian, they kooky, they sing in
kooky English, they're apparently obsessed
with all things 80s and glam, and lead singer
Mariann is the 80s-electro-bastard grand-
daughter of Gwen Stefani, Madonna and Cyndi
Lauper or something.
What's great - as far as the Norwegian
record biz is concerned - is that there's
as much money behind them as there is press
interest.
There is 3 downloadable videos online:
Firstly, goto http://www.barebea.no/
skip the intro, click the second heart on
the left, select your speed and check
out 'Saturday Night'.
And there's two more at the offical site:
http://www.surferosa.no/start.htm
Cheers,
D.

Before I sign off... please check out - at
least - the Saturday Night video. It's a
great glam song, seriously.
The two videos on their official site
are too glam to be glam. One chorus
(an ode to Japanese culture) goes along
the lines of: 'It's tasty, it's catchy
- catchy and tasty. Catchy, catchy, catchy,
catchy.' True trash. Fucking lovely.
D.
-
D, I'll check it out later. I promise.
-
Wow. Great find D. I LOVE it.
-
Checked out the Saturday Night vid.
Reminds me a bit of Blondie. Debbie Harry in her bin-bag days. Not bad at all.
Better than Whigfield's Saturday Night, but then wasn't she Danish? lol
-
i have their 'shanghai my heart' cd and i would say that saturday night is not one of the better songs on it. if you like saturday night you will love the cd.
-
Dude, sorry to say, but it's not happening for me. I watched the videos for Neon Commando and Lucky Lipstick High and besides both being way too 80's synth pop sounding for me, the woman's voice/vocal delivery totally grated on my ears. It wouldn't let me open any videos on that other site you had. I'll try again and perhaps my opinion will change. However, I wouldn't count on it.
-
btw, for me on http://www.barebea.no/, it wouldn't let me skip the intro. Ended up being six peeps fading onto the screen, then five disappearing, leaving the final one on there. Then, it had the heart. What am I doing wrong? Anybody?
-
I can't believe only one person found them
- her - as tasty and catchy, catchy and tasty,
catchy, tasty, catchy, tasty, catchy catchy
catchy as me.
To 'Skip Intro' you have maximize their window.
You'll find the skip link at the bottom.

1. Even with maximizing, still couldn't find the skip button.
2. After it runs through, I end up with the chick on the screen with a heart off to the left. It says Bare Bea. There's three words below it in a foreign tongue (probably Norwegian, eh?) and some more words to the right in a column. On the upper right, it's got two of the guys. They're the only thing I can open up on the screen. I'm assuming that when I click on them, it's their bios that I'm seeing. I don't see any mp3 links. Sorry to say.
-
D's instructions worked ok for me. Just took ages with the dial-up. That singer chick is quite fit in a trashy way. I only checked out the Saturday night thingy. Thinking about it now, a Hazel O'Connor comparison comes to mind.
-
i think more then one person found them catchy. in fact i think cotton ball (and i use that term with the highest respect) was the only one who didn't like them. like i said, i have had their cd for quite some time now and though saturday night is a very good song, there are alot more on the disc that are better. as far as looks, i'll still take Nina Persson from the Cardigans anyday.
-
Ooooh yeah!
-
If we're fantastically picking and choosing, then
why choose - have both!
Cotton Bud: if you manage to get to the
main screen, it's the second heart on the
lower left. 'Surferosa' will appear.
Have started reading one of your screenplays:
am about to enter Harvey Strong's house...
Keith ... Richard ... Andii ... Calzada ...
Scrittscratt ... the Hank who yanks the Yanks
You cheeky devil. You need to get out more, mate.
This boards' essence, I believe, is infringing
upon your creative juices
Hopefully I'll finish both over the weekend.
There are some small (dimensionally not
megabite-wise) Quicktime ver.'s of some of my
humble musical efforts.
GUN$ is 50meg, Painkiller is 17meg.

Like I said, I'm not seeing any skip button and it makes two guys, then four (?) girls appear. Then all but the final girl disappear, leaving one heart. Do you have a direct link to that video? This is getting a bit disheartening (no pun intended)
Yeah, the Andii Calzada character was a double homage to two peeps on here. Ditto with the characters of Scritt and Scrat and their reference as the glitzitwins. The other names don't have anything to do with the board.
-
Hit f11 to go full screen. There are more hearts at the bottom. Click the second one, then wait about half an hour if you're on dial-up. I got the vid in segments of about 10 seconds, but after about an hour I could replay the whole thing.
-
If you maximize the screen you'll see
'skip intro'. If you wait for the trailer to
finish then it will automatically load up
the main screen: you'll see a row of hearts
at the bottom of screen and you brush your cursor
over the second on the left.

good lord guys,it sounds like you're all trying to play twister. there are easier ways to spy hot chicks(actually I did get as far as seeing this website, the chic is pretty plain looking) Just go down to the local convenient store and buy a play boy for cripes sake LOL!
ok,ok,i'll leave you guys alone...geesshhh

Okay, the F11 thing worked. Watched the video. If you guys dig it, then cool. Not really my cup o' tea, though. Like I say, if peeps dig it, then I'm not gonna trash it.
