It's 90* in the shade and from the storm and all the rain feels like a jungle today.
My problem is, do I go snorkeling this evening at Sand Key or Pass-A-Grille?

Tough call on that one. Since I've never been to either, I would have to suggest either flipping a coin or playing rock paper, scissors with yourself
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Summertime.
The time when the weather up here is as good as the weather down south by GL.
Sitting P LSIDE today.
Look to my left nothing but girls
look to my right, again nothing but girls
Even got into the pool myself today.
Sun , a little background music, girls sunning themselves, me sunning myself, kids playing in the pool even a few dining alfresco Poolside.
'Tis the good life it is! LOL!
You know, that AlFresco thang is great. Especially when there's a little brezze or something.
I should have done that last night.
BBQ chicken, cole slaw, corn on the cob and a maragrita would have even been better outdoors
Just in case

"No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems"
By Kenny Chesney
I've been up to my neck workin 6 days a week
wearin holes into the shoes on my feet
been dreamin of gettin away since i dont know
Aint no better time than now..for mexico
No shoes, No shirt, No problems
Blues what blues..hey i forgot them
The sun and the sand and a drink in my hand with no bottom
and no shirt, no shirt, and no problems!
No problems
Want a towel on a chair in the sand by the sea
want to look thru my shades and see you there with me
Want to soak up life for a while
In laid back mode
No boss, no polite, no stress, no dress code
No shoes, no shirt, no problems
Blues what blues hey i forgot them
The sun and the sand and a drink in my hand with no bottom
and no shoes, no shirt, and no problems
Babe lets get packed..tank tops and flip flops if u got them
No shoes, no shirt, no problems
No problems.
Better with music, of course!
I aint got a beach, but the P L will do just fine.
With a cool breeze, you can close your eyes and almost hear the waves

well I couldn't go under the water really, it's still too murky and full of muck from the storm, and the sun was setting too so I didn't have enough light. But...the shells were washing right up on the beach anyway so all I had to do was wade in water 4" deep and find them at my feet, I found a nice amount.
It was so cute as I was walking back I got almost all the way to my car and looked at my shell bag and somethng didn't look quite right, here one of the little conchs was still in the shell and was sticking his little eyes out of the bag looking around scared. So I reached down and grabbed the shell out and made sure there were no other live ones I missed and he sucked himself back inside and pulled his little lid shut and as I was carrying it back to the water he peaked out at me. I threw him out into the water as far as I could. I don't know how people can kill a little creature like that just because they want the shell? He has as much right to live as we do and to kill him/her for the shell is murder in my opinion.
I bought a photo at summerfair of a sunset through some palm trees on miami beach. I bought it as a sort of "mood enhancer" for the rainy days LOL!
Always plenty of good days to counter the bad ones (at least weather wise)

1/2 lg. onion
2 stalks celery
1/2 red pepper
1/2 green pepper
1/4 c. buttermilk
1/4 tsp. Tabasco
Salt to taste
1 egg
1/3 c. self rising cornmeal
1/3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
Directions:
Put conch through food grinder or food processor. Process next four ingredients and mix with conch, adding salt and egg. Mix well. Mix together cornmeal and flour. Add conch mixture. Mixture should be thick. Add buttermilk and Tabasco. Drop by heaping tablespoon into deep oil until light brown. Drain. Serve with Grey Poupon mustard, mayonnaise and lime juice.
Never had Conch, but that sounds pretty good Trav.
Actually, the overlook at woodland mound is a nice place to watch one.
No P LSIDE today. Someone broke a glass and they had to drain the pool to clean it up.
Plastic bottles and cups only, and unbreakable if you've got it. (I do, my poolside cup is unbreakable plasic) Most people do just bring plastic stuff down there, I've never even seen anyone with anything glass arund the pool.
Oh well, plenty of sunny days ahead for that. No big deal (I guess) to miss one, but I hope it doesnt happen again.

I have no issues whatsoever with eating conchs. It's killing them just to take their shells I find reprehensible. Just like killing an animal for its fur or just to mount its head on the wall is wrong to me.

Personal note to GL -- sharks live in those waters. Don't say I didn't warn you.
But there is a certain crab at Pass-A-Grille that I have not been getting along with. He claims an area about the size of an automobile. Last Friday evening he pinched me on my ankle a couple of times and then Saturday he went after my big toe. He's all the size of my fist, but damn he stands his ground LOL. I know it's the same one because he is so aggressive about this particular area. I'll try to not bother him too much tomorrow.

Last time I was at Cocoa Beach ('05), I picked up some little critter in a shell and it started squirting me! Retaliation by pissing! The little shit. I dropped it back on the sand, but all 8 of the kids with us saw it and they took turns getting squirted. I made sure they didn't harm the little pisser, though.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Depends on what the critter was. If it was a crab, he was actually spitting on you. If it was a bi-valve mollusk it was using his propulsion system simply to spray you with sea water. They take water in from one end of their shell and push it out the other to move around. It's really cool to watch a clam or coquina shell move like that and bury themselves in the sand.Quote:

Did you happen to see a little restaurant near him and perhaps a squid and spongelooking creature
Maybe he's just trying to get your attenetion because he wants to be your dinner
When I was about 7 or 8 yrs old we went to Gulf Breeze, Florida up in the Panhandle near Pensacola for vacation. I was on a fishing pier with my father and looked down into a blue plastic bucket of water that had some crabs in it someone had caught. I was laughing and pointed at the crab and he was trying like hell to reach up and pinch me. When he couldn't I laughed even harder. He got me anyway; he spit a face full of water on me. Given the circumstances, I don't blame him one little bit... I remember walking away wanting to let him escape so bad but my father wouldn't let me...I should have "tripped" over the bucket to let him free.
