sculpey, might be because of this little Hippity-hop thing brad pitt does to kill people... See, i waited for the trailers to end to go get my popcorn (i didn't want to miss anything good) stood in line for about 10 minutes, then came back in and Brad was running at this guy and he does this hippity hop thing. So, at first i'm thinking, that was kinda cool, maybe this movie won't be so bad...
Then he does it another dozen times thoughout the movie...
so yeah, maybe it was that, or the other thousands of gay things about the film...
hahahahahahahahaha
hahaha.......
knew it-
"do you like movies about gladiators?"
I still don't get how they will bring a big horse without realizing it was a trap.......morons
I haven't seen it, and I haven't really been very enthused about seeing it. I did hear that Eric Bana did a notable job.
Speaking of movies, have you guys seen Roger Ebert lately? I caught part of his show the other day, woah he's changed.
Moviemaniac4, it's a myth, like everything esle before the 19th century...
Some dared to have had compared this to Gladiator!

The first time i saw Troy, i liked it, and no,it wasn't because there were a ton of half naked guys, i always like Greek History.
I saw it the second time and i had all of you guys in mind "God the movie is gay" and watching it again, i was laughing, because you do see some parts where the camera view is underneath the soliders skirt. But that's how they dressed and that's what really happpened.
Your all just mad because you didn't get to see much tits. Well, you know what, you have plenty of movies to enjoy that stuff. Very rarely girls get to see hot looking guys half naked through a movie so shut your hole and enjoy the movie
Greek history?
I'm not mad about anything, tits or no, that movie was fucking ridiculously hysterical!
"Let it burn! Let if burn! Mwuhahahahaha!"

My problem is not that Troy is Gay... it's characters were flat (with the exception of Bana) and it just didn't want to move on with the plot...
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Thought you didn't care about the "hot looking guys half naked through a movie" aspect of the film. Quote:

Wonder why "half-naked" picts of Brad Pitt and references to his "rock hard body" keep popping up in any Troy thread you post in then?
Haven't seen any posts from you discussing the historical accuracies and inaccuracies of Greek society, life and warfare as portrayed in the film.

HAHAHAHAhahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahaHA!!!!
I fought my wife over seeing this, but in the end i went, and man am i glad i did! Best Comedy of the Year!!!!
20 stars!
the end
This movie has already been nominated for the 'gay' Hall of Fame.
I thought Troy was entertaining for what it was. The inaccuracies did bug me afterwards. Guess I shouldn't have watched Helen of Troy a couple nights before I saw Troy
Well, if you put aside some of the over-the-top, laughable performances, the problem with Troy was simple.
It was too realistic. Well, i mean, it attempted to be. The Illiad was a myth, or a legend (based on some kind of facts) if you prefer, but in being that, the characters are archetypal, larger than life myths themselves. You don't question their motives, and who can argue with the gods?
I got the feeling that the people who made Troy were trying to present their concept of the "Historical facts" that led to the legend. The scene where they find Pitt's body with just one arrow in the ankle really cemented this concept with me. And that's just stupid, imo.
Plus the fact that everyone spoke with a vaguely English accent...
Slytherin Snape,

troy bothered me a lot. I've read the Iliad, and the Odessey, and I've read a lot of books on greek mythology. and they left so much out of the movie that it was basically just a boiled down war/love story. nothing more.
it was not the story of troy. wanna know what got left out/changed?
<blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">spoiler (click to view):</font><hr size="1"><div class="spoiler" id="EQITIB"> clytaemnestra. agamemnon's wife. helen's sister. she had her lover kill agamemnon when he came back from conquering troy. he was NOT killed in troy by Polydora.
iphigenia. agamemnon's daughter, whom he sacrificed to the gods to earn their favor during the war. one of the reasons why his wife had him murdered..because iphigenia was her favorite daughter.
the war lasted 10 YEARS. what did it last in the movie..four days? a week?
hector's wife and baby? didn't escape. his son was thrown from the walls of troy. his wife was captured and raped.
cassandra. the sister of hector and paris. she was a seer, granted the powers of prophecy by apollo. the deal was that if she had sex with the god, he granted her the gift of prophecy. she backed out on her end of the deal, and was cursed by apollo. she still had true visions..but no one believed her. she was captured and raped when troy fell, and was taken back to Sparta by agamemnon. she warned him of his wife's plot to have him killed, but of course he did not believe her.
they didn't even get into WHY achilles was invulerable. they showed his mother, but did not explain the fact that A: she was a sea nymph..and B: she had dipped him in the river styx as an infant to make his skin immune to wounds. his heel was his weak point because she had to hold him by something while she dipped him in the river..so his heel was the only part that was not touched by the waters. and thus, the place he could be wounded.
in fact, they didn't touch on any of the more mythological aspects of the story at all. that little contest between paris and menelaus? paris didn't cower at hector's feet..aphrodite intervened, carried Paris off, and deposited him into helen's arms.
there's a lot more that I know I'm missing, or possibly got a bit wrong..it's been years since I've read the iliad, and my mythology is a bit rusty as well.

LOL, funny SS, very funny. I won't lie, yes, Brad Pitt looked gorgeous but with that on the side, i enjoy the movie for what it was. Even though they didn't follow the movie exactly like history, i enjoyed it, i'm not saying it's the best movie in the world but it was good enough for me. And you people though Hellboy was great, pssh, that movie should be burned!
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Actually it was the heel. Achilles was supposed to be impervious to (major) injuries, except his heel where he was held by his mother while being dipped in the "immortality pond". Achilles' Heel? Right-o, carry on.Quote:

But in the movie it in in the "tendon" (which explains what term? ) which is more part of the ankle than the heel...
dammit snape! i thought those links were going to be hot pics of brad. what a letdown...
Um, if you didn't think those were "hot" I guess you wouldn't like the movie then. Unless you are into "Greek history" that is.
