Ok I am finally putting my JRSC on my 94 Z6 tomarrow. Im running the stock 6lb pulley. I will also be using the stock fuel setup for about 1 month until I go to get tuned... then i will install my FPR, RC Injectors, etc when I get there. My question is: Do I need to retard or advance my timing any with the stock setup? Or do I leave it alone? Im also putting on my AEM rail is that ok?? I didnt think it would matter since its just a bling bling kind of item.
You'd better not boost that motor without the FPR installed. You'll blow it for sure. It will go way lean without the added fuel from the FPR.
Im still installing my stock FPR just not my aeromotive.
So am I supposed to retard it 10 degrees?

The fuel rail is irrelevant. Use timing settings as JR suggests in the instructions you can download from their web site.

Yes, you need to retard the timing as per instructions. Why wouldn't you? The fuel rail and fpr don't do anything - just bling. I blew money on those just to run stock pressure. Everyone I know has a stock fuel rail and fpr.
But even when you swap in injectors/rail/fpr, your timing will still have to be retarded... I don't understand your question I guess.
I didnt have the instructions for installation.... but I just downloaded them.... I see that you retard the timing 10btc... thats all I was asking.... I knew I had to use the big silver jackson fmu... I was refering to my aftermarket aeromotive Fuel pressure regulator.... I will use my stock one until I am tuned..... hopefully this clears up any confusion.
Yeah i will be installing an s200 in about a month along with 440cc injectors etc.
If you are NOT using some type of engine management and BIG fuel injectors, there is absolutely NO reason to use an Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator... it is upstream from the JR FMU (rise-rate regulator) which is what actually now controls the fuel pressure... both in vaccuum and in boost. Adjusting fuel pressure at the fuel rail while still having the JR FMU inline does NOTHING.
Using the Aeromotive FPR would simply be "bling-bling" at this stage.
Well weve got most of it done... installed my new clutch, timing belt,tensioner,and waterpump.... a few new gaskets and a couple other things. The engine is now mounted back into place... the only real problem we have had so far has been the powersteering lines.... the instructions said to bend them out of the way...but it seemed like we had to bend them alot....ehhhh I guess we'll see when i go to fire her up tomarrow.
