Action Games (includes shooting):
Armed and Dangerous (A really fun game)
Crimson Skies: High Roads to Revenge (Flying-Sim, fighter pilot, well done, LIVE enabled)
Other games:
Ninja Gaiden (Ninja game, some love it some hate it)
Project Gotham Racing 2 (Really good racing game, ask Wiseman)
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Not sure, but I've heard it is good)
is xbox really worth buying?ive sometimes consider it....everyone in my dorm has one....i think ill just bum one off them
To me it was, since I play a lot of FPS.
Halo, (soon to be) Halo 2, XIII, Ghost Recon: Island Thunder, Armed and Dangerous, actually, the main reason I got it was for Halo, and I found other good games in the process. I also want to try out Mafia.
yeah everyone in my dorm goes through the halo phases....i guess ill just bum off of others...ill stick to ps2 and gamecube
Quite frankly, I believe Halo 2 will revolutionize FPS games for year to come, both storyline wise (Halo's storyline was alright, too, for a FPS, however XIII takes the cake for FPS storylines), and graphically. It will have nearly the same gameplay as Halo, but it shall be a spectacle.
Of course Xel, doesn't like Halo, he likes Unreal better. :-\ That's why I didn't mention it to him.
Unreal IS better XP harhar but both rock lolz well for multiplayer atleast... but i dont think unreal HAS a one player mode with a good story lolz
im ust agree....unreal tornament is pretty freaking awesome....maybe better than halo ...but taht just cause i play iot more often
okay if everyone has broadband in an Unreal Multiplayer game and theres no lag then Unreal wins the multiplayer FPS trophy lolz
but i think Halo wins the one player story mode =]
unreal does suck if its too laggy....but hey no one can be perfect like you cav....ive never played the one player halo....how long does it take to beat...
lol wtf? im not perfect X_X well i havent played all of it, but i doubt unreal's first player mode has a good story like Halo, the story so far on Halo rocks OMG teh alienz! X_X >_>
Play Knights of the Old Republic. It's probably one of the best RPGs I've ever played. The game is so interactive you wouldn't believe it o_o
I wasn't a Star Wars fan when I played it, but after I was done...
lol yea i hear its great, and Knights of the Old Republic2 is coming out =]
Cav, what single player level are you on in Halo?
Also, can Unreal LAN? If you can't LAN with Unreal then Halo beats it multiplayer wise, hands down.
I'm talking about the XBox version, I know you can do it with the computer.
GGXX online play? Nice! *Adds another item to a rather short list of reasons to own a X-box*.
XB version of Unreal2k4? Yuck, controller >_<

The new controller is okay, its pretty standard. Its like the DC's, except without the VMU capabilities.
I actually like the newer improved S-controller.
No no, I just don't like FPS on controller.
Oh, I see.
same here... im in early level, the part where i infiltrate the enemy ship... after rescuing the survivors of the ship that got shot down i dont play often, i dont go to my cousin's place alot lolz
Ah, T&R. Play through a little bit more and you'll see the story really change around.
If you think it's good within the first three levels, just wait till the sixth one.
really? well... dammit now i have to mooch off my cousin more =P
You can LAN.
Almost any computer game that can go online can be LAN'd.
I own the X-box pretty much for Halo. Unfortunately, im bored of it, so im not playing the X-box until Halo 2 is released, which will be absolutely awesome.
One of the only Xbox games I was interested on that I couldn't get for another system was True Fantasy Online, which got cancelled a few weeks ago, so meh.
Ok, so the one thing the X-box had which could have actually been popular in japan, has been cancelled. Damn, the whole X-box experience is looking that much more shallow.
Cat, have you pre-ordered Halo 2 yet?
IRT N - Y-yes..i have... *runs off to preorder*.
IRT Cav - Yeah, ToS looks incredibly enjoyable, but now that they're porting it to the PS2 (with extra anime cut-scenes, no less) im a little annoyed. I wanted to have some more exclusive games to play on my GC, but now im considering getting it for the PS2, thanks to the extras.
Then again, Baten Kaitos looks rad too, it has the whole Chrono Trigger atmosphere about it, graphics and music are awesome, and the story looks epic. Plus, its by Monolith Soft.
now that they're porting it to the PS2 (with extra anime cut-scenes, no less)
Oh, cool, another game to get lol
Hahaha, well, its sad because ToS didnt sell very well in Japan (which is odd), hence the port to a more popular console.
But now it will sell
aww so sad... owell onward to halo 2 =P
XBOX isnt going down the road of the japanese role playing game methinks... atleast gamecube is getting tales of symphonia, w00t!
hmmmm I pretty much use mine for both of my Project Gotham games, maybe Soul Caliber 2, and Ninja Gaiden. Never really played Halo since I'm no good w/guns and shooting T_T
I dont really know why i own an X-box. I dont particularly like sport, action, racing or FPS games, which the X-box has in abundance. I guess im in it for Halo and Halo 2 (and for the fact i got it really cheap).
*Browses X-box RPG selection*
Is...Morrowind III: The Elder Scrolls any good?
I believe H2 will be reason enough alone to own an XBox once it comes out.
Online GG is enough for me.
Hmm, if GGXX Reloaded has online play, isnt there a possiblity that it'll be in Guilty gear Isuka? If so, that'd render GGXXR obsolete.
That said, i would like to thrash Xel at GGXX
Which characters are your fav's?
IRT Cata: Is...Morrowind III: The Elder Scrolls any good?
This has a complex answer. The short version is "yes, but don't get the Xbox version, play the PC one". The long version is: the game itself is ok. It's a PC RPG (i.e. a dungeon crawler), has a story but it's not too great and you can very well avoid it, no cut-scenes, no party, first person view, and don't expect much in the artistic area. I'll take most of today's cRPGs over any PC RPG. But it does have something that rocks, and is, in a way, something close to Shenmue (save the distance): you are in a huge island, you can do anything you want, talk to anybody you want, get stuff, get to be liked or hated by people, kill whatever you want, work however you want, get involved in different guilds and factions, explore, find trouble, or be found by trouble. The pros and cons of the game are:
Pros:
- You can do pretty much anything you want, join different factions, be good or evil, play in your style, lots of freedom
- HUGE island, thousands of people to talk to, monsters to kill, and places to raid for loot
- Lots of missions (distributed in several factions as well as freelance ones)
- Lots of items, spells, create your own items and spells with alchemy and spellcraft
- Characters can like or hate you depending on your actions and your bribing
Cons:
- Butt ugly graphics sometimes, especially the character models, textures lack color and variety, and sometimes, detail as well
- Slowdown
- Repetitive music (6 or 7 tracks for a 100 hour game?)
- Annoying cliff racers (enemy that sucks)
- Xbox only: limited inventory and window UI
- Xbox only: even more slowdown than in your average PC
However, what makes Morrowind great, is its editor and its versatile engine. There's a very active modding community who virtually redid everything in the game in one way or another! However, you can only extend the PC version, and you need fat RAM for this to work properly (256 MB minimum to work properly with all the extensions). Most of its cons have a partial or complete solution with modding and customization, and once you set your Morrowind properly, you'll have a great game to enjoy, with state-of-the-art graphics. That's what renders the Xbox version useless ? if you were to compare the standard Morrowind (i.e. Xbox) and a good modded Morrowind screenshots, you wouldn't believe it.
To show you how versatile and extensible this game is, I'll list the modifications I've added to my game. I disabled some of them to save fps though, as some of them are time-consuming and you only want them if you have an Athlon XP 2200+ or better. I'll mark the ones I've disabled with (*).
? Textures Replacement: Massive replacement of textures with high-res, colorful, realistic ones!
? Wilderness mod (*): Add bugs, butterflies, fish, and all sorts of things to Morrowind to make it alive!
? Better bodies: Major modification! Change all those ugly bodies for these high-polygon, awesome models! As a plus, they are realistic, which means if you take off yours or somebody else's armor and clothes, you'll see them naked, both men and women, as it should be.
? NPC replacer: Another great one! Change all those ugly, low-res, high-polygon, poorly done faces with awesome Shenmue-quality ones (animation won't be nearly as good as Shenmue, but the static faces sure are), which use even less polygons than the originals!
? Tribunal: The first expansion pack (commercial).
? Bank: Deposit your money, earn interests, get loans, letters of credit, and real estate - yes, you can buy your home.
? Ambient light and fog update: Better ambient light and fog settings.
? Light sources: Major modification to dramatically improve lighting ? the game engine supported it, but all the lights were the same color and dull. Fixed. Water lighting presets improved. Also made that your sneaking abilities vary depending on light and shadows. And more people will be carrying torches to use at night.
? Varieties of trees: Massive trees to create some really thick forests you can't see the sky from, with falling leaves and all.
? New trees replacement: Replace trees with the game with better, larger trees.
? Window lights: Illuminate windows in the outside of buildings at night
? Laura: Girlfriend that follows you and helps with fighting and carrying items, gets dressed as you want, and has her own storyline and missions. Also adds a nice house for you and a nice pet to follow you if you want.
? Twin Lamps: New faction to free slaves from Morrowind.
? Interior daylights: Make interiors of houses brighter or darker depending on time of the day and weather conditions
? Cliff Racers: Disable these pests, most annoying thing in the game
? Female pants replacement: Women were using male pants so they were packed, fixed.
? Travelling merchants: What the name says, between several cities and towns
? NPCMove: Ask people to move if they are blocking your way
? Earthly Delights: Now you can go to the whore house in Suran and get laid for some 150 gold coins
? Secret masters fix: Game bugfix package
? Cloak of Three: Add cloaks to the game, the game didn't have any. Some of them gib special powers.
? Weight fix: Make stuff weight what it should (you can carry a limited weight of items)
? Atmospheric Sound Effects (*): Add several hundred of 3D sound effects to the world of Morrowind for a richer experience.
? VGreetings: Game bugfix to enable hidden greeting lines.
? Persuasion Response Expansion: Make people respond with funny lines when you bribe, admire, intimidate, or taunt them.
? FPS Optimizer: Program to dynamically adjust how far you see according to fps, to let you control it with the mouse wheel, and to do some other neat things.
Not too bad, huh? If you're interested in the game save this post because you'll want to get all of this, and install them in this order. All of this is only available for the PC version, that's why the Xbox version is no use. I'll explain you how to install them if you're interested.
Here, I have some neat screenshots for you to get a glimpse of the game. All of them will show a different aspect of the game.
First, an original vs. modified comparison. First pics taken with the original version, as it should look unmodified and in the Xbox version. Second pics taken with my customized game (changing everything ? look at models, textures, lighting). I've laveled them "Xbox" (as in the Xbox version) and "XPC" (as in an extended PC version).

Now let's focus on the final modified game (I don't have equivalent screenshots in the original game).

And yes, there are hundreds of mods adding dungeons, castles, towns, islands, or total conversions (replacing every data element in the game with new ones, as you could see in the last pics).
Phew. I hope this answers your question .
