She has three dogs that would shit in her postage-stamp yard and she never cleaned it up.
We had a number of "discussions" about these things and were not able to resolve them. One Saturday early spring afternoon GAE and I went out front to see if our daffodils were starting to come up. Well there was her garbage can in the middle of our flower bed. GAE got a little perturbed and returned the can (I did make a loud sound when it came in contact with the outside of her house). Immediately our neighbor ran out on her porch and started yelling some not nice things at my wife. Well I looked up at her and told her to fuck off and she then went back inside.
We finished what we were doing and went inside also. About 15 minutes later one of Cincinnati's finest knocked on our door wanting to arrest me for violent behavior. After a short discussion with the officer he decided that I didn't need to go to jail, but set up a mediation session.
I showed up at the session with a diagram of our yards showing the property line and pictures of the fallen branches, location of her garbage cans in our yard and piles of dog shit.
The result was that she had to clean up the shit and secure her cans, I had to pick up the branches that fell in my yard and no one from my household could talk to anyone in her household and visa versa.
All this now moot.
Last year our neighbor got married and I will probably not ever be friends with her husband, but he has built a new deck with a can containment fence, cut down the trees and cleaned up the dog shit. He is now planting grass and building flower beds. Things are looking up.
