Triple Pots Available

There's a nice set of triples on e-Bay and are hard to find so maybe one of you could pick them up for a song:

I usually watch this stuff on eBay when it is posted just to see how they do. Sometimes they do, indeed, go for a song (relatively speaking!). It just takes watching & bidding just around closing if you can do so. I've been an active eBay user practically since they started it & have found that you can never really tell what things will finally go for--just like in a live, 'bricks & mortar' auction.

For instance, when I first had my B up & running I had the usual lust to acquire a full complement of the pots since my range came with only the single pot with double boiler & steamer insert. I paid quite a lot for my first set of triples (something like $125). I then found a set of doubles & 'only' paid $80 or so for those--which made me happy as they seem harder to find than the triples.

Anyway. . .some weeks later I was watching a set of triples that came with the elusive pot handle. They were sitting there not doing much of anything for the whole week. Well, I ended up getting the whole lot at the last minute for less than $50 with shipping! What was particularly odd about this was that there were 2 auctions for only the pot lifters going on at the same time. In both cases the closing price for these was nearly what I paid for my lot. I think a lot of this is clearly due to poor descriptions from the listers that make it hard to find their items, but it is also from buyers lack of search abilities (& patience when confronted with a search that yields 500 results--it really isn't that hard to scan through that many quickly. . .trust me!). Some of it is also closing days/times. Some days & times are much better than others for the sellers because more people are available to bid at the end, which is where most auctions that are really good are won.

Gee. . .I guess I can go on about this. I better stop!

I got a similar deal on a single kettle and handle. Together they cost me something like $27, including shipping. Just the day before my auction closed, a handle sold for $50, all by its little bitty self. Crazy.

I didn't need the pot, but I wanted the handle, and it was too good a pass up.

Sometimes things just slip below the radar on ebay. It's usually because the seller either doesn't know what the item really is, or the seller chooses the title poorly.

I like those little market inefficiencies; they're so much fun to find.

What kills me is that so many people bid on items with 3 or 5 or 6 days still remaining on the item. I don't think that ever helps you win an Ebay item these days-- just drives the price up and attracts attention to it, IMO.

22 bids on those pots already. Crazy.

OK I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LAWS CHAMBERS LAWS THAT IS HAS BEEN BROKEN WHEN YOUR WIFE COMES HOME AND SAYS THAT SHE FOUND A TRIPLE POT AT A YARD SALE BUT DID NOT BUY IT CUZ IT WAS $10 AND THOUGHT WE COULD FIND IT CHEAPER ON EBAY.. ANY ONE KNOW OF ANY HUNGRY LIONS.

Ouch. Was the $10 for only one pot in the set, or was it for all three? Either way, it was a deal. Better luck next time.

YOU KNOW IT WAS 10 BUCKS FOR THE WHOLE SET. MY WIFE THINKS IM CRAZY FOR GETTING THIS STOVE. HOWEVER SHE DONT UNDERSTAND YET. AND SEEING THAT ITS STILL IN THE GARAGE I DONT BLAME HER. BUT IT WONT BE LONG NOW. I JUST GOT THE GAS LINE RAN THE OTHER DAY. NOW SOME DRYWALL. MY BAR AREA AND SOME PAINT AND WERE SET. SO MAYBE ABOUT A MONTH AT MOST.

You say she ran the car through the back of the garage? Oh dear, one time I ran over door panals my honey had left on the garage floor where I pull in.

Alas, one of those never to be forgotten moments, envious just thinking about coming across ANYTHING Chambers at a garage sale...v

This might be a way to get the set a little bit cheaper than you would for a full triple set.

There are also a couple of sets that would work in the T-well, although not as well as a 'real' set.

The first are what look like 2/3's of a triple set that are wider than official Chambers triples that the seller saws are marked Mirro:

The other are a similarly sized pair that are marked Wearever, but do not have the lid clips like the Chambers ones. This would make them harder to use in the T-well, although I suppose they would work in a pinch:

They both look to be shorter than the T-well triples, but hold the same volume, so they are wider. I don't know if both would fit in the T-well at the same time, but at the price they would at least give people waiting to acquire an Chambers set something to use until they could get hold of a 'real' set!
