There is no way I can attend, and believe me I really want to, I really do but I have to go to breakfest with my mother and then I am going to mow her yard, after which I am going to go home and shower do some news, then have to go to my buddy's house to start getting the poker tournement set up, then it is off to Famous Dave's where I will not be eating any the delicious food you all will be eating, then it is off back to play poker all night.

Sorry guys, I really did want to come to this thing and I feel bad because I always bail on these things, but I really did want to come.

My kids are disappointed that they can't come.

Trav, the menu sounds great and the guest list is top notch (of course) but since I kept you on hold about it I still dont want to promise I'm gonna make it and then not do so.

But, I do promise to attend any holiday season gathering, or event.

No more excuses, just didnt want to promise anything and then not bne able to do it.

Tm...yes, I am using lady fingers, but I am modifying the recipe, for cost purposes. I am using a stirred custard instead of marscapone. (as if you can find it in cincy w/out going to the Jungle...and THAT's a dangerous place for me... [img]redface.gif[/img] )

In honor of tonight's gathering, I made a darn good lasagna this afternoon. I know it will not be anything like Trav's feast, but it's Italian all the same.

OK, Lake, I'm going to try this while Trav watches the race this week.

Red sauce:

First, spend hours and hours and hours wandering around Jungle Jims, trying to decide which imported tomato products are good this year.

Bring groceries home and stand in gae's way while she tries to find homes for said groceries.

Open butler's pantry and pull out every single large pot, trying to decide which will be best.

Stand in gae's way as she does prep work.

Olive oil in grandmother's pot. Add finely diced carrot. Put all the other stuff in and ask gae to stir while he watched last week's race.

Antipasti:

Trav goes to work. Gae goes to Jungles. Gae has explicit instructions to call Trav upon entering. Long discussions on which olives follow. ("No! I want the olives that are in the tray third from the left!!... ) "And don't forget the artichoke hearts. They need to be precisely one and one half inches in diameter."
