got yet another car audio type a question fer ya.....
i'm lookin to put a new system in my dad's impala, cause frankly i'm getting sick of how poorly his stock cd player is performing.
subs, amp, reciever, whole shot. me and a friend are sharing the cost. somethin like $300 apiece is what we're looking at.
what kinda stuff will provide the biggest bang for the least buck?

Crutchfield has some extremely good deals. Geta 1200 watt sony amp and 2 12"s for 200 bucks.. Just need the boxes.. Then a couple decent 2 ways (or 3 depending on if you wanna push bass through the smaller speakers) Bass blockers (again depending) and a good cd player (Pioneer makes some damn good stuff, so does Kenwood)

ill be honest a cd player, speakers, amp, subs, and box for $600 will last you 6 days.
if i had $600 to spend...id buy a decent alpine CD player and find a JL audio dealer, get some decent door speakers and rear speakers and call it a day.
crutchfield is good prices, but if u have a problem...forget about warranty help. they wont give u the time of day...and if u call the manufacture they will tell u to find a local authorized dealer....the local dealer will tell you 'hows it feel to save a buck?' and to get lost.
Hm. That's funny, considering I bought a Pioneer cd player from Walmart for less then 200, got a sony 1000 watt amp and two 10" with boxes and cables for less then 400 from crutchfield, and it sounds extremely good in my truck. And haven't had the first problem out of them. And Crutchfield customer service has always been helpful with me.

and actually, i really don't *need* new speakers, it'd just be kinda nice....
well if u just wanted to add bass, you could get 2 JL 12w0's in a box and some sort of mid-line amp and all the necessary wiring for under $600
i ordered my stuff from crutchfield and i have had no problems from them with warranty issues, i am partial to kenwood myself... i have 3 way kenwood's in my door but i don't remember what i paid for them, i spent somewhere around $600 for my subs and amp but i plan on upgrading that one day [img]wink.gif[/img] i haven't changed out my deck yet.... but that last one i got was a kenwood that cost me $500. alpine makes some better speakers but to me it really depends on what you are looking for
