Please, please come back around and let us know how its going. Guess you have to go through an academy for training? when I went through fire service training, we really gave the cops to be some razzing.

Tis truly a bittersweet moment. Sad to see you leave McF, but like others have said, glad to see you making a long term career move.
You thought you got some crazy e-mails, but just wait until you start getting those crazy ass calls, lol. You're going to have stories to tell for the rest of your life. I've been in Law Enforcement (Sheriff's Office and Air Force) for the last 15 years and there's never a dull moment. Just when you think you're having a boring night, you'll get the craziest ass call to respond to, lol.
You'll surely be missed by the more mature group on the boards. You're replacement is going to have some tough, if not impossible, shoes to fill.
BTW, when do you start growing the cop mustache? [img]tongue.gif[/img]

do you have to have lived in the US for a period of time before applying ?

Very difficult. I'm very nearly an ideal candidate -- eight years as an MP in the Army, college degree, very fit -- and the process took me three months.
Written test, physical fitness test, oral board, birth-to-present background package, background investigation, polygraph test, medical evaluation, drug evaluation and psychological profile.
Don't know the ins and outs of citizenship. That would likely depend on the individual agency.

Since I know a lot of you guys personally, I wanted to let you know here first before word leaks out elsewhere. I turned in my notice yesterday at McFarlane and am moving on to other things.
Actually -- and this may not come as a shock to some of you -- I was accepted into the Scottsdale, AZ, police department. It's taken three months to get through all the physicals, polygraph, psych evaluations, etc., but I got the offer yesterday.
After nearly six years, it was just time for me to move on. I did enjoy my time, though, and met a lot of cool folks.
Anyway, I'd appreciate it if you guys could keep it to members of this board at least for the time being and not leak it over on the white board or any others.
