It used to be funny over ten years ago...Dana Carvey, Sandler, Farley...
What happened was that they hired horrible writers who try too hard and place too much emphasis on that Jimmy Fallon guy or girl or whatever he is.
No edge whatsoever anymore.
The guy who does Cheney and RUmsfeld is great but the words the writers get him to say are just uninspired and lazy.
Tina Fey, but before Tina was featured on camera she was actualy a writer during some of those Sandler years. Now, she is head writer of the show and she's actually good. The movie Mean Girls was written by her.

The most memorable time period for me and SNL was the Steve Martin years. He guest hosted regularly with the "not ready for prime time players" and those skits were hilarious. Martin Short and Eddie Murphy had a good run as well. Has anyone seen the Zappa SNL with Vinnie. They did "yellow snow" and "slime from your video". Vinnie had his yellow Gretsch kit (which was recently refurbished by Lee at Drum Paradise, VC's cartage co.).

I've got the Vinnie on SNL tape. I think "I am the slime" was actually another Zappa appearance with Bozzio on drums. The Vinnie stuff, if I remember correctly, is: The Meek Shall Inherit Nothing, St. Alphonso's and Dancin'Fool. Vinnie is sitting what seems like 3" off the ground. He's got a cig hanging out of his mouth while nailing these tunes to the wall. Amazing!

Yea, your right. Funny how times have changed. You most likely wouldn't see anyone smoking today as well as even having Zappa on TV. Bozzio killed on that as well. Did they ever do The Black Page on SNL. How many times did Zappa do SNL?
Did anyone happen to tape it and put it on their comps by any chance?
