I just recieved a retired AG backpack I won off of ebay. It arrived very quickly. It is in great shape physically. It was a really great deal. It was very accurately represented, as the seller never claimed to be in a smoke-free house, and I never asked. The very strong cigarette smell is its only flaw. I have no complaints with anyone, I just need to get rid of the smell.
Save for Febreze, are there any other good ways of removing the smell?
My niece's mom is moving her clear across the country (again Why put a little kid through this every year for three years?) at the end of this summer, and I planned on giving it to her as a place to store the HSH doll I got for my niece as well as the doll's dresses and books. I also plan on packing it with some workbooks and stuff. I don't want the doll to end up getting smoky, too.

My grandparents smoke and when we get home from their house EVERYTHING smells like smoke. We all have to shower.
Air it out. Keep it in your garage or outside or something and keep it there for 1-2 days.
Good luck!

I received a Josefina that way also. I put dryer sheets on and under her and on her leather accessories and her belt. I left her for a few weeks like this. I think I did flip the dryer sheets at some point. I washed her clothes. The smell came out completely.

Thanks everyone! I totally have hope now... if washing it a second time and then airing it out doesn't work, that baking soda idea sure is ingenious.
